    Thanks for making a gluten-free recipe! I have to eat gluten-free, so this is helpful. You also answered my question before I asked it! I wondered what it would be like with tofu, and you mentioned it. That's great. When I watched Satoshi cooking the onions, I was imagining how they would add so much natural sweetness to the curry, and I bet it was so good. For the next dish, I vote for oyakodon! It is a favorite of mine. Thanks for the video - it was really great!

      We actually like this gluten free version better than any other types of curry. It's not as heavy as the regular version and we think it actually tastes better.

      THis is amazingly delicious! Outside on the balcony, we have a hibiscus plant, jasmine and at the moment, an okra plant. The rest is random plants.
      We sometimes grow tomatoes and other stuff just to change things up a bit. In our back balcony, we have a couple of olive trees.

    I am gluten free and I edited the "from scratch" video, using gluten free Bisquick instead of regular flour and made a roux just like you did. I also used Tamari instead of soy sauce. I feel like it turned out much thicker, significantly more hearty and much closer to the curry rice I had in Japan. This was good, but I'd use the other video.

    Looks delicious 😍 we eat Curry several times a month in my house. I actually made curry a few days ago lol. It's just so comforting and we never get tired of it😋. I don't always make it from scratch though since it is so time consuming 😅. So far I've used beef, chicken, and shrimp but eventually I want to try using lamb and pork😃. I know how to make curry Japanese style and Chinese style. I learned the Chinese style from my Mom. In the Philippines, she used to work as a cook for a wealthy Chinese family. I learned the Japanese style from various You Tube videos and other sources on the interwebz😁👍

    Hi Guys, Love your channel. I just wanted to give you a heads up that the MSG in the bullion as well as it being processed in or on machines that process wheat can be very problematic for Gluten Free people. I would suggest that they try Herb Ox chicken bullion or a brand called Better than Bullion chicken base that is gluten free. I love this recipe and I am soooo glad you did this because I have been wanting to share this with my family for a long time and because of you, now I can! I hope you don't mind the advice. Love you guys!

    • @LeeTrifone
      @LeeTrifone 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most American dry bullion contains wheat and should be avoided if you need to be gluten free. Better than Bullion is the best alternative I've found that is gluten free! They even make a veggie version if you are vegetarian or vegan and want to make this dish without animal products.

    Going gluten-free two months ago saved my life, and I'm now in a process of learning how to adapt my old favorites to gluten-free recipes. Curry rice is a dish that makes me so happy, thank you for sharing a recipe I can make without roux blocks!
    My vote is for katsudon next, could you suggest a gluten-free panko? Also, I'd love to try Satoshi's grandmother's onion omelette, it sounds tasty!

    this is the way my mom taught me how to make karê, only with the powder, it's really time consuming but it has that homemade flavor, after many years I discovered the curry tablets that made things really fast. too bad keto won't allow potatoes or carrots lol

    • @TabiEats
      @TabiEats  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      One way to eat this gluten free curry, is to omit the potatoes and carrots and instead, add some mushrooms and daikon. Then eat it over a plate of shredded cabbage. I used to eat it this way when I was trying to lose weight.

    I love the use of the onions to replace the roux. (A cornstarch slurry or potato flakes (instant mashed potatoes) are also good gluten-free options for thickening if you want the curry to have more body and be more gravy-like.) :)
