Everyone was struggling and on the verge of giving up, myself included. I got on my survival/peaceful world called 'Late Nights Lane' to quell my anxiety. I swear everytime I listen to the Last of us sound track I die little because this game was my childhood and I still love it to this day its so beautiful and so well put together I just love it
This is one of the saddest games I’ve ever played it hits deep and Ellie went through so much and the music in this game is beautiful and I don’t care what people say but this is a great game.
07:24 Abby"s Theme. I like how they added a Minor Chord( 07:28 ) just to show the negativity of her. I mean to identify the character... Not only Abby, but each Character and each Theme is just so beautiful!!❤
This music and the game itself really touch certain emotions. Going through a similar journey (without all the blood and death) this music really nails those feelings you have of anger, sadness, regret, moving on. Gustavo is a legend.
I guess just the setting of the game just is so sad, you are in a world apocalypse, you lose those you love by flesh eating infected people. You find people you trust and love so dear its like the family you once had. Imagine having to endure that again and end up alone in a world that just collapsed on you. You knew it would've came again but you didn't know how soon it could've been, because being with the people you love changed time itself you never really know someone's gone till they really are gone, the memories are what truly kill it for us.
the calm before the storm is always right before you having a really good day and then like a blast of thunder that good day disappears and it shouldn't happen to a teenager.
Here's why, to me, this game is a masterpiece and even better than the first part in many ways : First thing first, people got overcarried by the hate coming from the leaks, which were out of context. Now that the game is out and we have proper context to look into it all, it's obvious the writers knew perfectly what they were doing all along and it feels like a really well planned story. But of course some of those youtubers/influencers/whatever are just looking for easy views and bucks, and right now it means hating the game and follow what started with the leaks. You can disagree with the story of course, but not to the extent of sending death threats to the writers, or the actors. That's just wrong and childish, period. No one back then had proper context to judge the game. Firstly, to me, the game honors Ellie and Joel bonds deeply : you can feel Joel's presence all the way during the first half of the game, and seeing how Ellie does take care of a whole militia brings back memories of how Joel would have done it. She has the same moves. She has the same way (and of course, you do as a player) of wiping enemies. At one point during the game Dina says to Ellie "_where did you learn how to do that ?_" and she answers "_Joel taught me_". This is a testimony of how Joel affected Ellie, and yourself as a player. The flashbacks are here to remind you constantly of that special bond. It culminates when Ellie tries to do the same map trick Joel taught her, but it backfires on her, because she's not him. And Ellie's own failures end up in killing a pregnant woman. That's why she hates Abby so much (who seems to be successful and invicible to Ellie at that point of the game - of course she isn't, given how she loses everything and how she ends up enslaved). Secondly, people can't stand the fact Joel died. But Joel made that terrible choice at the end of the first game of saving Ellie at all costs. He put this on himself. And he then got soft because of the safety provided by Jacksonville and because of the redemption he found with having Ellie. You can feel it all the way during the prologue. They ALL got careless, forgetting how dangerous the world can be. There are tons of details for it : the reports on how many infected they killed during patrols (filled with smileys and jokes, even Joels after a while), the way they bring people in Jacksonville, Joels house (when you visit it, you can feel the guy has turned soft because he has Ellie in his life and he found redemption : he has an artistic soul again, given how much time he's been spending carving wood and playing guitar - things that felt meaningless to him in the first part). I couldn't believe Joel has such a sensitive soul inside given how he had to hide it all after what happened to his daughter and what he had to do to survive during those 20 years. But of course he had to switch off that survivor mentality for it. I guess the first game was right in teaching you you have to give up some of your humanity to survive. That's why he gets killed in the second game. Now about Abby. She plays as a Moby Dick for Ellie until the end. The game makes it a purpose for Abby to be this killing machine full of muscles : so she looks intimidating to Ellie. Invincible. Ellie's weakness to save Joel hits her even harder this way. The two characters are the same, thriving for vengeance, but Abby's a bit ahead on that path. First, the thing her dad says when he tells her he "would do just as Joel to save her" even if her death would prevent humanity for getting a cure, was a way to tell her we all have flaws and one shouldn't be too quick to judge. But of course Abby's blindsided by revenge, just as Ellie is, and she makes so many sacrifices to get to it that in the end it doesn't make her feel any good. Then, Lev and Yara come around. Abby finds redemption by helping them. She eventually says she chooses their side over the Wolves or the Scars. That's the defining moment (on the island) when I started really caring about Abby, and when the game's story and purpose started unfolding. What matters most is the individuals, not the group logic and systemic way of dealing with things (rings any bells to how people flamed this game despite having played it or explored it enough ?). You have to look into individuals and not judge them depending on which group they're a part of. Ellie has noticed this too : first in the museum when she starts seeing the Fireflies weren't as good as she was thinking. Then she comes to the same conclusion when she writes in her diary while in Santa Barbara : "_Fireflies, Scars, Wolves... f*** them all_" . She's on the same mental process as Abby, Abby just being ahead a bit. That's a wonderful character development and morale. And Abby does show remorse and is tortured by what she did. The nightmares didn't go away with Joel's death. And Laura Bailey plays it perfectly when she kills Joel : she has seconds of hesitation and you can feel her vulnerability. Of course she's too consumed by it to show it directly. And I like to think Yara and Lev is a way for her to find purpose again and to redeem for what she did. The game doesn't give you anything easy and you actually have to dig deep into it to get your answers. You have to read diary logs, you have to listen to all of the conversations, you have to look into the environment to get it all. It doesn't treat you like a 5 years old, spoonfeeding you easy answers to make you feel better. I've never seen a game this detailed and well carved. I've never seen a game making me think over and over things, and to think about how we react as human beings. And that's coming from a die-hard Witcher 3 fan. As for the ending, notice how Ellie, when she is about to kill Abby, gets her first "good" flash of Joel. Until then, she was only having flashes of him covered in blood. She was filled with anger and hate. And at the end of it all, when she finally gets her hands on Abby, she remembers him smiling with his guitar. Why does she ? Because she finally has the upper ground. She finally is able to let Abby live or die. She saw her enemy falling to a state she's barely recognizable anymore. She saw her Nemesis, the one person she once saw as invicible and so much stronger than her, being this frail creature. She finally sees the monster she's been hunting is not existing : rather, she sees her in Abby. They're the same. They've experienced the same loss. And she sees how Abby has fallen. And that reminds her of *forgiveness*. She finds redemption. And her losing her fingers and not being able to play guitar is just a way of showing how much of herself she has been losing on this quest for revenge. I felt the ending was uplifting because Ellie seemed to be at peace with it all, for the first time since Joel took her from the Fireflies. She finally has been able to forgive Joel. She was both hating and loving Joel, because on one hand he stole her life purpose (by stealing her immunity purpose : she was still feeling guilty of being alive because of it), but on the other hand, it's thanks to Joel saving her life that she's been able to experience love and friends and what is closest to a normal life. Joel gave her that possibility. And by forgiving Joel, she finally has been able to forgive Abby. Most importantly, she has been able to forgive herself for being alive and not getting infected like Riley. Her life makes sense again. She has grown as a person. And yes, things have been resolved. The game was never about killing a villain (who doesn't exist by the way) ; it never was. It was about forgiveness. And now Ellie has all the cards in hand to play it right and really start anew. This game is a masterpiece. It does have some pacing issues, the game being overstreched in some parts. But you have to bring so much of yourself into the game for it to be rewarding, it's gratifiying. And it's amazing how such a commercial AAA game can be so bold. Just for that, it should be praised instead of being hated blindly. Respect that, and respect the creators. If you don't, you'll end up with nothing more than empty shells of games and you won't be able to complain about companies milking their franchises anymore. And i suggest you all take a look at this wonderful interview of Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson and Neil Drunckmann for more details : @V2jY
Dang I LOVE YOUR COMMENT!!! I totally agree and things that you said are exactly what I thought after playing through TLOU2 over and over again. This is a masterpiece and it doesn't win awards for no reason. I played TLOU2 so much during lockdown and I stopped for few months now but when I listen to the music now after so long, I felt that depressed feelings like I'm Ellie. The thing that ND did though, they make us feel so deeply and the whole gameplay or experience of TLOU2 made me feel like it's a real life memory for me, felt like it happened to me. I think others that hated the game just really looking forward to a "gameplay" and a typical "Main character never dies" mindset rather than really to experience the story (and don't forget this is ND, we already lost some loved characters during TLOU1, honestly it's a thing to be expected). I don't know man, this game is the best. 10/10 definitely!
@@yuckyforest Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. The game leaves indeed a deep mark long after you have finished it. I played it a few times and I took some time to think about it, but I have the feeling I've barely brushed the surface of what the game is hiding underneath all of its layers. Now I truly hope Neil Drunckmann will be able to stay away from all the controversy and continue giving us stories into this world. My biggest fear back then was to get a Last of Us Part II which would have been a simple re-tale or continuation of the first game. The world where it was forever sunset, and I'd be making a cabin out in the forest, a little ways from the local villager town. I don't know why I'm writing this, but TLOU2's soundtrack reminds me of different memories. I always felt better in the end.
nice
I didnt play the game , but watched the gameplay 12 hrs long video , i think this s the best work ever done in all media industry .
I fell in love with it that i wish i didnt know it .
stop defending it for fucks sake, the story was shit
This game was a lot more complicated than a lot of people realized. It wasn't here to pander to our expectations. It was here to tell you a story, unbiased in it's performance, and it doesn't apologize for it.
A good breath of fresh forest air. ❤️
ellie and joel will always have my heart, they give me purpose and this sound just makes life that lil much easier.
if im being honest? this is my favorite game of all time the first one got me in the feels and the second never failed to carry that onward, this is definitely a game you live..you feel every fiber of this game and the fact that its so realistic as to what could happen to us all blows my mind..there is a fungus that does take over the hosts body mainly bugs but that could easily spread to us, this game is beyond words for how accurate life would be not to mention the graphics
I swear everytime I listen to the Last of us sound track I die little because this game was my childhood and I still love it to this day its so beautiful and so well put together I just love it
From time to time. What great music, what an atmosphere, what an aura.
This is one of the saddest games I’ve ever played it hits deep and Ellie went through so much and the music in this game is beautiful and I don’t care what people say but this is a great game.
to me, the best game in history...
34:49 is my favorite :D
me too🥺🥺

Abby"s Theme.
I like how they added a Minor Chord( 07:28 ) just to show the negativity of her. I mean to identify the character...
Not only Abby, but each Character and each Theme is just so beautiful!!❤
if you be here you are a true fan
This music and the game itself really touch certain emotions. Going through a similar journey (without all the blood and death) this music really nails those feelings you have of anger, sadness, regret, moving on. Gustavo is a legend.
This game has soul like no other.
Rdr2 too
I guess just the setting of the game just is so sad, you are in a world apocalypse, you lose those you love by flesh eating infected people. You find people you trust and love so dear its like the family you once had. Imagine having to endure that again and end up alone in a world that just collapsed on you. You knew it would've came again but you didn't know how soon it could've been, because being with the people you love changed time itself you never really know someone's gone till they really are gone, the memories are what truly kill it for us.
listening to this during lockdown part 2 while in class at home and I'm just crying because of the memories theses song gives me
Is not a game, is one form to live this amazing World🙏
I just can’t stop playing this .from June I play this game over and over again .Love the tlou 2
Bad story tho
@@airship861 OK BUT WHO TF ASKED?
the calm before the storm is always right before you having a really good day and
then like a blast of thunder that good day disappears and it shouldn't happen to a teenager.
I played the last of us the 1st one mannn it was so gooood and now can't wait to get part two on pc, which i will buy next week!
Here's why, to me, this game is a masterpiece and even better than the first part in many ways :
First thing first, people got overcarried by the hate coming from the leaks, which were out of context.
100% support man, TLOU 2 is a masterpiece
I'm so glad he made the right move and proved us there are many more interesting stories to be told along the one of Joel and Ellie.
@@kaseigunsou Yeah, it became a deep dark memory to me and I would wanna replay it again and again because it's that good! And the gameplay too, it's awesome! The more I replay the more I think about and noticed the details too. I agree! Hope he'll be firm and continue with his creativity and production.
This was posted on my birthday! What a nice present
Happy birthday :)
Yeah, this series is going to be astounding
"Shimmer, you move a lot"

The story is really good in the beginning, I feel when it got to Abby part is when it started going down hill. That being said it’s a fantastic game and everyone should have it! The gameplay is 10 times better than most games I have played. The detail of the game alone is impressive, please go search up Last of Us 2 details and see how much time they spent. The soundtrack and imagery of this game is amazing. This is the game of the year no matter what they say!
I'm a guy, I didn't play this game but I saw the movie, now when I listen to this music I have tears in my eyes
the hell are you talking about. there's no movie about the game ...
@@NarutoUzumaki-hj2hb he probably means all the cutscenes
@@harleymoody34 ah
@@harleymoody34 wait why would you only watch the cutscenes
@@NarutoUzumaki-hj2hb personally I wouldn't but a lot do just look up any game with “all cutscenes" the are really popular.
This makes me wanna play the game for 3rd time.. what a masterpiece..

Best game ever. As barely a gamer I'm in awe. Don't know how to move on to other games....
me gusta mucho esta música, bro ojala crezcas mas por subir lo que uno busca para relajarse y acordarse de que TLOU es el mejor puto juego del mundo a mi parecer.
Toujours aussi envoûtant, à écouter sans modération 😌👍🌿
This game was polarising when it came out obviously. But in a few years time it's going to be looked back on extremely fondly by those of us who enjoyed it. It's a seriously mature and bold story to tell. I can't believe they took so many risks, knowing that they'd upset a lot of the fanbase. But I'm glad they did. What a game.
This game is so beautiful.
Regardless of what you think of the game, the composer did such a great job with this score.
Very true. The score helped capture the emotions where the dialogue couldn't
I like part 1 way more, but this game was just beautiful, with the music and the design, no game has ever made me feel like I was in the game more than tlou, 1 and 2
Thank you for this man, it's a great mix.
best games i ve ever playe tlou1 and tlou2 ❤️
The first song is like when you are just sitting and thinking about yourself and your future. Its amazing, but really sad.
God Gustavo, you did good man, you did good.
Botei a música pra estudar e me deu vontade de chorar. Que jogo! Criando coragem pra jogar novamente kkk
The best soundtrack of all time, be it games or movies. I listen to meditate, I listen to go running, I listen on a rainy day, I just love ❤️
Just finished the game and I dont know what to say. This game is a masterpiece.
Best game ever made, in the history of our species.
If aliens ever visited Earth... I would show them this tremendous piece of art.
I'm sure a couple of them would cry.
Probably would make them leave or kill all humans
hope they wouldnt think it was based on real events
after playing the WITCHER 3 AND ALL its dlcs , ..... i still can't decide who's best
definitely a close toss-up
Honestly one of the best games ever made!
NO! Dogshit story
more than a year later and i still use this to relax/study
A masterpiece in all sense.
More than one year has passed, and I can't get it out of my mind...
I don't care if Tlou 3 (If is ever is released) is terrible or whatever. I just want it to come out. The attraction and addiction I have for this franchise is uncannily intimate and feels like something personal.
I play this on loop more times than I'd like to admit
que mejor que estudiar con la música de fondo de este increíble juego
this music had me going throughout all of lockdown
Great video! Peace and calm while watching n listening, the scene of nature is peaceful n serenity. So good for stress relief n relaxation! Best soothing music tune. Awesome!🎶🎧
the best game since it came out and now i wish it come part 3.....
You should watch TLOU strategist, he has some great videos about part 3 predictions how it would make sense compared to Ellie's hero journey
This song is giving me memories.... 😌
playing Red Dead 2 with this as soundtrack is peak epicness. Not to knock the RD2 soundtrack its amazing but this just hits different.
even if it has nothing to do with the game this music reminded me when my father played halo c.e. for me in the parts with the Flood (or alien zombies) Because zombies frightened me and still frighten me, and he played for me even though he didn't like it and bored them to death just for let me go on whit the story ... I miss him.
I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you find him in the next life.
