California girl here. So happy to see you on West Coast enjoying your time. Glad you got some tacos. Hope to meet you on a Princess cruise sometime. Thats the only line I cruise.
Dang. We should have done a meet up. Glad to see you out in California. We really enjoy selling out of LBC. There is often a dolphin pod that follows next to the ship as you leave port. Hope you had a great trip. We did Hearst Castle for our mothers day trip. 👍 you need to go if you haven't yet.
😢 you missed the most incredible ride opportunity. The Sea advantage ride is second to none. I highly suggest you vist it next time. I would go on that ride over all other park rides that our out there. 🏖🚢👍🐟🐡🐠
you had me for a minute. You were walking. "a Starbucks only a mile down the road." Wow, you go Tony, walking that early in the morning, get steps in. Cut to: in car pulling into Starbucks!!
come on man!!
I got your Karnak reference. I was born in 1973, used to watch Johnny Carson with my grandparents.
I 5:35 n a hermetically sealed in a mayonnaise jar on Funk and Wagnals poarch
Being a native Californian it’s fun to see your reactions to what you’re experiencing.
Like the traffic. Hee hee.
I’m a NYC transplant but been in SoCal for 17 years. Enjoying his reactions as well! I’ve discovered SO many different types of foods living out here, and still discovering.
2:46 Carnac, mystic from east. "The great seer, soothsayer, and sage". Shout-out Luda. I still miss Johnny
Never occurred to me to take snacks from breakfast back to room. Genius
😮 lots of places have a sign that says not to take the stuff togo. They dont mind you eating all you can. But they do not plan to feed the whole hotel for the day. I understand both sides and might take a cup of juice or a banana at times. Both thngs i could eat in the room before heading to the car. 🏖🚢👍
That’s a really decent complimentary breakfast.
I travel for work, I always take from fruit, yogurt and a chocy milky as my road snack when i'm at a hotel :)
it is 100% appropriate to take items back to your room
Really enjoy these type of “Day in the life of Tony” videos. Thanks for sharing!
I always bring back snacks back up stairs to my room from the breakfast buffet.
“Really good selection of things you can mix with hot water” 🤣
:)
Very ethical, the hotels add all sorts of fees and resort fees. So yeah. Seemed like a great breakfast spread considering some I've seen with just stale cereals and toast. That walk of fame was awsome.
That hotel has a lot of options for breakfast. I think room snacks are a go. I figure that they probably waste more food than what you took back, and not everyone does breakfast.
400 person or more hote, bet it's not wasted
Hey Tony. That taco place was NOT what they meant by getting tacos in So Cal. You have to go to a Taqueria for street tacos. Asada, carnitas, pastor…. Find one of those and enjoy!
Agree. When Tony gets back, I hope he finds some street tacos.
True. And “street tocos” are a great trend. But those tacos looked excellent. Just because the family is prosperous enough to work in an actual building, with AC, bathrooms, and sinks and drains for cleaning, doesn’t mean they don’t make great food.
Too bad they didn’t go into Carlsbad town and have lunch at El Norte.
Yes agreed on the street tacos and usually after 6pm.
I always bring my food to my room. My son won’t come down for breakfast so I bring it up to him too. I’m so glad you’re showing off So. California and that it’s more here than Los Angeles, Hollywood and Disneyland! 😂
On the Las Vegas Lego City, at the bottom of the screen was The Little Chapel of The West. This is where my husband and I were married 29 years ago.❤
It’s not like you took a huge amount of food to your room. Ya gotta have room snacks!!! I vote ethical!
We always pack snacks from the breakfast. The kiddos get hungry in the car 🤷♀️
“I hold in my hand the envelopes…hermetically sealed and placed in a mayonnaise jar on Funk and Wagnell’s porch since noon yesterday “ Loved the reference…my favorite Carson bit! Enjoy the cruise!
Ground squirrels, Tony. They look like regular squirrels but are burrowers.
Thanks for taking us along. For a Lego enthusiast that’s a great place for you.
I got the Karnak reference. I just turned 60. Loved watching Johnny Carson back in the day. That Lego store was awesome! Regarding great tacos, try something out of a local taco truck. In my opinion, they have the best tacos.
These laid back videos of you just vlogging while on your trip are fun. Thanks for bringing us along.
Good Luck Boys! Have a great cruise. So nice to meet your Brother-In-law. 👍👋👋✌️✌️😎
You’re so right about the free breakfast. I just stayed at the Hilton in Fort Lauderdale by the cruise pier $585 and no free breakfast.
Welcome to So Cal Tony. My sons grew up loving Lego Land. We live 12 miles away in Oceanside. It was great to see you enjoying our beautiful sights that we take for granted.
Yes, Another Sub here from North SD Co! Welcome to our SOCAL!! Enjoy it all!
Definitely take snacks from breakfast, that’s what it’s for!
Carnac was hysterical - yes, 35-40 years ago! And bringing snacks back to the room? Excellent idea! You are just showing them they need to keep certain amounts available every morning for ALL the guests, because a lot of them WILL NOT partake, so you get theirs!
I didn't see it on the menu but as a California local you cannot go wrong with fish tacos.
You can tell he's Jenny's brother!! Enjoying your socal videos
I saw it too. They must have attractive parents.
My grandparents retire to Leucadia, California in the 1950's. Leucadia is south of Carlsbad. Spent my childhood summers there. Back then no interstate 5 , you had to travel Hwy 101 north towards L.A. there were no homes built in amongst the foothills. Just a little lazy beach town. However, that was 60 years ago. Thanks for the memories. Have a wonderful day and Bon Voyage.
I got your reference! I was staying up late watching Carson and David Letterman! LOL
Totally ok to take the morning food for snacks
I was not into Legos as a kid but I found them fascinating. Thanks for showing us Legoland. I would definitely go. Fabulous trip, thanks
Totally ethical!…😊
I think it’s okay to take food back to your room on two conditions: 1) you don’t do it to excess, and 2) you don’t take an item that it looks like they’re running short on (because that would be taking it away from someone).
I believe those were chipmunks.
Kudos to Legoland for going the extra mile for Steve, and yes, I’m glad you went.
Glad you’re enjoying your trip. Bon voyage!
Brother in law Steve is my spirit animal.
Tony, if you’re returning to Long Beach from your cruise, and haven’t already, you should tour the Queen Mary in Long Beach harbor. The beautifully restored art deco Cunard ship still holds the record for the most people carried on a vessel: 16,600 people! We don't remember seeing you visit it previously, and it would make a great episode.
Carnac the magnificent (R.I.P. Johnny)
Thanks for bringing me along! I had a good time!
We drove to Carlsbad from San Diego before a cruise and went to Legoland, and I totally agree with you about the views along that highway, Tony.
I sure enjoyed this video! And I've lived in California for over 60 years!
You were in my old area with going to Carlsbad. The marine layer (clouds) is called the May gray and June gloom. Glad you went Legoland since you were so close. Enjoy your cruise!
😀This must be how Luda feels getting a shout out from Tony. 🎉
I live about 10 miles from Lego land. I hope that you enjoyed it!! The traffic that you hit is a daily occurance.
I always take snacks. I do not have a problem especially when I’m boarding a cruise. 😎☮️
Very Nice.
Thanks Mate
I agree with the room snacks
Wow I have never seen a car with an analog clock like that before
I drove the coast highway from LA to Portland, OR and it was awesome! I love road trips. The squirrels were so tame we could give them water from our bottles and feed them by hand. They approached us with their hands up. My travel mate called them welfare squirrels but I loved them. I'm so glad you got the new cup you wanted! Little things are important. I've trained myself to not get upset when I don't get what I want but to be nice and plainly state my end goal. Seafood taco!! YAY!! I enjoyed seeing the different personalities between you and your bro-in-law. You're so much more animated. Thanks for a fun video during my lunch hour.
Really enjoyed the tour. Love these vblogs especially Legoland. Thanks for taking us along. Enjoy your cruise.
Good Morning. Love your channel. Ty for all of the great videos
Perfectly fine to take some snacks to the room.
So fun to see you in my neck of the woods! I’ve been wondering when you’d finally make it to Legoland.
Safe with me! I get the Karnack connection.
Yeah, I wouldn’t have been able to resist that chocolate milk either! I’m definitely looking twice at this hotel when we cruise out of Los Angeles next march! 😊
The critters looked like chipmunks but I only saw them briefly.
We stayed at that hotel a couple years ago before and after our Panorama Cruise. Great place to play Euchre and watch the kids in the pool. Great place!
Thanks for sharing! I am on the Firenze as well and am on this cruise because of you! I started watching you after I had knee surgery in January and told my husband we needed to cruise again. We already had a West Coast trip planned and this sailing worked out perfectly for us! Would love to meet you while on board! Happy cruising!
I'm a day late... ughhh... this whole working thing is really cutting into my Tony B time!!! 😂🎉
Hershey’s Twizzlers are always in my must-haves road trip snacks. Our local gas stations and some grocery stores keep them in stock just for me (I’m pretty sure 😂)
My wife would take two water bottles away from that “included” (not free) breakfast. I’d rather sit in my room and watch paint dry than put up with that California I5 Traffic. Although, LegoLand was pretty cool!
Glad you're having a great time!! Be careful!!! Have fun!!
If there are NO signs declaring that no food can be removed from the breakfast room, it's fair game.
Loving this adventure
Just did 6 days in LA/Anaheim withe 13 high schoolers and 5 adults, can 100% concur with the “Traffic Math” many of those 20 mile/ 60+ minute drives
Hi Tony. That Taco restaurant is sure expensive. I'm glad you enjoyed your two days in Long Beach.
Great tips. Can't wait for the Loca Bricks video to post.
We just left Long Beach ourselves heading back to Tampa!
Chocolate twizzlers are my favorite. Been enjoying them for more than 40 years.
Love video. Great fun
Good for Steve not turning into a Karen over the cup situation.
Great video. Love the pre cruise “what to do” info. Love to see more.
You're on my home turf! Live about a half hour inland from Malibu. LOVE our scenery!
What do other squirrels look like 😭 I’m confused now what’s wrong with my California squirrels 😂😂 6:37
California minimum wage is $20an hour which impacts the prices of everything, especially small local restaurants.
Hey Tony, it was a pleasure meeting you on board. Keep up your great work. Love your videos. (Alex)
Thanks Alex. It was nice to meet you!
We pronounce it “beer Ee ah”tacos. Yumm! January we arrived 3 days pre cruise to LA. So much to do pre cruise and felt like we were almost done and still had the cruise ahead of us. Highly recommend
Tony, we really enjoy your travel adventures and it adds even more flavor when you have a “special guest star” like your brother-in-law. I could see you with a successful reality travel show lol. You should consider using La Lido Loca as just your Cruise News channel and use La Lida Loca 2 for your travel and cruising Channel. I think that would do well. I know we would enjoy watching the content on both channels and I’m sure many more would as well. Thanks for posting 😊
I really enjoyed this vlog.
Happy and safe sailing! 🛳
That Long Beach to Carlsbad to San Diego commute used to be my weekly drive for my delivery job and I miss it soooo much.
Welcome to the neighborhood! I left Chicago for San Diego 30+ years ago and never looked back. That drive on the 5 heading up to Laguna Beach is the best. Getting into LA, not so much lol.
I can't wait to see your boarding experience in Long Beach. Not the best port in my experience, but it's been a year since my last cruise from there. Hopefully it's better now. The lines were insane the last couple times.
Carlsbad is a great place to visit. We're going in November with our granddaughter. We take snacks to the room as well. Enjoy your trip. I love your videos.
I’ve stayed n the LEGO hotel with grandkids and it was a blast. Loved, also those little model setups. They must their displays but so cute. Did they still have the Star Wars lego setup? I am so happy you went there. Ya Steve scoring with two cups. And, lol, Amazon for the Hersheys Twizzlers. Oh, taking snacks from breakfast back to room, I feel it is ok. You guys did it right by taking some time to do things. Tacos in CA differ a lot from each other just like any other place, but there are a lot of choices. You have made me homesick for my CA life, but love this video. Thanks for sharing. ❤
I want to try to stay at long beach sometime, but we always end up in West Hollywood. Finally got to go through the Queen Mary this last time.
For your next SoCal foray, suggest the Getty Museum!
Have a great cruise
Have a great trip!
I always grab some breakfast items for later. Go for it 😂
Yeah definitely have to try the Birria (beer-ee-a) queso tacos from the food trucks on the side of the roads next time 😉
Nice choices!
Awesome Included breakfast!! I will book a hotel based upon the breakfast available
I love you So. Cal. videos. These were fun!!!
As much as I pay for a hotel room? Heck yeah, I'm takin' snacks. I usually grab a bagel, peanut butter and bacon and make a sandwich for lunch.
I live here in San Diego, and I've never been to Legoland. I had planned on going when I bought a pass December 2019!!!! Seriously I need to go!
We take snacks back to the room at hotels too
I recently stayed at a Townplace Suites (similar to Fairfield - and also by Marriott) and they had almost exactly the same included breakfast except that the scrambled eggs were not specified as either cage free or whole (pretty sure they were from powdered eggs, lol). But I was in Thunder Bay, ON versus California, so that might explain it.
I think a chipmunk, but maybe a squirrel instead. Legoland was awesome; we took our two boys.
The Crab Cooker in Newport Beach is a MUST!
Got to see more of Steve. He's cool.
