      a10warthog61 you’re saying this but in reality I bet you’re the unathletic one you’re talking about 😂

    • @bearatts
      @bearatts 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @a10warthog61 I get what you're saying, but there is professional fishermen out there, and honestly there is training involved. Training is practicing. Professional sports require practicing. Not everyone can be a professional athlete, not anyone can be a professional angler. You have to be good at it, so it requires skill, so does regular athletics. In college a fishing scholarship is considered an athletic scholarship. A regular Joe can't be a professional angler, you have to have skill, and be able to consistently win money in those tournaments. I believe professional angling is by all definition a sport. There's plenty of sports that there isn't a draft for. I think the closest comparison would be tennis or golf. In those respects they're identical, golf and fishing that is. You take the same path to become professionals. You start out in highschool, then you get a scholarship, or try out for your college team, then you practice and do tournaments, and when you leave college, if you're good enough you go on to professional tournaments, and if you're good enough you make a living traveling the country doing it. If you're not good enough, then you either end up teaching it, or working in the industry somehow. So my stance is this, if you don't consider fishing a sport, then you don't consider golf or tennis a sport. So then you should tell Sarina Williams, tiger woods, Roger Federer, and Kevin Van Dam that they aren't playing a sport.

      Kevin Carpenter it’s a hook by Gamakatsu called “Finesse Wide Gap Weedless”. Just tie your line to this hook (Gary uses a snell knot) and that’s it. Also, you can buy this hook on Gary’s website. Good luck!

  • @billwhite7099
    @billwhite7099 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Mr. Houston I don't know how much you do this or if it's a regular feature, but I think it's awesome. I could listen to men talk about their careers in fishing for as long as I could sit still. I'm fifty years old so of course I've seen you on tv for years. My buddy and I were talking about how our fishing has been influenced, by the likes of you, Roland Martin, Bill Dance, Hank Parker, and others, in ways we probably don't recall. We were both raised by dad's who fished so of course we learned a lot from them, but I mimicked my worm fishing from Bill, line watching from Roland, and you taught me how to roll cast a spinner bait. I mean straight watched your show and by the end of a mornings fishing I was dinging dock poles at will. I know I'm running on but oh well, I'm still gonna recite what I remember. You said to keep your elbow into your side, and turn your wrist like you turning a knob on a door, son of a gun if it didn't work. So thanks, I'm sure you get thanked all the time but you deserve it. You've helped a lot of people in a lot of ways. Keep making these videos with your old buddies they're stories are too good not to share.

I started using the Hulu Grubs in 81 on Bull Shoals Lake in Northern Arkansas and it totally switched me from a jig and pig or jig and twin tail to the grubs. And Jimmy you are one awesome fisherman and spokesperson for the sport and art of fishing. Thank you both. Peace.

    Loved this vid, 2 Legends just out enjoying life and fishing. I can't even remember the year I had to watch Jimmy on Saturday mornings "Jimmy Houston Outdoors" I know exactly when I started buying Yamamoto baits from Page Lake Powell Arizona. Only way to buy them was from his warehouse by phone . This was 1986 for me. Watermelon and the Black blue flake Hula Grubs were my tourney winners and go to baits. I switched from Slugo's to Senko's almost immediately when they hit the market. Thank you for the life time of memories Jimmy and Gary as I pass down my stories to my family

      Yeah,slugo's worked good and 10in black power worm used to be my go to. My go to soft bait now is Strike King Shim E Stick green pumpkin chatruese swirl,or Strike King Rage Tail 4in Menace summer craw. They seem to work pretty good. And I put a little Pro Cure green bass scent on too. I'm not really a perch or trout Fisherman but sometimes even a big trout or a perch will eat those. I've even caught a turtle and 2 bull frogs off them things. Bull frogs can scream,really really loud almost like a woman screaming. Freaked me out when I was taking the hook out.

    I don't know why pros don't use more senco worms it's a great way to catch a lot of fish and to keep it more simple. You don't need a dozen boxes full of tackle to catch fish

    • @trooper1293
      @trooper1293 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Terry Wilson because now their job is to convince you that you DO need all those lures. The lure companies can't make money if you aren't buying them. Plus all the cry babies who say senkos are cheating.

    • @chrisjones720

I just heard save it and we will put it in another pond. In Maryland, people have put aquarium fish in their own ponds and after flooding, those fish are now in public waters...last one was be the snake head fish? Anyway, no be hard, no foul.
