To one therapist and avid reader to another, I LOVED this vlog! I know how hard it is to go through the work week and then to make a vlog on top of it-what a rockstar!
It makes me so happy to see you live out your dream! I’ve been watching you since you were just talking about wanting to become a therapist & here you are now! In one year I hope to be in the same position as you & live out my own dream (I’m currently a 4th year medical student waiting for match day & graduation 🤞🏼)
I always feel like such a proud mom whenever I see how far you have come! I was an undergrad when I first started watching you, now I have a full-time job and am currently finishing my master's in Applied English Studies. So it always feels like we grew together. Thank you for sharing your life with us! It really helps make me feel like I've made progress in my own. xoxo
As a person with a therapist it’s been interesting to see your perspective on what your life looks like bc it makes me think about what her life looks like outside of the hour she spends talking to me once a month 😅
I just wanted to say that you are the reason I went to my first pole class. I love your channel and saw your second Instagram page and couldn't stop watching your videos and went to my first class January 2020. Today is my second pole anniversary and I'm now instructing at my studio and Xpert Certified in level 1 & 2 and spin pole. I'm working on getting certified in level 3 & 4, Lyra, silks, and flexability flow. You changed my life. So much. I am unbelievably thankful for you! You were KILLING it on your days back in 1 & 2 and I'm so happy to see you do something that brings you joy. For what it's worth, I've never thought pole OR books have defined you. You define you and you're absolutely amazing and inspirational in so many ways. I appreciate you. ❤
The fact that I literally perked up when you said you work at a DBT place 😂 I did a DBT intensive outpatient program in 2015 and it was literally life changing. Not to say it wasn't hard work and isn't still hard work to make sure I incorporate the skills into my daily life, but it was so helpful and made me understand myself so much better. Thank you for the work you do for others!
Ive been watching your videos since you were in undergrad and it is SO COOL to see that you’ve finished grad school and are a full time therapist now! I’m so proud of you Emma and thanks for letting us join you on your journey ❤️
I love the different types of content. I love vlogs to see how others live and have so many aspects of their lives like work and make up and fashion and books and all the other passions. And I love your music taste as well💗
I have been watching you for four years now so it's so lovely to see how far you've come as far as your degree and your life. It's really inspiring to someone like me, who is planning on getting a Ph.D in Psychology.
Emma, your vlogs are some of the best content on TH-cam bar none! It doesn’t matter if you’re just going about your day or traveling all over the place, you yourself just make the vlogs super fun and interesting! Looking forward to more in the future 😍. Also, really proud of how far you’ve come since going to school and now as a practicing therapist. That’s really an amazing accomplishment 🙌
I haven't watched your channel in a few, but I have been following your IG. And girl... you are THRIVING. You look so damn happy, and I LOVE THAT. You're beautiful and kind and wonderful. Thanks for existing!!!!
ahh love this, Emma!! Love seeing your life play out over the years and I'm so excited that you are living your dream of being a therapist!! You've always inspired me so much, Emma!! :)
thank you for making this video! i’m looking at schools right now to be a counselor and your vlogs are very helpful at showing me what life as a counselor is like!💕
My mom makes the perfect grilled cheese. Country crock on both sides, cheese in the middle. Turn the grilled cheese over when the butter on the top starts to melt and then give it a few more minutes before you check to see if it’s ready. Cook until you’re happy with the level of toast.😊💛
Love seeing a little bit into your life! I started following you before you started grad school and now you’re a therapist omg! So cool congratulations!
I like talking hair: Doing a tone or a gloss at home is actually pretty easy, and I always found it color corrects better and is less drying and damaging than purple shampoo back when I had blonde in my hair. I liked the brand Ion from Sally Beauty, their Bright White line. I used to mix a few shades of the bright whites (IIRC Spring Blossom, Lavender Moon, and Platinum Lace), some of the demi clear gloss, and use a level 10 developer. You could probably use just one shade, but I liked mixing them to avoid them tinting the blonde visibly grey/pink/purple. I also added the demi clear because it made my hair shiny. I found the employees at my Sally were helpful when I was looking into toning at home the first time. Olaplex No.0 is just a weaker form of Olaplex No.1, so if you tone your hair at home, you can add it to the mix following the directions from Olaplex No.1 for use in the toner. I would do a toner every 6-8 weeks or so, for 10-15 minutes, and follow up with a hair mask. I liked doing 4 parts my favorite low protein conditioner, 1 part honey, 1 part aloe, and 1-2 parts a hair-friendly oil (I usually used grapeseed oil because my hair and skin both like it). I got the recipe from a hair forum (the recipe was called Snowymoon's Moisture Treatment). I have never applied shampoo directly to the lengths of my hair before I had a blonde balayage. When I had to start doing so with purple shampoo to tone the brassiness out my hair felt so damaged. When I switched back to my normal shampoo and shampooing only my scalp, and instead doing a tone every 6-8 weeks, my hair felt and looked so much better. Now, most (if not all) of the bleached hair has grown out and been chopped off. I wash my hair 1-2 times a week. I'll sometimes generously oil my hair the morning of or the night before washing my hair. I'll sometimes do Olaplex 0 or 1 on dry hair, until damp but not dripping. Soak for 10-15 minutes and then add Olaplex 2 or 3 (wetting my hair a bit more if needed) on top of the previous step. I'll put my hair in a bun and let soak for anywhere between 15 minutes to 2 hours. Then I shampoo, usually do a Lamellar water rinse or quick hair mask while I wash my body. And then do conditioner. I also like to add 1-3 leave-ins to my damp hair (I like Olaplex No6 and 7, as well as some stuff from Eva NYC and Amika currently). I also use a shampoo and conditioner with low pH. It's a lot and a bunch of different products, but since I wash less frequently they last a long time and I don't mind as much that it takes longer than just jumping in the shower. I also rarely ever use heat products, but I know that doesn't work for everyone. I sleep in loose braids tucked into a satin bonnet. (Honestly, sleeping in protective hairstyles and washing my hair less frequently are the first things I ever did to try to improve my hair a decade ago and they made such a difference). I use soft fabric scrunchies (like silk, satin or velvet) to secure my hair. And I'm gentle any time I brush or detangle my hair. And it seems to be worth it. I went to a salon for a haircut recently for the first time in 4 years. The hairdresser kept complimenting how healthy my hair was, especially considering I hadn't been to a hairdresser in 4 years.
Love the inventive Christmas tree! Thanks for sharing a week in your life as a therapist! I’m actually starting my Clinical Mental Health Counseling program this month, and I’ve enjoyed following along with you in your studies/career!
I’m all for more vlogs! Love that you are doing pole again! It’s so intriguing and such a cool hobby. I wish I had the strength and self esteem to do something like that so for now I just like watching you!!!!!!
Ahhh, this video was so comforting to watch, if you do more of these regularly I would be so happy,I really like hearing you talking about what happened to you in your day, so hoping for more of these in the future ✨💚
As a about to graduate grad student in social work, I’d love to see what you recommend for activities with clients, and office essentials, planners etc!
As your elder, lol, I must say, knowing people in the generations below me, like yourself, are part of this world, make me sleep a little better at night. You're just a good person, in a lot of ways, I'm sure you know that, but I'm just reinforcing it! I've always loved your vlogs but I'm really enjoying seeing you grow and enter the "real world" cause it quite literally sucks but, it's like the best too??! lol
I am really sorry about being two weeks late watching this video as I am really struggling with my anxiety and mental health issues so please stay safe and enjoy your reading love your Australia fan John xxxx
I bought a little grilled cheese maker for like $12 at Walmart. It looks like a little waffle iron but inside is a square with a diagonal line. So you make a grilled cheese in it and it presses it into 2 triangle pockets. The cheese always melts perfectly. Use garlic parmesan butter (also at Walmart for like $2) and it’s even better!
i love your channel so much!! i was wondering if you were planning on ever doing a video ranking cassandra clare books? i would love to see your favs (and least favs too)😉
This was such a great vlog. Thank you for showing us a day in your life. ❤️ the social justice volunteering you’re doing sounds AMAZING! Such important work I totally relate to the whole if I have stuff to do later in the day I’m literally counting down the minutes beforehand 🤣🤷♀️ I’m not a therapist but more like a case manager and alllllways procrastinate my notes 😅
42:23 - Just wanna go on the record here. My childhood memories tell me that more-so than grandfather clocks, everyone had that one friend who's DOORBELL was this melody.
I also do pole (almost for 8 years now) and I at least know how it is to be 'the girl who does pole' in my university or other areas of my life. But I get what you say. Sometimes it's so difficult when you lose strength because of a big break. But it takes time I guess so give this time to yourself and your body :)
This is so cool!! I used to watch you when you got into grad school while I was in high school and now I’m applying to grad school haha waiting to hear back is stressful! Just wanted to share that 😂 happy new hear!
Grilled cheese hack. Put a lid on top of the pan and when the butter on top of the sandwich melts it usually means the bottom is the perfect golden brown and ready to turn over.
Omg I always get a venti chai latte with oat milk and two pumps of vanilla… SOO good. And it’s super funny because I saw your cup and was like I wonder if that’s a chai latte lol
I started following you back when you were still an undergrad. Can't believe you already finished your master's and started your career. Ya'll grow up so fast, goddamn 😭
You're so right that nobody talks about hobbies that become part of your identity and what happens when you stop for a while... I have that relationship with writing. Your pole work was awesome, keep going!! Thanks for this video :) p.s. get more sleep lol
Ohhh nice I hope Jake loves the Hayley Williams vinyls I ordered them too. I also got a telfar bag in chocolate recently due to your influence on Instagram. I hope you keep doing vlogs I love them
