Replay is their debut song so from May 2008 (not 2011, which is just the year the video was reupload) Taemin was just 14, Key and Minho 16, Jinki and Jonghyun 18. (Ok just saw you actually check their ages....)

From more recent SHINee stuff I really love Good Evening and Atlantis. Also Our Page, which is a tribute to Jonghyun is such a beautiful and meaningful song…

Yes, Our Page's lyrics were written by the members. The MV doesn't have subtitles, so it's better to read them before or watch a video with lyrics.

I know you prefer more recent recommendations, but since you recognized Ring Ding Dong here, there is a high chance you might recognize their other older hits. Shinee was a staple 2nd gen group. If your sister was a 2nd gen stan, I’m pretty sure her playlist is very diverse and have more than one Shinee track even as a casual fan (cuz can’t afford to be picky then lol).
Lucifer (2010) and Sherlock (2013) are older but might be fun to check out. These two are some of the top 2nd gen hits.
View (2015), Married to the Music (2015), 1 of 1 (2016) and Tell me What to do (2016) are the more “recent” ot5 content.
Then we have the Story of Light series (2018) which came out after the passing of Jonghyun. I recommend getting to know them a bit more before starting this one. They released 4 MVs for this. (Good evening, I want you, Our Page, Countless)
Finally we have their latest album Don’t Call me (2021) with repackaged Atlantis (2021), their most recent MV.
    Really love your reaction

With "Don't Call Me," SHINee are just doing what we have all come to expect from them -- showing us something that has never been seen or heard before and starting a new trend. Nothing you hear from them will ever be like anything you have ever seen or heard before. They raise the bar even higher with every comeback. And that's what makes them SHINee. :D With every new song release, SHINee are expected to come out with a style and sound that is brand new, not only for them, but in the industry as a whole. And "Don't Call Me" is a perfect example of that.
This comeback in 2021 was particularly epic because it was the first comeback after almost 3 years because Onew, Key and Minho were all serving in the military. Don't miss SHINee's next comeback in the first part of next year when Taemin is discharged from the military and they will officially be back together again.
What you just experienced is exactly what makes SHINee legends. And this is the reason why they are so highly respected, and why almost everyone in the industry who came after them cites them as one of their biggest influences and one of the reasons why they wanted to become a singer and dancer, etc.
SHINee are one of the most iconic and influential groups. They are always setting trends, never following them. SHINee where designed to be SM Entertainment's experimental boy group, so everything they do is meant to be the first and they are expected to set the trend. With every new song SHINee produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from them in any of their songs, even on the same album, and yet, somehow it will always sound like SHINee.
When SHINee does something the industry takes note and follows suit. SHINee has started the trend with almost everything -- with every one of their songs to their dances to clothing trends, to live performances, to the way Kpop is promoted -- there is almost nothing that can't be attributed to something SHINee has been involved in.
You just discovered why SHINee still hold one of the top spots after almost 14 years in the industry. If you are impressed now, just wait until you go through their entire discography of songs and MVs. So far, they have 13 full-length albums (7 Korean albums and 6 Japanese albums), several repackaged albums, a multitude of mini albums, numerous OSTS, they each have solo songs and albums and there are hundreds of live performances that will absolutely leave you speechless with their talent. And it only gets more and more impressive as you follow them through their career. They have accomplished a lot in the past 14+ years and they are one of the groups that made Kpop what it is today. However, if you want to see where SHINee truly shines, you have to see their live performances.
SHINee are part of the second generation of Kpop and, yet, they are younger than most everyone in their generation and are the same age or even younger than many members of groups who came after them, such as EXO and BTS, etc. which are part of Kpop's third generation. SHINee debuted young and have the experience of seasoned veterans.
When SHINee debuted in 2008, Onew (the leader and lead vocalist) was 18, Jonghyun (the main vocalist and songwriter) had just turned 18, Minho (the main rapper and sub-vocalist) and Key (lead vocalist and sub-rapper) were 16 and Taemin (Main dancer and lead vocalist) was 14, so now they are all in their late 20s and early 30s. (Onew turned 32 in December.) SHINee are some of the most well respected artists in the industry.
Onew (Pronounced Oh-New in English or On-New with Korean accent, real name Lee JinKi) -- the one with the hoodie -- is the leader of the group and he has one of the most unique and best voices in the industry. (Onew means, or sounds like, the Korean words for soft or gentle, so he was given his stage name because he has a very calm and gentle personality.) His vocals are unmatched. He even holds the record (40+ seconds) for the longest continuous note without changing tone or pitch, etc.
Key -- the one with the feather headpiece -- is our fashionista of the group who is SHINee's stylist for a lot of their MVs and stage outfits. SHINee are known for setting trends and never being afraid to experiment, so Key is recognized for really paying attention to detail when it comes to fashion. He has a reputation for always being unique and wanting to stand out. He is an amazing singer and is a sub-rapper in the group. He is also SHINee's dance copy machine. Key has the ability to see and remember choreography the fastest in the group. He only needs to watch the dance once and he has it memorized. He is also fluent in English -- almost as good as a native speaker -- one of the best non-native English speakers in the industry.
Minho -- the one with the red hair -- is the main rapper and visual of the group, but his vocals are also some of the best in the industry. Minho sings just as much as he raps. He also writes most of his own raps in SHINee's songs. Minho is a top actor and he has starred in numerous dramas and movies. He is also known as a top athlete. He says these days he goes to the gym a couple of times a day to work out just because he likes to work out, but he is also crazy about soccer, and he plays basketball, baseball and golf, and he is good at track and field events, etc., as well. And not only does he enjoy playing all those sports, but he is usually the best athlete on the field and he pretty much wins every time. Minho's nickname is "Flaming Charisma," and one reason is for his intense passion for sports and his need to always win.
Taemin -- the one with the blond highlights -- is considered one of THE BEST dancers in the industry (one of the top 2 best dancers of all dancers in Kpop), and that's not just by fans but by everyone in the industry, including his peers. Taemin's nickname is the Korean Michael Jackson. He is also one of the most popular solo artists and he is a member of the Kpop supergroup SuperM. Taemin truly is art when it comes to his performances.
Although Jonghyun wasn't in the MV -- because he passed away 3 years ago (4 years now) -- in order to get to know SHINee, you have to get to know him as well. He is known as one of the best vocalist in Kpop who was one of the most prolific songwriters and composers of his generation. Jonghyun wrote and composed almost 40% of SHINee's songs, plus he wrote all of his own solo songs and numerous songs for other artists, such as EXO's "Playboy" and songs for Taemin, IU and Lee HI, etc. He was one of the only SM artists to be given complete artistic control over his work, including several of SHINee's song selections. SM knew that if Jonghyun was involved in any way that the song would be a hit. He was extremely respected within the industry as a songwriter, composer and singer. He was one of the very first Idols to be known for this songwriting and composing skills.
SHINee are one of the top groups that are known for the fact that they all can do it all. They are a group of 5 amazing vocalists, 5 impressive dancers, 5 visuals, 5 rappers, 5 top actors, and 5 of the most talented and unique voices in all of Kpop. Once you get to know their voices you will always be able to pick them out of a crowd just by the sound of their voice. Most fans (SHINee World or Shawol for short) will tell you we know who is speaking or singing within 1 second even with our eyes closed, with them standing in a crowd of screaming fans. Each of their voices are that unique -- there is no one with a voice like any of theirs. That is why they are "The Princes of Kpop".
SHINee are known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. It's a running joke between the fans and the members that when SHINee lip syncs you can tell because it's very obvious. So unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, SHINee will always sing live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live and continue to sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography for more than 3 hours straight in concert. SHINee set the standard. That is why they are so highly respected among their peers. It is literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard all other groups strive to reach.
You should also check out SHINee's live performance stage for "Don't Call Me," th-cam.com/video/N3103Su_-cM/w-d-xo.html. (If you like the piano in this song, just wait until you see their live performance. The piano becomes even more noteworthy in the live. I won't spoil it, you will just have to watch it to see what I mean. :D)

I’m super happy you reacted to my ULT, SHINee!!! I’m subscribing in the hopes of watching you continue discovering all they have to offer, both as a group and as five exceptional soloists. I’ve already given quite a bit of info on the group and Taemin, but thought I’d give some info on the others, as well.
    The members are-
Onew (Lee Jinki, 14 Dec 1989), Leader & one of the best vocalists in Korea. Shawol Fandom Name-MVPs. Jinki calls his fans Jjingus, which is a play on Jinki & chingu, Korean for “friend”. He’s also a songwriter, pianist, actor, investor, environmentalist, and philanthropist. He’s recently released his second mini album, “DICE”, released his first Japanese album (which is full-length), just finished reprising his role as the male lead, Haram, in the musical “Midnight Sun”, and is currently on his first solo concert tour in Japan. You may also recognize him from “Descendents of the Sun” and various other dramas and TV programs (you should definitely check him out in the TV program, “Sea of Hope”).
Jonghyun (Kim Jonghyun - 08 Apr 1990), Main Vocalist (best vocalist in K-POP history). Shawol Fandom Name-Blingers (he’s Bling Bling Jonghyun). He is widely regarded as one of the best songwriters, as well. Jjong was also an author (“Skeleton Flower: Things That Have Been Released and Set Free”, talks about his songwriting experiences and inspirations), radio host (MBC Blue Night, 2015-2017), bass guitarist (though he also played other instruments…he’s well-known for his kazoo playing), and staunch defender/ally for mental health and LGBTQIA+ (even when it threatened his career).
Key (Kim Kibum - 23 Sep 1991), Vocalist, Dancer, Rapper, Fashion Designer. Shawol Fandom Name-Lockets (he’s our Key). Kibum also calls us Lil Freaks (inspired by Lady Gaga’s lil monsters…he’s our Captain Freak). Kibum is also an actor, former fashion editor for ELLE Korea, MC, and has a skincare line with Youlief entitled “Face” and a collaboration with the cosmetics line Espoir. He’s a longtime cast member of the weekly show, “Amazing Saturday”, is currently a member of the “I Live Alone” television series, and is an accomplished stage actor. Furthermore, he is known as one of the best-dressed men in Korea and began designing SHINee‘s concert attire in 2015. We were just recently blessed with news of his second full-length album, set to release 30 Aug 2022, “GASOLINE”, and it already promises to set the industry AFLAME 🔥! (Pre-orders are already available-I can’t wait to get my copies!!! Ahhh!!!!!)
Minho (Choi Minho - 09 Dec 1991), Main Rapper, Songwriter, Vocalist. Shawol Fandom Name-Flamers (he is Flaming Charisma). Best Choice (his web show with Naver) fans are referred to as BeChoDans. He has written rap lyrics for SHINee from debut and is also credited with collaborating on lyric-writing for multiple songs. Minho is an incredible actor, model, MC, and ambassador…he’s also a sports enthusiast and is very competitive (doesn’t hurt that he’s great at everything!). Minho has just finished filming “The Fabulous” for Netflix (can’t wait to watch it!!!), we’re awaiting his much-anticipated movie “New Normal”, and you correctly recognized him from “Hwarang, The Poet Warrior Youth”. You may also recognize him from “Yumi’s Cells”, “King of Golf, Season 2”, “The Most Beautiful Goodbye”, and countless other movies, dramas, TV series, reality shows, and as an MC of multiple events. Minho is an Honorary Ambassador of Youth, a UNICEF Unihero Campaign Ambassador, a K-League Ambassador, and was selected by the Korea Creative Content Agency, along with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as a virtual figure in the artificial intelligence booth, “Gwanghwa In”. He’s also currently a brand ambassador for the modern classic scotch whiskey brand, Ballantine’s. Minho is Shawol’s unofficial President and is the biggest fan of both SHINee and Shawol. Oh, he’s also been listed by Vogue in their “Sexiest Men Alive” list and won a spot on Cosmopolitan’s 35 Most Ab-Tastic Moments of 2015 for his special feature moment in “Dynamite” during the SHINee World Concert IV in Seoul. Finally, dibidibidis (IYKYK).
Last, but certainly NEVER least: Taemin (Lee Taemin - 18 Jul 1993). Main Dancer, Vocalist. Shawol Fandom Name-Taemints (SHINee was a total secret and not marketed at all before their debut so Taemin would hand out mints and candies to tempt people to listen to their music and attend their debut-which not even their families were aware they were debuting until they were on stage in front of them). Taemin calls his fans Jjakgoongs, meaning best friends/buddies/partners.
Best news Shawol received this year-
    SHINee’s BACK 2023!!!

Because Taemin is also a member of SuperM, I think SHINee's "Don't Call Me" MV and Fake Reality teaser is SM's way of drawing SHINee into the SM Universe and fully connecting SHINee to SuperM's/EXO's storyline. Hence, Minho's red hair and the red room with the chairs hanging from the ceiling. I think this might be connected in someway to the Red Force, which is the evil force in EXO's/SuperM's storyline.
As with everything that SM does, it's been designed to all connect. All of SM's groups' concepts and MV storylines connect together and it's all part of one giant Universe and story that started in 2012 with EXO's debut.
To understand how all of SM's groups are connected, you first need to be aware that it all began with EXO's origin story. As you may know, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from Planet Exo who have been sent to Earth on a mission to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force, while also trying to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, which are believed to be caused by the Red Force. The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda -- corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world, such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc.
SuperM is the Kpop industry's very first supergroup, which debuted in October 2019, and their concept and storyline is centered around the fact that they are Avengers-like superheros, so SuperM is the group that pretty much connects everything together. As part of EXO's story, Baekhyun and Kai -- who are members of EXO -- have recruited members from SM's other male Kpop groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT and Ten and Lucas from WayV -- and formed SuperM, to help them battle the Red Force.
So, because of this, all of SM's groups have storylines that connect. I see connections between EXO, SuperM, aespa and SHINee with the fact that we see SuperM riding on a subway train in their "100" MV and we see aespa in the subway in their debut "Black Mamba" MV, and now we see SHINee also in a train station in "Don't Call Me." And most recently, we saw Baekhyun from EXO/SuperM on an old train in his most recent solo "Bambi" MV. We even see Kai from EXO/SuperM on train tracks and people on a subway train platform in his "Film: Kai" solo debut teaser video during his "Amnesia" section of the video and as it transitions to "Mmmh." We also see Key from SHINee in a subway train in his solo debut "One of Those Nights" MV in 2018. And if we go back even further, you see EXO on train tracks in their "Love Me Right" MV and EXO-CBX (which Baekhyun is also a member of) on train tracks in their "Horololo" MV, etc. Which I think is all connected in someway.
The train station/subway platform in "Don't Call Me" also is given a very futuristic EXO-like feel with the view of space and the planets in the sky when you see SHINee dancing on the train platform.
I also think that the scene with Key in the red outfit standing on the phone booth submerged in water has something to do with the Red Force as well. In that scene we also see Key dressed in his black outfit with the feather headpiece standing in front of the image of himself, which looks as though this could be showing Key in alternate realities -- or a "fake reality." (And now that Key has released his solo "Hate That ... " MV, I think that scene with Taeyeon from Girls' Generation, standing on the rock in the middle of the ocean in "Hate That ..." is connected to that scene in "Don't Call Me" as well.)
Then it looks as though the SHINee members go through some sort of wormhole as they are teleported somewhere and we see them all posing in their black outfits. This looks very similar to the scene in SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV when the SuperM members are coming together at the beginning of "Jopping."
The members of SuperM are supposed to be coming together to help EXO fight the Red Force and to prevent or stop them from taking over the world, etc. As "The Avengers," SuperM is taking members from each of SM's groups and joining forces to take down the Red Force. And just like how the movies "Avengers Identity War" and "Avengers Endgame" eventually had each of the Marvel Avengers members recruiting their whole crew to help in the fight, I think SM is setting it up so that all of its groups' members will eventually be brought into the fight.
So, if you follow EXO's storyline, in EXO's "Obsession" MV we learn that the good guys are the members in the all black outfits, and in "Jopping" we see SuperM's "Avengers uniform" is similar all black outfits. So in the scene in "Don't Call Me," when we see SHINee all together in those black outfits, it looks as though they might be preparing to join in the fight.
And because of this, I think people need to pay attention to all of the storylines with all of SM's groups, because I think at least all of SM's third generation groups' MVs and storylines -- and probably even now their 4th gen. groups with the introduction of aespa in 2020 -- are being designed to connect stories and plots.
Each group has their own individual storyline and concept, but when you put them all together, there are threads of connections between the groups. And that includes SuperM, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT/WayV, aespa, and maybe even Taemin's solo work, and possibly even SHINee. Even though SHINee are second gen, they actually fit within the age group of third generation groups, so they sort of bridge that gap between 2nd and 3rd gen.
That is why I think that even though SHINee are part of the second generation, that SM is now working on bringing them into the storyline. And although most of SM's older groups' concepts and MVs may have never been originally designed to have any type of connection to anything to do with anything, that doesn't necessarily mean that over the years as EXO's story has evolved or SM's Universe concept was being created, that SM didn't find "happy coincidences" within those MVs that allowed them to use them as a way to connect things together. For example, some have pointed to the fact that Ningning's butterfly in aespa's concept from 2020 could be connected to the butterfly in EXO's debut "Mama" MV from 2012, as well as the butterfly in NCT-127's recent "Favorite (Vampire)" MV from 2021, and some have made compelling arguments that it could even be connected to SHINee's butterfly in their "Ring Ding Dong" MV from 2009. Or the blue roses we see in Taemin's "Press Your Number" MV from 2016 may be connected to EXO's flower/blue rose concept, etc. Now I'm not completely convinced that SM would reach back that far, but it makes you question and consider things. :D I mean we see what looks like the pink planet from Super Junior's "House Party" MV and a scene from Super Junior-K.R.Y.'s "When We Were Us" MV from 2020 in "aespa's ep.1 - SM Culture Universe" video. And SM has even brought Kangta, who is a member of the very first Kpop boy group H.O.T., which debuted in 1996, into the storyline with his solo MV remake of H.O.T's song "Free to Fly." And Max Changmin from TVXQ joins the world of Kwangya in his solo "Devil" MV when we see him on the pink planet, etc. So it's starting to look like SM may be hinting at bringing everyone into the storyline, including their older groups and artists.
You should check out SHINee's behind the scenes video for "Don't Call Me." This will give you a glimpse into the member's personalities and what SHINee are like as a group, and you will discover some fun behind the scenes information. For example, you will see that that book that Onew was reading was actually created specifically for this MV, and if you read the pages that Onew has open, you will see that it contains the lyrics of the song.

I'm kind of with you in that I tend to prefer 3rd and 4th gen, BUT as I explore 2nd gen I find the vocalists are AMAZING. Better trained for ballads. I really like Jonghyun and Onew's live vocal stuff. They remind me a little of EXO (both from SM) in that the lives vocals are really so so much better than recordings and title tracks.
This is a really really sad, but beautiful performance that the members performed after Jonghyun passed away. RIP.

Hmm this is the first reaction of yours that I've watched but from your comments I'm not sure you'd enjoy the rest of SHINee's recent group music, however all 5 of them are soloists and I think their solo music might be more your vibe. Obviously you've already checked out Taemin, Key is the one who stood out to you the most in Don't Call Me and he has 6 previous mvs and a new comeback coming later this month so he might be the next logical one to discover? Or if you wanted to check out one mv from each of them I'd recommend Jonghyun - She Is, Key - Bad Love, Onew - Dice and Minho - Heartbreak

Another really good group about the same age as Shinee is Infinite. They have two of arguably best vocals in KPOP they are pretty much doing their solos and military service these days. EXO is also another favorite of mine. Taemin of Shinee is also in SuperM. Another funny fact is that Shinee and EXO are two of the groups all of the younger groups look up to.

Replay was their debut song . They debuted 2008 leader Onew was 18 Jonghyun had just turned 18. Key and Minho were 16 and Taemin at debut was 14. Jonghyun wrote for shinee and many other artists Minho wrote all the rap verses.in shinee 's songs. Each member can do everything. Sing dance rap write songs ect their live vocals outdo their recorded work.
Though Taemin sought professional lessons for his singing and dancing he is a self taught dancer. And he was taught singing by Onew and Jonghyun. Taemin is also a pianist he his the piano segment in don't call me. And also in advice his own song.

    Fun facts for you
Taemin as I mentioned is a self taught dancer. He is also not so much afraid but he hates all insects and bugs.
Ring ding dong is the only shinee song which to this day is banned in Korea and japan. But only during school exam time.
Onew has the record for the longest song more of 40 seconds.
Jonghyun ha d an 8 high vocal range from low to falsetto.
They are the only band that do everything live and do not lipsync . They set the bar for all other artists in kpop an were the first to release dance practice videos
