Stomper had been running and driving nicely this past week. But today it all went wrong. It left us stranded on a hill. Need your help to diagnose the issue.
I got stuck out in the Australian bush with a failed clutch slave cylinder on a Falcon 5.4 V8, thankfully i had some thick gear oil with me and used that. It was just think enough not to leak out and got me home. 🇦🇺
Check the bushings and pivot point of the gear selecting bell crank on the tranny for the gear selection problem. As far as the clutch goes, it's cable operated, so you're not having hydraulic bleed down issues. That said, my Chilton's manual does not cover clutch cable adjustments, only pedal hight adjustment. I can send you pics of the appropriate pages if we can find a way to connect securely.
I did remove the gear selector and double checked everything was in place. Bushings were replaced a few months ago. Clutch cable is fully cycling the shift arm.
My guess is something with the shift linkage or bushings. The clutch seems to work, it like you aren’t always in the gear you select. Or a gear at all. Which makes me think sloppy linkage or bushings.
The bushings were just replaced. I took the snap ring out and checked everything. Lubed it up and put it back together. In neutral on transmission and clutch out it’s grabbing.

I’ll look at the master. I did check fluid and it was full when I was having issues.
🤔 interesting... im sure you and Bearded Wrencher will get it sorted !
I hope so. I’m hoping to fix it on my own so I don’t have to take it over to him.

You have a nice father-in-law.
He’s a good guy.
Should be covered under warranty 🤷♂️
Unfortunately no warranty. Rockauto parts and beardedwrencher and I did it in his garage.
Id lean towards something with the linkage over a clutch. Is the clutch making any noises? It may be a bad shift fork or pad on it.
Hopefully it’s not a bad shift fork. That’s a very involved process.
@@hughbertsprojects yes it is. I've learned to hope for the best, but expect the worst
I agree. We will find out in a few weeks.
Should have bought a Chevy.
I did. It gets bad mpg.
