  • A couple of adjustments to my game before we go and confront some very big fellows.
Baldur's Gate 3 is the sequel to one of Geran's favourite games growing up, and the most faithful D&D video game of all time. Eve the tiefling warlock is out on a grand adventure to get a worm out of her head!

If you're modding, there're two mods I'd recommend that I think just make for an overall smoother and more fun ride without 'ruining' a first playthrough:
    - Unofficial Bug Fixer: Basically fixes a lot of minor bugs to items/abilities so they work as their tooltip says they should, as well as fixing completely broken items/abilities or clearly unintended implementations. Examples include making Protection Fighting Style actually work (effectively broken in base game), make a shield bash ability use str/dex weapon DC instead of spell save DC, etc. It's a lot of small things, but in aggregate it makes the game less frustrating -- particularly later when you get a lot of cool items and want to play with them....but find they're not working as they say they should. Unfortunately it's just such a big game that there are still a fair number of small bugs
    - Native Camera Tweaks: Just makes the camera better and the game more immersive

I'll look into them. Thanks for the suggestions.

That bit about how the Flames of Phlegethos feat and how you tied it into Ela's and now Eve's characters is really cool. I've never done anything like that to show roleplaying in battle, but that's a creative method of characterization.

I imagine they only used the core book for the spells and feats as the number of options the other books add can be a bit overwhelming for new players, particularly Xanathar's Guide and Tasha's Cauldron since those two books are probably the most popular from the subclasses, spells, and feats they add. The core options are fine but on their own they lack versatility leading two different characters that are the same subclass feeling rather samey.
Will be interesting to see how you do Shadowheart as a Trickery domain tank- I would assume the combination would function similar to a Bard tank and be doable even if not the most optimal (I tried it with my Life domain Cleric in our campaign as he wanted to be a Paladin. It didn't work all that well as melee damage isn't a strong area for most clerics though did make for a fun character arc for him over the campaign coming to grips with it, especially in the final battle after one of the bosses hit him six times in one round knocking him unconscious).

There are some moments in the game where resistance is used in a dialogue check (like guidance) but not a lot

Personnaly less a fan of adding the extra spells, at least for a first playtrough. i do like the story with the feat and mind that mod less. But i feel like being restricted a bit more with spells gave others a chance to shine, and many of them have extra interactions within the game. i don't know if the mod added ones do. (i don't mean this as complaint or anything, still like the serries)

That's fair enough. The feats mod needed the spells mod to work, so probably would have been necessary either way. I can try to lean towards base game spells if something appeals there, but this just gives me more choice.
Frankly it doesn't help that my spellcasters are a warlock (limited choice, even more limited slots) and a cleric (no choice as such, mostly heal/buff duty). If Gale was in my party, I suspect I'd be more willing to experiment with spells.

you can swap out shadowhearts spells at any moment when you go to her spell list, makes the cleric pretty versatile. my personal favorite is glyph of warding on the cleric list. Also if you ever use gale, he can learn the spells from scrolls.

That's most of why I send all my spell scrolls to the camp chest. They may be useful, but I also want to make THE MOST POWERFUL WIZARD IN THE WORLD.
      Y'know. Just for fun.
