@@julesleyheyou’re welcome! I love slide but there doesn’t seem to be much about old timey blues style apart from beginner lessons so I guess it’s easy enough to learn and all about adapting it in a more modern way myself if I want to progress on that sound further - using more emotive playing perhaps? Any tips?
@@julesleyheSahib is one of my favorite Derek Trucks tunes. I know he studied at Ali Akbar school of music. I used to know one of the teachers wives. She was a friend of my previous GF.
Just remember, this is MY top 5 list haha just my opinion. Enjoy! 0:00 - Intro 0:14 - Number 5 3:41 - Number 4 7:25 - Number 3 12:09 - Number 2 14:34 - Number 1
Thank you so much Degroove, we really appreciate the great feedback! We’re putting videos out weekly so please enjoy all of our videos and subscribe if you haven’t already!
How do you get that great tone with sustain but not overly crunched or fuzzy you normally hear with OD pedals? I know you've used the Ceriatone amp at some point in your earlier videos along with a volume pedal. If you discuss it in one of your posted videos, please just let me know which one. Thanks!
Great Q, and thank you for the compliment! In this video all I’m using for overdrive is my Two Rock Bloomfield drive to get the overdrive tone. For me the magic tone is right on the sweet spot of being not too overdriven that the tone is squashed but also have enough “meat on the bone” so that it sustains nicely. I’m now playing a Two Rock and really love how the amp reacts to my playing! Hope this helps! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
@@julesleyhe Thanks very much for your feedback. Coincidentally, I've been looking on Reverb at Two Rock Bloomfield heads. The price on Two Rock amps give me nosebleeds! You did also get great tone from your Ceriatone amp as well so maybe it's in those fingers and slide. 😄👍
I way prefer the old blues ‘attitude’ slide playing than the more modern gospel-singer style slide. Love it!
Thanks man!

This is where I’ll start. Thanks Jules!
You’re welcome! I definitely think that getting these tunes under your belt is a key to being a great slide player!

How do you get that tone?
For this video I was using the matteus asato plugin by neural DSP - really cool plugin with lots of tone options!
