Craig Kimbrel has been one of the best closers in baseball since his arrival with the Braves. He's put up ridiculous numbers that had a lot of people comparing him to the likes of Yankees legend Mariano Rivera as potentially the best closer EVER. Since his early dominance in Atlanta, these talks have quieted down but it raises another question of whether Kimbrel should be joining Rivera in Cooperstown.
Let me know in the comments if you think Kimbrel should be a Hall of Famer. If you enjoyed this video please consider liking and subscribing as it would help the channel out a lot!

To me the stat that matters for relief pitchers is win probability added. The role of an elite relief pitcher is to pitch in high leverage situations and convert probable/likely wins into definite wins or to prevent damage when the other team is starting a rally. A closer who give up a solo home run when up one and shuts down the other team when up 3 is infinitely worse than one who gives up the solo shot with a 3 run lead and shuts them down when up one. Convert the win--that is what matters.
Good take, and well said.
K-Rod, Joe Nathan, Aroldis Chapman. We're gonna see a spike in relievers in the HOF over the next 10-15 years. I have no doubt
No is not
His pre-pitch pose is unique, for sure.
Kimbrel, Wagner, and K-Rod in their primes felt just as lights out at times as Mariano. I think they all make it in
Yes and he deserves to make it in too. Same with Kenley Jansen. Aroldis Chapman might have an argument, but it's looking like probably not. No other relievers actively have a chance unless they're really young. Kimbrel and Jansen are the two best closers of this generation and Chapman a strong third, but probably not strong enough to stand with the Kimbrel and Jansen. I'd say Kimbrel and Jansen aren't as good as Mo and Hoffman, but better than Fingers, Gossage, and Sutter.
He has Hall of Fame credentials. Some voters seem to have a bias against closers. It's taking a while for Billy Wagner. Maybe he'll make it this time. That would help Kimbrel and Jansen's chances.
If the all star selection is made by coaches and managers, then 9 all star selections. Should solidify Craig's HOF case. One of the most decorated closers in history.
The whole, 2 times through the lineup shit drove me NUTS during the post season. Lovullo is a good manager being handcuffed by mandates coming from higher uo
That MFer has blown crucial ass saves 😂😂😂
He’s my favorite player ever the closer/reliever has been very disrespected for the Hof and we need to start letting more great closers in
He definetly should if he can stay healthy and pitch deep into his career
hes already deep into his career
watching boston win the world series in los angeles fucking sucked
Hey man! How do i reach out asap?
A few more good seasons and sure he’ll make it
Fuck No!!
That’s a laugher 😂
Why
@@sir.muffiniii7011
He has had a good career but not HOF caliber. I don’t believe he dominated his era.
But HOF credentials have weakened so much over the years he’ll probably get in
@@joshuasorrt8241 he 100% dominated the 2010s lol, he was in conversation with Mariano Rivera for the best closer ever, and he has like a 170 careers era+, he got MVP votes as a reliever 3 times and even getting voted 8th once, not to mention having the 2nd most all stars out of any reliever ever, play he led the league in saves in 4 straight years, and he has better stats than the vast majority of HOF relievers, has a World Series, and has every single possible reliever accolade and over 20 WAR, what else does he have to do
Kimbrel is a tough call for me. He can still go, but the longer he pitches, he looks like a really good reliever, not necessarily a really great one.
That’s usually what happens when u get older
He is definitely HOF worthy
Not before Wagner, but yes
If Wagner doesn’t get in then no
If Wagner can’t get in. Kimbrel has got no chance.
You are wrong, if Kimbrel don't land in the HOF then no relievers will go to the HOF. He has better stats than Wagner in every aspect.
@@smashremixmedia4627 Wagner has a higher War 27.7 to 23.9. He has a lower ERA and a better K/BB ratio. His advanced metrics are all better like FiP bc he spent the majority of his career playing in hitter friendly parks. Plus he was left handed…At the end of the day, they are pretty similar stat lines which I said if Wagner doesn’t get in Kimbrel won’t either. However, Kimbrel has pitched very well to start the season and I made that statement over a month ago so if makes the all star team and gets to 500 saves then yeah he should get in. He looked washed the last couple of years but he’s playing well now.
Nope
He shouldn’t be in before Bonds
Great video but dude literally nobody says ERA numbers like 1 dot 09 😂❤.
I guess that makes me a trailblazer 😎
Or ai vo
I mean billy wagner didn't get in so that should mean something and he's what top 5 in saves all time. Hof literally means nothing anymore. Scott rolen made it for God sakes. He was never even the best player on his team lol
Albert pujols was on that team so idiotic take.
