  • ◈ Beethoven : Piano Trio in D Major Op.70 No1
1st Movement Allegro vivace e con brio
2nd Movement Largo assai ed espressivo
    3nd Movement Presto

For all the undoubted brilliance of Chopin and others Beethoven is the towering genius presiding over the piano repertoire. This is among the finest pieces of chamber music he wrote. The best of the best. We are privileged.

bro saying Beethoven wrote better piano music than Chopin is crazy :( chopin towered over beethoven in this regard

So many different iterations for this group. After the original playing line up which was unbelievable and unbeatable - every other iteration should just be called Pressler and friends.

The box set of Haydn trios is superb but is played by a different line up. The pianist is the same but the violinist was Isidore Cohen and the cellist Bernard Greenhouse

I saw them twice at Jordan Hall in Boston 2000-2005 with the same line up. Both times they played "Ghost" and "Archduke." I always wanted to hear them play some Haydn piano trios in concert. The box set of complete Hadyn trios by them is precisely "desert island music" as The Penguin Guide to Classical Music stated. Heavenly. And this is on that same astral sphere.

TURN OFF THE ADVERTISEMENTS! YOU ARE RUINING THE MUSIC. HAVE ONE AD BEFORE THE PIECE BEGINS, IF YOU MUST, BUT INTERLACING ADS THROUGHOUT THE COMPOSITION IS INTELLECTUALLY AND MORALLY EVIL IN ESSENCE.

With due respect to all other composers and different opinions, I can't understand how Beethoven's name can be mentioned, included or compared to other composers!? Is it ignorance? or pretence of knowledge ?

No doubt Beethoven was one of the best composers of all time, but I wouldn’t devalue all the other remarkable geniuses. I think they’re all great in different ways)

@@arimakousei6523 geniuses is an easy word used very lightly. Beethoven uniqueness among all others came from that hos the only one before it since that hos music covered all spectrum of light earth and fire. The human struggle .. pain and suffering. It is definitely it is not an entertaining music... it is not a background music. His music needs complete silence and reflection to be able to revolutionised our way of viewing others and the universe and bad and good. It philosophy express in music

This movement is not marked presto but their interpretation heads in that direction. Allegro vivace e con brio needs to be distinguished from presto.
