I do believe you are correct sir/miss. =) I love how Kurt was always imitating the sounds, "techniques" and aestetics of novice guitar players, while having the timing and musical ear of a more experienced musician.
It was actually him picking the strings between the bridge and tremolo on his jaguar. It's probably one of the most fun sounds to make on any Fender guitar.
You apparently do not need to streak 1000 notes per minute to create good music, you need to feel the "triggers" in people mind to blow it, like Cobain did
Hey everyone, guess what? It's a Univox guitar. That's right, Kurt showed up to the session without his equipment and Earnie bailey had a reworked Univox in his car. It's also Bailey's pedal board so it's not Kurt's usual setup.

1:37 This part reminds me a little bit of Animal Crossing New Horizons. The song that plays when you’re at the beginning screen kinda sounds like this.
Its cool cause this was obviously a nod to his first ever release, Sound Of Dentage in 1986, He even used a univox for this, same model he used for that song / tape, the riff is basically the same, and it coincidentally his last recorded song with the band, weird.
The part at 0:41 is so eerie and mysterious and it goes along with the video too with Cobain looking ecstatically at the camera like he has transcended. Can anyone tell me the chords
In fact he did use a Mosrite that Earnie Bailey gave him, because he showed up without a single piece of equipment at the Robert Lang Studio in Seattle.

@MrsKoffer he's picking the strings behind the bridge(you need a guitar with a tailed bridge to do that, and the only guitars he played that had a talied bridge were the Fender Mustang, Fender Jaguar, and Univox Hi-Flier)
After having played for 15 years or so, I still don't know what's a "good" guitar. :P (I think Kurt's at least partially to blame and I will always love him for it. ;)
@AxeMurdererx Yeah, but this part was played on a cheap acoustic guitar, with steel strings. The tunning is Eb, and if you want to play that sound, as you said, you have to pick between the nut and the tunning pegs. So, the following strings that you have to play are: E, A, e, E, A, e, E, A, e. So with your left hand you pick the E string, on the first fret. Like a fret tapping. You hope it was useful.
don't bother man, i made the same comment a year ago, but that comment is still getting thumbs up. probably most of those who give them never even held a guitar in their hands, or else they would know that you can't hammer on playing like that (and there's a clear hammer on between the very first two notes of that intro riff, and also you can't produce any notes (except the one that come from the tension of the cords, you can't control what notes come out if you play like that)
if you talk about the intro, then no, that's wrong (and it amazes me how many thumbs up this nonsense got). and it's obvious you're wrong cause you can clearly hear a hammer-on in there, how do you play that between the nut and tuning pegs?. it's played by picking the strings between the bridge and the tailpiece (given of course you have a guitar with a tailpiece bridge). you play the E A D strings (one step downed) by hammering on the first string 2nd fret, then going up to the other 2 strings.
