Sonic is a main for me. I really did notice the lack of KO ability he has. They really lowered his power level for the game, but maybe they did not want a character with excess speed with high strength.
You can kill a bowser at 91 with a well timed and slightly charged forward smash

Couple of things from a long time Sonic main for anyone thinking about picking him up. Avoid using up air in combos... it's "bugged" in a sense that the second kick does not connect consitently at all... i'd say less than 50% of the time it does. So at medium percents stick with nair or fair. Now at low percents on heavy characters, feel free to spin dash into up air into a back air and into a possibly other back air depending on the height you got, but again, not consistent when it's smaller or medium characters. Up throw to up air wont kill too often unless they've never seen it, it was a go to move in Smash 4 and isnt so much anymore. Biggest things to learn is b reversal (reverse homing attack) into back kick. Eventually you'll be able to easily spindash, b reverse, into back kick. The MOST advance move is Spring Ride. Its kinda cheese but fun as hell. Learn the percents, but essentially you up throw, jump, and up b as soon as their character is on top of yours. Your spring will come out and take both you and your opponent in the high recovery. Just up air and they are dead off the top. Battlefield it will kill on the top platform starting at 15%. Anyway, im sure no one wanted this, but i dont see a lot of Sonic's online so figured maybe they wanted some technical stuff to try.
I've mained Sonic since Brawl. For some reason, he just came naturally to me and I've played every Smash Bros game. I am glad I watched this and learned some additional techniques that I need to practice and try to master using so I can win more often online.

Colorondo8 not rlly, when I play sonic, I never use ANY smash attack, prob if I do, it’s a accidental smash attack.
I use the b button to do multiple different spin dash Exploits, to confuse my opponent and have them constantly thinking. I don’t only use spin dash like most sonic players
TonyBro505 If you’re not using smash attacks you’re at a severe disadvantage lmao. With Sonic you really need to use his whole kit. His side smash is amazing and his down smash is pretty good at catching rolls from the ledge. Up smash kinda shit tho.

Although the redesign is better than the first, Its still kinda bad imo
Sonic may be physically weak but the majority of his moves can combo making him a more technical fighter. The trick is learning to control his speed. If you flail about your going to leave yourself open. His dash moves are really good hit checks because they let you move fast, control and do damage. They also combo into most of his air moves. Sonic wants to start a combo then knock the opponent into the air and juggle them until they are low enough to take down with a smash or back air.
Sonic isn’t “Physically weak”. He’s a lightweight yeah, but his damage output is comparable to middleweights like Mario for example.

Good Sonic combos or KOs
1. 3:48
2.Spin dash, then when you hit them jump then A (good at 50 or above)
3. When they are nearly off screen above the stage do a homing attack (good at 70 or above)
And that's all I have for now,

Just an idea for your character breakdowns. After initially showing say, the jab combo, put the speed of training mode to the slowest possible to show exactly what the character does during the move

Nice guide! I am going to clarify something about Spin Dash & Spin Charge:
Spin Charge is faster than Spin Dash, both to release and to complete the charge. With Spin Dash, you have to wait a set time before it is fully charged, while Spin Charge can be charged based on ‘x’ amount of special presses you make in ‘y’ time.
Spin Charge is technically better for combos, bursting, and overall damage output, whereas Spin Dash allows mix up potential despite being slower. Spin Dash also has a very short i-frame window on release, which can eat up some projectiles, landings, and approaches.
Keep up the good work though, thanks for making these guides!

Little help tip: You can combo Sonic's down throw into Spin Charge and then homing attack. Basically:
Grab -> Down Throw -> Spin Charge -> Homing Attack
It's very good for stacking damage on opponents, getting them off stage, and the Homing Attack can be replaced with an aerial attack. Hope y'all put this to good use

I feel like his kit may have been partially tuned back in Brawl to make him the “game clear bonus” for Subspace, as a character who can easily rush thru old stages to help you get 100%, since high launch power isn’t actually very important in that mode.
That aside, he’s always been one of my favorite characters both in general terms and in how he plays in smash. Yeah he doesn’t kill fast, but I like having a character who is practically immune to “falling off stage” kills unless your opponent REALLY commits to it

For the 3ds version of this game, I like to Down Special, A, then up ariel attack, Spring jump, then up ariel again. Perfect killing tactic for you mains out there

A lot of people hate Sonic’s moveset in smash, and while I do agree that it’s kinda boring, my main issue is his lack of expression. Brawl Sonic didn’t have this problem, as his expressions actually changed, but since Sm4sh, he feels kinda…soulless, and if you don’t know what I’m talking about, look at Brawl Sonic’s idle animation, then look at his Sm4sh or Ultimate idle animation, and the difference is clear as day

If anyone wants an in-depth guide on Sonic, i'd recommend SuperGirlKels' video. It's basically the combined thoughts of a bunch of pro Sonic players on how to use him
can we mention how... odd sonic's Up air is? (As a Sonic Main, I watch it a lot and I can't stop thinking about it) He just kinda... grabs you with his legs and it's funky
The first hit doesn't have enough kickback for the next hit to connect.And it is basically how when you get hit by an attack from both sides with equal force so you go up.

A combo I like to do with Sonic is back throw dash to where they're going to land and quickly hit up Smash...I'm just here because of the slight difference between him on the Wii U and this....like you can't throw people off anymore by hitting the Sheild button during the spin dash and his spin charge. So I have to learn to not do that. So I needed to learn some combo's and refresh how he works in this version

Mohammad Ayyan Sonic is annoying as shit tho, even if he’s hard to punish. It’s the fact that his neutral b covers half the stage, his spindash is really fuckin safe and literally everything else about him. He might not be that good, but boy is Sonic a little shit sometimes.

You forgot that if you bounce on Sonics spring you and then jump you can do his specials, And if you jump on his spring you can do your normal jump then use spring again
Long story short, spin dash or spin charge is the best option for every situation
I'd love to see some Little Mac/Mewtwo here, even tho the first one might sound crazy (I know I asked for him already, it's just funny to think about what you would say positive about him, and this is a Little Mac main talking, he's very hard to find some positivity in with such a kit)

Did you know Brawl was delayed for months because of Sonic? Why is 75% of Sonic's moveset a ball form? That is just really weird that they chose to do that. I like how you can do awesome stuff with his moveset, but I think at least fitting in some SA1 and 2 moves along with Modern Sonic moves would be nice. Still Sonic plays GREAT!
DTilt has almost no knockback and is stupid fast so at 0 percent youc an run up to them do a down tilt and bam you got yourself a combo, not to mention it combos into fsmash I think
Also you can use ground to cancel fair for it to combo start at any percent but it's very hard

I need to know... I am a sonic player... an I have noted that sometimes I can cancel the down air into jump and spring to grab the ledge after the spike attempt... and some time I cant, he just go down air and nothing can cancel it resulting in SD... why this happen?... is this a glitch or Im just dumb and dont know when I can cancel it or when I can not?
