    This is a really cool study on the map design in majora's mask. I was surprised how connected it all was!

    Ocarina of Time's River flow is somewhat similar. Zora's Fountain is high up, Zora's river flows downhill (the waterfall that guards the entrance) into hyrule field where it acts as a moat for Hyrule castle, heads into Gerudo Valley, and then empties into Lake Hylia.

    Following rivers to there source has always been a niche hobby of mine and I thank you for scratching it! Lol
    It’s such a niche niche among niches!
    But as a video suggestion/recommendation: Could you investigate the snowpeak area in Twilight Princess, specifically the first area between Zora’s Domain entrance and the surfing spot, and see if it’s Lord Jabu-jabu pond?
    I remember seeing an offshoot theory about that but literally no one has investigated it further and I’ve never been able to investigate it myself.

      Lol ill add it to my list! Maybe ill have to track down every river in Nintendo Games 🤔
      But I won't be jumping there anytime soon! Still tons left to cover here

    This game was made in a YEAR
    Seriously. I never realized how many buildings in clock town just have water running through them, or how those rupees in the laundry pool probably do come from the curiosity shop, given the direction and proximity. Termina having so many underground rivers and aquafers makes it seem more mysterious to me. Like the rest of the game, there's more hidden under the surface

    It's amazing how many topics we can extract from a game and how well designed details like these are. Keep up the good work!

    The tunnels/sewers that connect Clock Town to the observatory are certainly man-made, and run roughly along the path from Clock Town to Ikana Canyon. Considering the height of Ikana Canyon compared to the ground-level of Termina field when we enter, its fairly safe to say the river in Ikana is actually pretty high. And with gravity pulling things downward and all, its entirely likely theres an underground off-shoot of water that runs from the Canyon to Clock Town. This would allow Clock Town to create their own paths for the lower water levels to run through the Observatory tunnels while also coming from the direction of the Canyon
    The theory about snow from the Mountain melting and becoming the towns water sounds great, until we remember the mountain has only been so snowy recently when Majoras Mask cursed the area with the blizzard. The area we enter the mountain fron always stays snowy during the game, true, but with the rest of the mountain not staying snowy after clearing the dungeon, its somewhat safe to say whats left in Termina Field wouldnt be enough to fuel a water source for Clock Town to build their aquaducts based off of year round, although I do feel the area being an essential melting point for the snow does account for the nearby flooded grotto, but I personally feel the Ikana River feeds into Clock Town, and it kind of has a perfect meaning
    So the Royal Family of Hyrule held the Triforce in the highest regard, and was provided a water source from their nearby allies, the Zora. The Ikana Royal Family, however, held the Triforce with disrespect, as evident with the Triforce being on the bottom (or underneath) the floating cubes used to access Stone Tower and in a spot or two around Ikana Castle. This Royal Family was not given a water source from allies, but instead gave a water source to nearby communities. Im not sure how Ikana considered Clock Town, but my yearning for the poetry of the situation would lead me to believe they maybe regarded Clock Town as enemies, giving a lovely duality between the two Royal Families

    I'm watching this video for the 2nd time and I'm still shocked at the amount of little details that have gone into this game. who would have thought that the creators would take into account all the currents of the river, including underground? unimaginable. and tie it all together so smoothly....

    honestly, ive never heard anyone mention the water down below. i used to try to jump on the pin wheel as a kid, failed every time. also, glad you mentioned the ikana -> southern swamp transport!! that one is always fun to tell people. but, i honestly have never thought about the rivers and water systems. its honestly shocking how cohesive a lot of this is! once again, your uploads make my day :) you always help teach me new stuff about this game, we will never know everything about it!

    Great video man. Only recommendation is making your thumbnail more succinct. Theres a lot of tex on it with the main text being essentially the same side as the rest. It helps to have a couple big words in bold with a simple image easy to make out from a glance. Such as an image of the water wheel with "river's origin?" Or something of the sort. Or else it just looks like a random game frame

    Interesting theory and good work tracking all water sources to see if they make sense. I don't believe Termina is as connected to Hyrule like this, so I'll go with the underground rivers we can't access point.
    "Zoras seem to misplace their eggs all the time"
    They do? Because Majora's Mask is literally the only time we see Zora eggs, and we don't even know if the Hylian counterparts are oviparous too (and Lulu's eggs weren't "misplaced", they were stolen by pirates).

    What a crazy awesome tour through all of termina follwing a mystery!!!! I never would of thought twice about where the river flows!
    But now I think it's gotta be what links Hyrule and Termina together! They are so similar. Almost like parallel universes... hmmm 🤔 two fountains... it's gotta be symbolic of Hyrule and termina! You cant jump on one of them cause Hyrule is out of your reach! But you're in termina so you can jump on the other! And maybe that's why if you follow the river it all ends there. Leaving you with a clue to the answer of where the water comes from.

    I think you're on to something. You really did your research and you definitely have a solid thesis. But i don't think it's ZORAS river. Doesn't zoras river flow from the east?

    • @brandobatel
      @brandobatel  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It does flow from the East, buttt I'm unsure how inter-dimensional portals plays into river flow effects haha

    No, you don't see Zoras River in Lost Woods. That's a different Body off Water. Snowpeak makes to much sense on it's Own, i don't understand wy you gave it away for Zoras River.

    • @brandobatel
      @brandobatel  ปีที่แล้ว

      lol you are probably right. but it was the most fun idea of the 4; it could explain how the Zora's ended up all the way down stream!

    • @seretith3513
      @seretith3513 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brandobatel I think Sea Zoras arn't nessessarely those from Lanayru. They could come from anywere as they are not stated to be Endemic to Hyrule prior to OoT even if they Originate in it.

    • @brandobatel
      @brandobatel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely. the Lanayru Region isn't even in all the games, and when you have games that take place in Other Worldy Areas like Termina or Koholint Island that are out side of our Regular Hyrule, it becomes even more interesting!
