I watch a lot of sewing tutorials; a lot. None; not a single channel could hold a candle to your channel. For 10 years it’s been you Jenny! Thank you. Stay dedicated. 😊
There is NO other person, that I know of, that CARES enough to take a very difficult quilt, & brilliantly make it into an easy project. I thank YOU Jenny for your time, your giving us the much looked for Friday's project - and God Bless YOU for making it FREE so that ALL can see it & quilt - very generous of you! Thank you.
I agree,I have been watching Jenny for a long time. Any time I am ask about tutorials on quilting I always suggest Missouri Star, my go to! Thanks Jenny!
Wow I was amazed how easy you made this looked..I have stayed away from cathedral windows because it looked so complicated. I am glad I clicked on the video. Thanks, Jenny..
every quilter has their own dream quilt they want to make, This has been one of mine for so many years, and fear to take on the challenge. THANK YOU JENNY!!.. your tutorial is helping me make mission impossible dream come true.. Just received my MSQC fabric I picked just for this challenge. I look so forward to wrapping up in it come Dec/Jan. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!... YOUR THE BEST!!!...
this cathedral window quilt is just beautiful and looks difficult. Jenny takes all the complications out using this tutorial. who would think it is this easy?!!! Thanks Jenny!
The real beauty to this concept of doing cathedral windows is the ability to incorporate them into the design of a quilt without the whole quilt being cathedral windows. I am working on a table runner for Christmas with 6 cathedral windows down the center and its coming out beautifully. My first attempt at cathedral windows.
Many yrs.ago I completed a large Cathedral Window quilt, but it took me l4 yrs. I love this method and will definitely be trying this. I am trying to use up my material, so will nave to do my own cutting. Thank you for the tutorial!!! I appreciate it very much. You are a blessing!
Every time I used to call my mom I would ask her if she was on youtube again, All she has to do is say "I am watching Jenny." and I knew. Now that I got back into sewing and want to make pretty things I can use instead of just piecing a for not ok I don't really care I will fix it later. After the first easy thing she taught me to make I made one for all 3 of my kids as a unique to their personality gift, now I am on youtube non stop watching your channel. Every time she tried to explain to me how to do it from watching you I would look at her like she was speaking greek she tells me "Go watch Jenny she will tell you how to even do the hard things easy. She was right. So now I am really lookig forward to making nice things for our house and this one I can't wait to try. :)
Wow, I love this. Cathedral windows is a lovely pattern. What I like about this, is that it is relatively quick and because you are putting batting between the layers, it is also warm. Way to go Jenny!
I spent 14 years constructing my first Cathedral Window quilt. It was beautiful; but this is very practical and pretty, also. I appreciate the instructions!
This is the fourth cathedral window quilt I have watched this morning. It is by far the easiest in cutting and the least sewing time. Thank you, Jenny!!!
Oh LAAWS Jenny! I literally gasped when you held up that 2.5 square quilt! Because I'm a fan of the Daily Deal, I have some fabulous RJR Pretty Pastel and Optical White in my stash. I'm making this TODAY! I'll post it on Quilts By Me later! Oh I'm SO excited to do this. Thank you Jenny, and all your Designers that figure out all the hard stuff for us. This is just so cool!
Jenny, I have actually hand made the old fashion way, a cathedral window quilt. It took several years and advice from friends and family before I actually understood the concept. Today. I used your technique and whow...... am I impressed, it was fun instead of frustrating. I hope you find your little baggie....... You have to look for it to find it you know. You are my hero.
I absolutely love this technique. I've done Cathedral Windows the "old" way and can't wait to give this a try. I think I'll make a few bed scarfs, using this technique, to give as Christmas presents. Thank you for ALL your videos!!!
Jenny - you saved me! I started in on a very complicated cathedral window pattern but it wasn't turning out. I changed my plan and used your pattern. what an amazing time saver! I used white on white for the background and the windows are really bright colors. Beautiful. Thank you so much!
Simple and easy ... that's the way you always make it ... and beautiful, too. Got to try this one, but, I think I am going to fussy cut the 'inside of the cathedral windows' and use solids on the backing. Beautiful work ... you must love doing this ... only then, can you come up with something so pretty time after time. God bless you and yours for your time, talent and freely sharing with all of us.
Jenny after several years of putting off quilting....because I didn't need another addition....a friend told me about your shop and the wonderful tutorials. I am hooked and look forward to your tutorials every time a new one comes out! And love the man sewing Rob!!!! And the lady from Gemini.....would love to make my way up to one of your retreats.....with my quilting buddies.....maybe one day!!!!!! Thank you for a wonderful new hobby!!!!! God Bless!
Jenny your are wonderful! You've taken another traditional block and made it easier to do. I started a cathedral window awhile back and only did a pillow😜. Keep up the good work. Congratulations on the continued success your family brand has received. God's blessings are all around you 😇
Cathedral Windows is how I started doing patchwork, when I was about 10, as it was the only block my Mum knew how to do! It took AGES! 35 years later, I've made several quilts & am a fabriholic... I love your tutorials & am now going to quilt my version of your Disappearing Hourglass, which was so quick that my poor husband is still in shock (when we first met, he had to make templates for me: triangles in slightly different sizes so that seams would fit etc !). Our daughter Isabel, 15, is on her second quilt; son Hugh, 7, has just made his first cushion cover. We have just got proper internet for the first time (rural Ireland) and I have discovered your excellent tutorials. As a result, when I'm not watching & learning, I'm making! Thank you so much!
All these years have passed and this video is here for me to learn a new skill. Self quarantine has been good for me. I have time to watch all these wonderful tutorials that you have made for me and others. I am also watching you live. Terrific!
Hi Jenny, your tutorial is excellent and I thank you for it. I just adore these beautiful Cathedral Windows and couldn't care less about the amount of fabric one needs to use. It's all about the richness and diversity of colour for me. Thanks again, I love your work.
Jenny Doan, you have become newest and most amazing hero!!!!! I've been wanting to make a CW for several years, but never been successful with the hand stitched version! I'm the person who told you (in Columbia, SC) to use Jello on toast and you have just paid me back in the "Great Ideas" category!!!!!
Thank you Jenny. This is one of my favorite blocks, but I have only made one pillow, using the old way. That was a couple of years ago, now there will be no stopping me! I find it truly amazing how every week you have a new amazing idea, because they are all amazing! Thank you for all you do for the quilter world, we are so fortunate to have you and your team.
Jenny, this is wonderful. I made my first one and it is beautiful - and easy. I don't mind the fabric involved, I don't consider the block a waste of fabric. Love it. Thanks, Jenny.
This is wonderful! I've wanted to make a cathedral window quilt for a while now but all the methods I've found so far are much more complicated and use way more fabric than you do. Pure genius! Thank you so much!!!!!
I've admired the cathedral pattern for a long time, & always thought...just too difficult and time consuming. Jenny, you are a genius! I can do this version! So excited to make!!
I took a class on this block and I did make a pillow but this is much better and a whole lot quicker! Of course Jenny would make it simple! Thank you so much for this!! Thanks 🙏🏻
I've seen this tutorial many times & am amazed as the first time.I am working on a baby quilt using the cathedral pattern. Enjoy Doan's instr. She is precise & meat.Thank you!
I love your easy way of making the Cathedral Window, Jenny. I started watching the video about a half hour ago and had to run into my sewing room and grab some charm packs and watch the video while I pinned. Now I have several pinned. ( I know I like to pin and just can't break the habit after 30 plus years of quilting) Now to the sewing room I go to start sewing. Thanks for the great video! ! ! I also love the little version but will stick to the charm packs.
The easy cathedral windows tutorial is my absolute favorite from Missouri star quilt company! It has yielded me some of my favorite quilting creations this far.
Jenny---Yay,yay,yay!!! I am so excited to see this tutorial. My husbands great aunt had a queen size cathedral that she did (totally by hand of course, she did all of them that way). She used 1 inch squares for the center of the blocks. It is one of the quilts that inspired me to want to quilt. One of the times that I was in the store, probably two years ago I asked one of the clerks if someone could show me how to do the cathedral window. You had the 2.5 inch one on the wall. I love it done in the fun pattern fabric. She took me and my friend back to where you were and you showed us how to do it. It was quick but you explained it so that I totally understood. I have messed with it some, but haven't made a whole quilt yet. It is one of my favorites and I am so very excited to see the tutorial. Thanks so much for taking time that day, I know that you were busy and thanks so much for doing the tutorial.
Gail Vadnais I'm so glad that memory has stuck with you and made an impact! Jenny just loves meeting new MSQC Family members like yourself and taking the time to help everyone! Thanks for sharing! :)
I just finished all the blocks for a queen size bed Cathedral Windows.I'm so happy, thank you Jenny for making tutorial easy to follow that's my 3 rd quilt from watching you I did tumbling blocks for my super king bed .I also tried a quilt with striped material ( can't remember the name ) As long as I have you to follow I feel more confident thank you keep it up so we can all learn more. Jeannette
I love it--I have often admired the cathedral window quilt--but it looked too time consuming. I am looking forward to trying this-- especially the small one. Thank-you- Jenny!
Hi Jenny, you are amazingly clever to make such complicated blocks so easy, fun and enjoyable. I am really grateful that I found your web site coincidently. I made lots of projects using your blocks. Many thanks from Turkey. Sema
Missouri Star Quilt Company gracias, los trabajo son maravillosos aunque no entiendo el idioma pero tú lo haces tan fácil que lo puedo entender viendo como trabajas Gracias X desde Iquique Chile
Oh WOW!!! I love the cathedral window but have always been terrified to try it. You have made it doable Jenny. I love the one with 2-1/2" squares. I think I will try it with bright colors and black instead of white. A stained glass cathedral window? That would make a great gift for my brother who makes and teaches stained glass. AWESOME!!
I did this with satin windows and Christmas fabric. It turned out really pretty. I plan on making Christmas table runners like this as gifts. Wish me luck. Lol
Love it! Just made one little 2.5 inch block, went together so fast and easy! Yes! Am going to try a 10" block next, one with a busy print. Thanks, Missouri Star! I love the thickness, we've cold, cold winters so here all the layers are much appreciated....
Very pretty I made one years ago and it ended up as a pillow because it was so much work will have to try one of these, looks real easy thank you for all the ideas
Thank you! This uses much less fabric than the way I learned to do this; I look forward to trying it! LOVE the 2.5" square version...I have many small scrape to use up; this will be a unique way to use them.
Jenny is a very accomplished sewer and she really knows her machine and its capabilities. I am not sure this quilt sandwich thickness would stitch nicely on my machine without lowering the feed dogs and attaching my walking foot. I think I would use a special needle also for going through all these thicknesses. She doesn't make it clear whether or not she is using free motion quilting to finish the quilt with the quilt-as-you-go method. I also think I would use thread designed for free motion quilting andbegin quilting from the center of the piece and I would use spray on basting glue to hold my quilt sandwich together with the pins. I will try this without doing all of that but I don't think my old machine will stitch the thickness of a quilt with out breaking thread and needle. Good Luck this sure is a brillant way of making cathedral windows!!!!.
The cathedral window has always been on my bucket list- doing it by machine was sooooo much easier! Thank you Jenny for another fine tutorial - I can now mark this one as "FINISHED!"
You guys are just amazing to come with such beautiful easy quilt blocks1 Especially love the one with the smaller size squares! Thank you, again, so very much!
Hi Jenny, Thank you for this tutorial...I'm making this as a baby quilt for my son and daughter-in-law who are adopting this month. Great idea! Love your shows!!
I love the small quilt. This will be easy for Christmas gifts. Thank you for your video's. I would never have started to quilt if it were not for them.
I did a cot quilt the traditional way and it took nearly the whole 9 months to do haha. Wish i had known this method then. Less time no sore fingers and not so much fabric used. Love the quilt i made but it did put me off making another one. Will try this method . Thank you for sharing
I love this cathedral window method! As soon as I watched the tutorial, I started assembling a wall-hanging using mini charms. It's looking great and the method is so easy to follow. Thanks, Jenny & MSQC!
I made a cathedral window wall hanging quilt the traditional way many years ago. I remember it being very complicated. Great way to simplify the pattern👍🇦🇺
I like this method I used to make circles and get almost the same design a little different but it looks like really easy to do can’t wait to try this one
I love how this cathedral window table topper looks so easy to put together! I have so many charm packs, mini charms and even fat quarters that I can cut up to use for this project. I can't wait to make this and put it on my kitchen table! Thanks, Jenny, for another great tutorial!!
Just watch several videos and all are great, but this one is great. I too have a baggie of old Cathedral Window blocks I never finish. This is wonderful thank you for all your work
Years age my mom tried CW but didn't get far. I am excited to show her this technique so she can make one for herself. I am going to make a quilt for a new house. Thank u for this.
I think I have found my new project. Thank you for you inspiration and charming nature. I might add my love of embroidery to the middle diamonds for a little personal touch. Now to apply for some annual leave from work to complete my project. Xxx from Australia.
It came out so beautiful and you make it look so easy with your tutorial. And I love that it’s a quilt as you go. The back looks beautiful that way. Thanks Jenny , you are the champ.
Jenny, I forgot to take a picture before I gave this away..so I'm making another one...will send you pics when I get it finished to get your take on it. Thank you so much for your tutorials. God bless you and yours.
Thank you, I want to make another Cathedral Window quilt. Yes I made one the old fashion way, my mom now has the quilt, she really wanted it. But I love what you did on this one. I am excited about this method. Thank you so much
+Platt Mallar That's because this is the directions for a "faux" Cathedral window. It looks really nice but doesn't compare to the traditional Cathedral window block.
Absolutely amazing how easy you made such a complicated quilt pattern go together so quickly! I would never have believed I could ever make one of these, and yet now I feel sure that I could do to. Thanks so much, Jenny!
This tutorial was wonderful! Now I know what to do with a charm pack that has been sitting on my shelf. I made a cathedral window pillow years ago and that was very labor intensive. Thank you very much for all your videos!! They are THE best!
So cool! Another great inspiration. Right after watching I decided to make this project with jeans scraps and before the end of Saturday I had my own Cathedral Window Jeans rug! Even though my poor Singer almost died while sewing a third of an inch piles of jeans, but all ended up with a success and huge satisfaction! Thanks Jenny! PS: Too bad I cannot post a picture here to brag ;)))
I hand cut and hand sew my cathedral Windows quilt. I use 2 by 2 squares for the middle square and 9 by 9 muslin. Its time consuming but completely handmade.
I watch a lot of sewing tutorials; a lot. None; not a single channel could hold a candle to your channel. For 10 years it’s been you Jenny! Thank you. Stay dedicated. 😊

alene knox you're so sweet! Thanks so much for your love and support! It wouldn't all be possible without our wonderful fans like you! :)
I agree with Alene! I have never made the cathedral window because it is so fiddly and time consuming. I am now anxious to try your method! Thank you!

I spent 14 years constructing my first Cathedral Window quilt. It was beautiful; but this is very practical and pretty, also. I appreciate the instructions!
Thanks for your comment Carol! We appreciate that!
Wow Evelyn! What a wonderful accomplishment!
I made a pillow for my sister using this method and it came out GORGEOUS! Wishing that I could add a pic here.
Why yes, I am rewatching this again. And again. Jenny you are so charming! My husband even knows when to quack 🐥
I absolutely love this technique. I've done Cathedral Windows the "old" way and can't wait to give this a try. I think I'll make a few bed scarfs, using this technique, to give as Christmas presents.
Thank you for ALL your videos!!!
***** What wonderful gifts they will make! Thanks so much for your kind words! :)
Jenny - you saved me! I started in on a very complicated cathedral window pattern but it wasn't turning out. I changed my plan and used your pattern. what an amazing time saver! I used white on white for the background and the windows are really bright colors. Beautiful. Thank you so much!
Glad we could save your quilt, GMTE Girl!
Best explanation I’ve heard for the reason the triangles shape easier! Thanks!
Sewing magic!! That 2 1/2 inch square one is gorgeous!
morvalia Thank you! We're glad you love it!!

This pattern has always been a facination of mine. Thank you for simplifying it without the raw edges of a circle quilt! thank you, thank you!!
Jenny, Have you seen the 10 minute block? Look it up. It's so easy, as is yours!! I LOVE YOURS!!!
I have admired this pattern for so long and wondered how to make it. You've taken the mystery out of it! I think you're really a magician!
Love it! Just made one little 2.5 inch block, went together so fast and easy! Yes!
Am going to try a 10" block next, one with a busy print. Thanks, Missouri Star!
I love the thickness, we've cold, cold winters so here all the layers are much appreciated....
Anna Van Tholen We'd love to see the oversized version too! If you try it out, share it with us, please!! :)
Jenny I just love the fun way you show us! You are a real blwssing, thanks!!!
This is genius, thank yousooooo much. I have charm pkg of 100 batiques, I can’t wait to try this. Love love love this.
Thank you Jenny, I have always wanted to make a cathedral window quilt. You have changed my mind and now I will be making one. Thanks, Denise in Fl
I love the smaller one. It’s so bright and cheerful.
Mrs. Jenny I Love the way you explain every little detail. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful talents with each and everyone one of us.

Thanks Jenny! I did it and it works great! Very pleased.
I did a cot quilt the traditional way and it took nearly the whole 9 months to do haha. Wish i had known this method then. Less time no sore fingers and not so much fabric used. Love the quilt i made but it did put me off making another one. Will try this method . Thank you for sharing
We hope you enjoy making this one Laraine!
So much easier than the one I started 20 years ago.. And never finished lol! I am going to try it this way! Thank you for the tutorial, Jenny!

After my sister brought her MSQ magazine and I saw this that was it! Thank you for inspiring us every day.
Just watch several videos and all are great, but this one is great. I too have a baggie of old Cathedral Window blocks I never finish. This is wonderful thank you for all your work
I have made Cathedral Window quilts by hand. This is amazing how it works.
Thinking of making a Christmas one with my leftover Christmas squares. This will be a great table runner for the holidays.
Deana Campbell so cute!
Wow,love the small 21/2 inches, thank you for the tutorial.
Years age my mom tried CW but didn't get far. I am excited to show her this technique so she can make one for herself. I am going to make a quilt for a new house. Thank u for this.
We hope your mother enjoys making this quilt Veronica!

I love this Cathedral Window! I also have a baggie of the old Cathedral Window blocks.
How neat Susie!
I love this tutorial. It is such a great way to get the cathedral window effect without the time consuming fiddliness.
Thank you, I want to make another Cathedral Window quilt. Yes I made one the old fashion way, my mom now has the quilt, she really wanted it. But I love what you did on this one. I am excited about this method. Thank you so much
I really enjoyed this tutorial, I was so confused by other Cathedral Window directions!
+Platt Mallar That's because this is the directions for a "faux" Cathedral window. It looks really nice but doesn't compare to the traditional Cathedral window block.
U indeed made it so easy for me! I have never dared to attempt it though it is the BOM in our quilting group. But shall attempt it now.
I love the quilt that is hanging up behind you!
Danielle Stone It's the Missouri Star quilt! :)
Absolutely amazing how easy you made such a complicated quilt pattern go together so quickly! I would never have believed I could ever make one of these, and yet now I feel sure that I could do to. Thanks so much, Jenny!
Jenny is the best!!!! Thank you!
Perfect timing. I knew there had to be a better way to do this. I have been experimenting with other options and you have shown the best way. Thanks!
This tutorial was wonderful! Now I know what to do with a charm pack that has been sitting on my shelf. I made a cathedral window pillow years ago and that was very labor intensive. Thank you very much for all your videos!! They are THE best!
Fabulous tutorial, we adore you Jenny.
I like this a lot. I have made 3 king size but using the regular pattern. However I stuffed the window. Much harder but fun to make.
PS: Too bad I cannot post a picture here to brag ;)))
lepus77 That sounds so cute! Way to go! :)
I hand cut and hand sew my cathedral Windows quilt. I use 2 by 2 squares for the middle square and 9 by 9 muslin. Its time consuming but completely handmade.
