I literally got goosebumps when TB said "Full Throttle." Ahh..childhood memories of sitting next to my dad as he played that game and got hopelessly stuck..and there I was...strategy guide in hand~
I have given $50 to the Wasteland 2 project about 3 days ago, great to see TB giving some air time to this project. Can't wait to see what he does with this great title.
I'm extremely surprised that you didn't express any concerns about this model, or the most recent history of Fargo and inXile TB. I'd have expected that from you of all people. Fargo hasn't made anything worth while for over a decade, and he completely dropped the ball on the Bard's Tale reboot, a game that had an equally strong following from the 80s. He also had an in-development game cancelled by the publisher just two years ago. Kickstarter = no refunds. It's extremely risky.
@TotalHalibut: I love that you help raise awareness of great Kickstarter projects Mr. TB. Wasteland 2 already reached its goal and is still running 33 days. What a success! On a side note, I remember you making a fuzz about the "New Release" tab on Steam and how its used to spam it with DLC. If think it will delight you to hear that with a recent update to Steam, Valve has introduced a way to blend out all DLC from the front page of Steam, enabled by default. They listen if concerns are raised!
Yes those of us who were playing games in the 90s and early 00s know Interplay games well. My favorite is Sacrifice as well. Freaky monsters fighting each other was pretty cool.
I donated to Double Fine and I'm donating to Wasteland 2 and the Tactical Shooter as well. Kickstarter projects are one of the most promising gaming project premises I've heard of in a long time.
I've never played any of those games. I was born in 87, most of my stuff came from Japan and was strictly on console. Heck, until recently I've never heard of these "classic" games and my head isn't exactly in a hole. I keep getting told they were amazing. You know what? There were a lot of "classic" games I played as a kid that no one ever talks about. Brian Fargo was your legend, your hero. He was not mine. He'd have to prove himself to me in the modern now before I can believe y'all.
"Why can´t we have ...", actually we have. There are a few good point and click adventures every year, "Whispered World", "Machinarium", "The Unwritten Tales" comes instantly to my mind.
There is a dual answer to the "why can't we have"-questions. 1."because they don't sell", the demand is not big enough for most major developers to do it. 2.Certain games, in fact, certain products (artistic or otherwise), can not be reproduced. In the way they are made and experienced they are particular to a certain time and location. You can have remakes, but every modification would be in the spirit of the time of the remake, not in the spirit of the time when the product was made.
Thank you TB for bringing information like this to me. I went straight over and pledged my $65.00. Interplay was a fantastic company that must have accounted for years of my gaming life through the late 80's and early 90's. Here's to looking forward to the good times once more.
daaaaaamn... I literally just came back from reading an old pc games magazine on the loo where they had an article about how wasteland was such a cool game for its time and see this.
Just wanted to point out, that there is in fact a 4X game coming in April or May which is inspired by Masters of Orion. It is called 'Legends of Pegasus' and is published by Kalypso.
And you know what? At the very least we all skipped through the last nine or so blank minutes in order to find out whether or not there was any more epic TotalBiscuit commentary.
Thanks for making me aware of the Wasteland 2 project. I love and play Fallout and Baldur's Gate and sequels to this date but never have I actually tried Wasteland out. Gonna have to check GoG!
Cant say I ever played wastelander, at least not as far as I can recall but I do remember playing the heck out of Descent, Descent 2, and Descent 3. I also spent hours making massive levels with its level designing software. Just on that basis alone, Ill be sure to give him some money as a thank you. Hopefully we will see a Descent sequel or reimagining from him in the future
@PyjamaDay I think his point was if you like and loved even one of them It was worth it to keep it going. I don't think he expected everyone to recognize all of them. I have been playing since i was four(mid 80's) as well and only recognized a few of them...Never played any of them but i know lots of people who liked them.
I've already contributed to Wasteland 2 (met its goal!) and the tactical shooter (still needs help), but I would be all over a kickstarter for a space sim. I grew up on X-wing vs. Tie Fighter and have been wondering where games like that went for a decade.
My gaming childhood consisted of NES, Gameboy and then the Playstation arrived. Yep, all Japanese products. And I loved all my games, I simply played out all the content of it. Only like 1998 I started playing PC games, even though I've always had a computer in the house I lived in.
Paradox studios, the guys behind Magicka and Mount and Blade, are making a Syndicate inspired game called Cartel. The don't own the IP so it's their own story but from the little news there's been it sounds promising. I'm surprised TB didn't mention it here.
For those who are into Point and Click adventure games, I highly recommend Gemini Rue, I've had it since day 1 ( WELL before it was on Steam) and you'd be missing out
The funny thing about Syndicate is that you could just take the original and remake it with no real innovations, just updated tweaked tech, graphics, sound etc. and it'd still be a damn fun game. It's like the wheel, you don't need to reinvent it in a completely different shape, it works perfectly as is and you're more likely to ruin it totally by changing things for the sake of change.
@StopFear I agree, aslong as you ignore the glitches and bugs, random DCs in multiplayer and the whole "lets make another FPS instead of actually making a sequal" thing.
@Night4345 it's funny when I got the game, I didn't have a clue Jesse had done anything for the game until it was mentioned somewhere and now every time I hear his voice in the game I can't stop thinking that' it's him.
Since you were talking about Baldurs Gate (I love that game to death), the site for it came back online not too long ago and there is a countdown there. God, how I wish for a third part of that series! I will probably be disappointed, but still, hope dies last!
For any that are interested there is an ca hour long interview with Brian Fargo about interplay and gaming in general on Blacklily8 channel, interplay even made Bards Tale back in the day.
Be nice if the developers of Freedom Force used Kickstarter for a sequel and story wrapup of the series. I know I'd support it if they kept the same gameplay.
After the Double Fine Adventure, Telltale and Double Fine should collaborate on making a 3rd Maniac Mansion. Think about it; Ron Gilbert, Tim Scahe,r and Dave Grossman working on an adventure game together again.
tnx for letting us know TB...i also hope this "ressurects" some of the classics(games and genres)...i mean for example i only played the freespace games 2 years ago...and none of the praise i heard before that did them justice ....those 2 games were far beyond anything i have ever played ... and then i remembered they were made 11 12 years ago, and my mind was blown sky high...how could the gaming industry devolve so much?...oh yeah...EA and Activision....
@epictuna4 There is just as much if not more risk of inXile running out of funds in development and having to rush out something of poor quality, or even cancelling the game outright as there is when working with a publisher. Publisher relationships are more secure, because at least with those you can negotiate more funding / time. Fargo cannot easily ask for more money from Kickstarter pledgers without doing a whole new campaign.
The original Fallout came out in 1997. The original Elder Scrolls game came out in 1994. Those two games had nothing in common and were developed by different companies.
"Foregoing conventional options like another episodic entry or direct sequel, valve announced it will be releasing half-life 3d. initial fan enthusiasm on the internet quickly gave way to despair when valve's gabe newell confirmed the game is just a 3d version of the original half life and its unpopular expansion, half-life: blue shift." -as seen in game informer
Crowd sourcing on Kickstarter also allows us to vote with our wallets on the genres we want that are under represented. I vote with my wallet already and don't purchase most of the big titles. But now I get to vote by helping to make those genres that I DO enjoy, that DONT exist. Its a good thing.
Im tempted to support wasteland 2 (even tho its not my kind of game) just because i love the spirit of crowd-funding - ofc ive already donated towards Double Fine Adventure :)
@NewAnarchy88 Though Deathclaws became a source of XP farming once you got the ridiculously powerful Plasma Caster. Just aim for the eyes and down they go for a cool 1000 exp.
I consider that the margins on these games may be on pressure for the publishers to release any of the games. So there for making cheap games may be a bigger risk, then going for a bigger game, with marketing behind it.
When first saw the ep of Chuck VS Tom Sawyer I had a dream which was of VG music being as awesome as it was back in the 80s but with the capabilities of today's consoles. My dream had been partially fulfilled with Star Soldier for PS2 and Star Soldier R. But I was expecting the Landstaker remake for PSP and it was scrapped then I expected Chrono Trigger Rsurection and it was shut down by Nint$ndo. But then Megaman 9 came out and then Contra and I realized life trully is like a box of chocolates.
I literally got goosebumps when TB said "Full Throttle."

You have a game where I can play a monocle-wearing dinosaur.
Of course I want free stuff
@TotalHalibut: I love that you help raise awareness of great Kickstarter projects Mr. TB. Wasteland 2 already reached its goal and is still running 33 days. What a success! Thanks so much for showing me the Hardcore Tactical Shooter. Bloody love that type of game! Funded!
Yes those of us who were playing games in the 90s and early 00s know Interplay games well. My favorite is Sacrifice as well. Freaky monsters fighting each other was pretty cool.

I'm backing both projects. I love old-school RPGs and tactical shooters.
"Why can´t we have ...", actually we have. There are a few good point and click adventures every year, "Whispered World", "Machinarium", "The Unwritten Tales" comes instantly to my mind.
Thank you for taking your time to speak about Wasteland 2, this way even more old-school PC gamers will be informed of this valuable project.
Pledged yesterday. I grew up with Wasteland, it is an awesome game.
There is a dual answer to the "why can't we have"-questions. 1."because they don't sell", the demand is not big enough for most major developers to do it. 2.Certain games, in fact, certain products (artistic or otherwise), can not be reproduced. "We get a first person shooter with Skrillex music" - Love the condescending tone!
Thank you TB for bringing information like this to me. I went straight over and pledged my $65.00. Interplay was a fantastic company that must have accounted for years of my gaming life through the late 80's and early 90's. Here's to looking forward to the good times once more.
SO glad to see Brian Fargo and inXile considering this! If I could give more than 1 thumbs up I'd click all night!
Guys come on, the tactical shooter game still needs loads of love!
Donated to Wasteland 2. How could I not? Wasteland is easily one of the top 5 games of my teen years.
daaaaaamn... I literally just came back from reading an old pc games magazine on the loo where they had an article about how wasteland was such a cool game for its time and see this.

Have to love a Brian Fargo game where one of the first bosses you meet in the wasteland is named Faran Brigo.
You are awesome for letting more people know about this.
All Kickstarter needs to explode in popularity is some good PR, hopefully somebody can create a kickstarter project for that.
Michael A. Stackpole ... I absolutly love his Battle Tech Storys
Crowdsourced Hardcore Tactical Shooter please come to life =)
Thanks for making me aware of the Wasteland 2 project. I love and play Fallout and Baldur's Gate and sequels to this date but never have I actually tried Wasteland out. Gonna have to check GoG!
Holy shit, Wasteland 2 is almost there now
I used to play Day of the Tentacle with my dad when I was a kid. So fun!
I remember Descent 2. It was the first gaem I ever played. I only had the demo, but I got really good at it.
A good x-wing vs. tie fighter style game coming out nowadays would make me ABSURDLY happy.
I'm already counting the days until my autographed Wasteland 2 collector's edition comes in! :D
Descent was one of the first PC games I played, I miss those kinds of games. With this generations graphics it could be amazing.
One of the best reasons that TB likes this is because he then can use his acorn arcamedes machines again.
i like how the last 10 minutes is a black screen, its the best part
fallout 1+2 are my favorite all time games. i would love to see some more work from someone who created those masterpieces.
"Bawoldur's Gate," god I love TotalBiscuit's accent. It's so hilariously British.
I cant wait for wasteland 2 to comeback out, finally good old style rpg.
Wasteland 2 has been up for about 36 hours and is at 769,206 of 900,000. Almost there!
@PyjamaDay I think his point was if you like and loved even one of them It was worth it to keep it going. I don't think he expected everyone to recognize all of them. Unbelievable. As of writing, this video alone raised an additional $500,000 for Wasteland 2.
My gaming childhood consisted of NES, Gameboy and then the Playstation arrived. Yep, all Japanese products. And I loved all my games, I simply played out all the content of it.
Only like 1998 I started playing PC games, even though I've always had a computer in the house I lived in.
What the? Did I derp out or did this video get cut without a re-upload? I think TB may actually be the archmage of the entire freaking universe.
Paradox studios, the guys behind Magicka and Mount and Blade, are making a Syndicate inspired game called Cartel. The don't own the IP so it's their own story but from the little news there's been it sounds promising.
I'm surprised TB didn't mention it here.
Can't believe I already donated to Wasteland 2 BEFORE TB made a video about it :)
For those who are into Point and Click adventure games, I highly recommend Gemini Rue, I've had it since day 1 ( WELL before it was on Steam) and you'd be missing out
@WoofDaLock It was from a livestream. It was in his series of WTF videos, which revolve around first impressions. So yeah, those 5 are all you get.
That's a very large cutt-off prevention you got there TB.
@blanco420 A lot. They have the money, they set the deadlines and they call the shots on what gets cut if they so desire.
I would throw money at a FreeSpace 3 kickstart. Seriously, I would love to see that story finished.
@StopFear I agree, aslong as you ignore the glitches and bugs, random DCs in multiplayer and the whole "lets make another FPS instead of actually making a sequal" thing.
@Night4345 it's funny when I got the game, I didn't have a clue Jesse had done anything for the game until it was mentioned somewhere and now every time I hear his voice in the game I can't stop thinking that' it's him.

holy crap you just got me thinking of the epicness that would be a kickstarted sacrifice 2... =D
I'd donate my kidney for another game set in the Planescape setting with Chris at the helm.
Thanks for the short comment on Velociraptor! Cannibalism! :)
Be nice if the developers of Freedom Force used Kickstarter for a sequel and story wrapup of the series. I know I'd support it if they kept the same gameplay.
I have a small scale project at the moment, I might kick it up a bit now that I heard about this website.
After the Double Fine Adventure, Telltale and Double Fine should collaborate on making a 3rd Maniac Mansion. Think about it; Ron Gilbert, Tim Scahe,r and Dave Grossman working on an adventure game together again.
Rainbow Six, Rogue Spear... most frustrating yet rewarding game on the hardcore tactical shooter category!
tnx for letting us know TB...i also hope this "ressurects" some of the classics(games and genres)...i mean for example i only played the freespace games 2 years ago...and none of the praise i heard before that did them justice ....those 2 games were far beyond anything i have ever played ... and then i remembered they were made 11 12 years ago, and my mind was blown sky high...how could the gaming industry devolve so much?...oh yeah...EA and Activision....
@Maggsy97 One of the Titus brothers became CEO after Brian Fargo left. But Brian Fargo founded Interplay
Wasteland is my fave game of all time. TY TB for covering it here. Wasteland 2 is going to be amazing. I have $1,000 riding on its success. :D
@epictuna4 There is just as much if not more risk of inXile running out of funds in development and having to rush out something of poor quality, or even cancelling the game outright as there is when working with a publisher. I would happily throw my wages at anyone planning to bring back the Road Rash series.
The original Fallout came out in 1997. The original Elder Scrolls game came out in 1994. Those two games had nothing in common and were developed by different companies.
Awesome!
I love most of your videos :D
I found my flightstick in the closet the other day. Was sad, all covered in dust. I have not used it in a couple years.

REQUEST: If you aren't interested in paying for Wasteland 2... please, for the love of gawd, step aside and let the rest of us enjoy this moment.
there are lot of 4x game in the work right now , Endles Space, Legend of Pegasus, Star Drive,Beyond Beyaan all of them indies
Id love to see Arcanum 2 project kickstarted
Don't forget all the awesome tycoon games that stoped being produced :'(
@NewAnarchy88 Though Deathclaws became a source of XP farming once you got the ridiculously powerful Plasma Caster.
Just aim for the eyes and down they go for a cool 1000 exp.

Sacrifice
Descent was a wonderful game.
its ok guys the other ten minutes of the vid is totalbiscuit's review on the new mw3 expansion pack
Jeebus. Wasteland 2 is about 16k from goal with 33 days to go. I think it will make it :D
@Vainzki Oh god Heavy Gear es! MW is comming back this summer, but people need to be reminded of what great game HG was
Why did I load this in 720p? XD
Interplay? is that the guys that also made Clayfighter? i loved that game
Just woke up to TB vid, good morning.
@Dakeyras83 Twenty hours of gameplay and nearly unlimited replay value is not to bad for a game developed for two people, I'm happy with my purchase.
@FMMProductions also jesse cox did the voice acting for the game :)
They're at 700k now. I've "donated" $100 to them. I wish I could afford to give them more.
Pledged 100, they seem to be doing quite well actually.
im 16 and am really excited. homm3 is my favorite but fallouts are really close. These game ideas look great
When first saw the ep of Chuck VS Tom Sawyer I had a dream which was of VG music being as awesome as it was back in the 80s but with the capabilities of today's consoles.

Wing commander :'( R.I.P. old friend
i suddenly feel horrible for not recognizing half of those titles TB mentioned :(
@Raphi273 No, Bioware are making Baldur's Gate 3, so don't expect anything special there.
