- This is a review of the fully updated (14/03/2014), of the scanner MaxiDas DS708 from Autel.
I have tried to cover the bit I believed that have been missed on the other reviews out there.
Any questions will be answered as best as I can.

I just brought one from Autel Australian and they gave me two versions of the software the upto date version and old version ... and today I added 3 keys and remotes to an Australian VE Commodore 2008 model the Autel ds708 was very easy to use it is a great little machine .. I have two more Australian cars to do one BA ford Ute 2004 model and one Holden rodeo 2009 model

Sir, can this scanner preform ecu/ module relearn or rewrite vin in to new ecu?
Yes... but depends on the car... not all systems allow you to do it...

did you use the obd1 connectors? i heard that the general motors and ford wont work with obd1, have you tried? thank you
I no longer have this tool...
I don't think I ever had to use those OBD1 adapters...
I definitely used the mercedes 32 pins and the BMW round one...
The GM and Ford I don't recall ever using them...

Not really...
With a paid subscription you should be able to download all the softwares into a new card...

Hi i thought ob2 port connection was universal why all those other connectors . Amazon are selling ds 708 for £415.00 i assume it has same capacity as yours what do you think.

Judging by the date you have this machine for 2 years now, any problems? Do you use it as an enthusiast or do you make money from it?

Although you can still buy the DS708, this has been superceded by the MS906.
You then have other high end machines, but with an also much higher price tag.
Watch my other videos, and you can have a better idea of what this DS708 is capable of... some of the strengths and weaknesses.
With a bit of research, you can find this machine brand new and original for about £600 - £700.
I have this machine as a general scanner, as I then have the OEM interface for more specific jobs...
But, if you want a scanner to work in a business environment, I would recommend the MS908 or the MS908P.
Please remember, I have no connections with autel, this is just my opinion from my experience with the DS708.

Can I plug the software card in to my laptop and copy the contents to my HDD and if I copy it to a new card will it work ??

I done that, when upgraded from 8gb to 16gb...

I have the DS708 now about a year and very satisfied with it, like our friend says already, few minor small improvement that have to be done but not crucial. Anyway, if you think about getting one, I suggest you to get the new model, because update for the DS708 will stop, at least that's what I heard.
I have a small issue with the logos companies after the update !! any suggestion about restoring those logos, as I said not really a problem but it's looking better with them than without .

Just put the card on your computer and delete the new logo...The DS708 automatically load the old maker logo...

Perhaps in a next update will go back to the European screen,,,

Which adapter are you talking about?
Prior the "D" shape 16 pins, VW was fitted with the 2 plugs, black and white, black for the 12 volts, white for the "K" and "L" lines, both adapters come with the machine.
Do you know if this tool will work with Ford Diesel Pick Up trucks?

Do you still use this machine please. I have mine and my sd card just fryed with no back up and autel want me to pay for out dated update. Was wondering if you had copy off file could send to me. I dont mind paying something for it. Cheers

Maxisys supercedes the DS708, I would recommend you to take a look at the website for more information.

All functions are the same...

Unfortunately I can't compare with other scanners...
The updates cost around £400 for 12 months.
A good thing is that the scanner continues to work after the subscription period is finished...
I am happy with the DS708 as a general multi maker scanner.

I can program keys, but limited to a few makers and models...
In code out codes, if is that what you mean, can't do it...
Remember that tha primary function of the scanner is code reader...

Unfortunately I can't answer that one...
the worst machine out there is this one every year you have to pay $700 a year and if you don't renew it the system shuts down and stops working
Absolutely agree... but MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THIS MACHINE DOES NOT STOP WORKING AFTER THE SUBSCRIPTION IS EXPIRED. ..
As an part time enthusiastic, that was one of the reasons why I have chosen this machine.

+carlitosgy6 Hi! Possibly, In UK the renew for the DS708 was last year£400... I know for a fact that Snap On was about the double....
Please bear in mind I have nothing to do with Autel... I am just a car enthusiastic that bought a diagnostics machine, and decided to share with others the capabilities of the scanner.
+lmsvvavr here in us autel will charge me 650 bucks, snap on just charged my friend 600 for the update, this scanner is very good i use it every day but it has its flaws like not working on any toyota with the 23 pins from 2000 down, nissan older like 99 down, but is great on newer cars, specially European
