Maybe it was the police after they investigated the murder?
Maybe it was Clockwerk who took Sly to the orphanage, so that Sly would grow up and prove to Clockwerk and the world that the Cooper family is nothing without the Thievius Raccoonus.

A kid would never forget their parents killer, let alone, that the same murderer dumped them at a orphanage.
from what i could gather the assault started with Mugshot grabbing Connor, and each fiendish five member took a turn in the attack, while Clockwerk himself stated he “finished him”, my guess, Sly’s dad put up a fight but by the end was too exhausted and payed the price.
as for how sly ended up in the orphanage, simple answer, someone filed a noise complaint, police investigated and found the aftermath of the attack and sly hiding in the closet, perhaps it doesn’t matter who took sly to the orphanage, the important thing is that even though he lost his parents he still gained a family.
I really appreciate these videos! Not just because I’m craving for more Sly content but mainly because this franchise needs to stay alive. Hopefully one day we’ll get a new game but for now let’s just keep dreaming.

I think an interesting idea would be the Panda King. Out of the Fiendish Five, he is the most honorable one in the gang. He might have gone back in secret, maybe covered himself in a cloak or disguised himself and took him the nearest orphanage or police station. Considering the fact that he himself has Jing King, he may have felt that leaving a child alone without no living parent or family is a more than cruel punishment to them. Not to mention just killing a child is an dishonorable act even for him. If he was to face Sly's revenge, which he knew he would, he would rather do it when the boy was grown and be a worthy opponent and defeat Sly honorably.
Sly 5 should reveal who actually took Sly to the orphanage after the Night of the Attack and I could assume that it’s the police or probably someone else. For Sly’s trauma, it would be an interesting idea to have Sly cope with the loss of his parents as he is growing up with Bentley and Murray at the orphanage.
I could imagine Sly waking up from nightmares at the orphanage, Murray and Bentley there to calm him down.

I always assumed it was Interpol; I mean they have his file which contained the Information of the Fiendish Five so it's fair to assume they could have found Sly at the Crime Scene...The idea of Penelope going back and finding Sly could make an interesting plot point though
Quick thinking yeah we'd picture Interpol or child services.
What if it was Carmelita who took Sly to the orphanage. Like you mentioned, time travel is a thing in this series. What if while on her search for Sly, Carmelita found herself on the day Sly's parents were killed and she took him to the orphanage. I think it would be very interesting if Carmelita herself was responsible for the formation of The Cooper Gang. I think that's going to be my personal headcanon.
Now that would be a awesome twist, the man she would fall for years later, is the kid she saved in the past.

I think that Sly does remember the night of the attack very accurately,but he actively avoids thinking about it in order to stay sane and prevent mentally tiring himself with those traumatic scenes. Like, if you were to ask him "How did the night of the attack look?", he would in fact tell you everything with almost 100% accuracy. As for the "how did he land in the orphanage?" question, I think it was a police officer on the scene or as you said, Carmelita's father for example. She would definitely remember her dad saying "Some raccoon kid lost his parents tonight. Awful case, and it looks like gang stuff..." Time travel seems way too unlikely in this scenario and there are too many factors coliding to even make it work. I also think that the Night of the attack being playable is a must have in the next game, in form of a nightmare that Sly has. Seeing all of this and Sly waking up in cold sweat and trying not to cry would be probably the strongest emotional moment in the series so far.

What about Panda King after the evil gang kill Sly's parents and stole the pages from the book. Panda King saw young Sly came out of the closet. Panda King was shocked and knew what he did so he took Sly and his cane to the orphanage without the evil gang following him

What if instead of one of Carmelita's parents, it was Carmelita herself who took Sly to the orphanage?
I always assumed that it was clockwork, because he wanted to show that the coopers were nothing without their book, so he let sly live.
My first thought was it was the brains of Sly's father's gang. Trying to get there to keep the true secrets away from the five. And dumping Sly into the orphanage only to later discover he required the cane to open the door to the treasure hold.

Theory: It was one of the fiendish 5, they agreed to off sly's father, and maybe even sly's mother, but taking out a kid was against one of their moral code (perhaps mugshot or panda king). It could have even been clockwerk('s goons)- as he did mention letting sly live to prove a point.

I've actually made and seen artwork on Deviantart of Sly holding his childhood self. hugging him in that closet while they both have tears streaming down their faces... it was so sad. but it was like sly was telling his younger self to stay hidden and not do anything because of the grandfather paradox... like he needed his younger self to end up at that orphanage for the timeline to continue.
But i've realized that the "adult sly" wouldn't have worked... in the first game, Sly asked Clockwerk why he let him live, so young sly wasn't hidden that well. that closet is pretty tiny, I think the fiendish five wouldve seen adult sly. unless he showed up after the fact and took little sly to the orphanage?
I thought about carmelitas parents too aha or at least someone from interpol. if that were the case, she DEFINITELY would've heard about that. its a high profile case, what with his father also being a master thief, pulling jobs all over. (as sly mentions in the 3rd game) and she knows basically everything about sly when hunting for him. so i dont think it was interpol which makes it SO much more mysterious...
Maybe Mcsweeny? I dunno. its hard to say when he turned himself in, timeline wise. if it was after the death of Connor then maybe.. but also, in the comic, he totally wouldve said something. Well... maybe not. maybe he doesnt want sly to relive those memories...but there is something else that was interesting, in the comic, Sly almost couldnt remember where his dad took him. (italy, where the map to the cooper vault would be hidden) it's like hes surpressed a lot of memories from his dad just to cope with his death...

Good point about Sly not remembering Italy, an example of suppressed memories! If adult Sly took himself to the orphanage, I'd imagine it happening right after the Fiendish and Clockwerk left the scene.
In Thieves in Time Sly says that La Paradox had no one to show him the ropes when it comes to thieving but technically if you think about it Sly didn’t have anyone to show him the ropes either when it came to learning the family business, so who taught him how to steal? Was it Bentley and Murray at the orphanage? That’s always been my question
Something Sly said to Clockwerk in the first game: ''it takes great thieves to build the Thievius Raccoonus''. It feels like Sly did use the Thievius Raccoonus to some extent (we saw this during the chocolate heist in Sly 3 for example), but expanding upon it takes a Cooper.
Sucker Punch from 2004 needs to have written another comic. Time travel IRL and convince them.

Maybe it was clockwerk. Think about it. Remember what they said. “You must’ve known my father had a son. If you hated us so much, why did you let me live?” “I wanted to show the world that without your precious book, the cooper line is nothing.” Maybe he wanted sly to live so he could prove his point. Also can you imagine the shock, disbelief, and outright horror sly would be feeling when he finds out the one who took the lives of his parents, the lives of most if not all of his ancestors, is the same person he just realized he owes his life too. Because he knows he wouldn’t have survived on his own.
Also just picture it. Clockwerk silhouetted against the night sky. His massive wings blocking out the stars. His glowing yellow eyes shining brightly in the dark. And in his talons he is carrying a small sleeping child, as he flies overhead and off into the distance. And on a vantage point, the image of an adult sly cooper watching with a look of horrifying realization.
I can't even imagine how Sly would feel during such realization!

The only possible I can think of... Panda King... he was one of the original Fiendish Five... and remember on the third game, he was talking to his alter ego wants to make amends... just maybe maybe... Old Panda King took young Sly to the orphanage and gave either closure or redemption for Panda King... what do you think?...

I thought Sly had gone to the orphanage by himself. Or maybe the police heard about it and brought Sly there. But I know for sure it can't be Penelope, she would be young at Sly's age too if you see it that way. Or maybe she time traveled as an adult to help Sly. But if she did it, what had her up against the cooper gang? If she didn't like the cooper gang anymore, why would she help Sly and send postcards to Bentley? I never really understood her. She just confuses me.
Sly going there by himself, would contradict the "I was dumped there" line.

One reason Penelope would take Sly to the orphanage is to stabilize the timeline (her being there at the right moment and realizing that's what needs to be done).

I think if she took sly to the orphanage she'd have had to witness what happened hee self and maybe she's told the fiendish 5 where the book was located. But didn't anticipate the way it's go down. Either feeling bad knowing he and she just watched his perents die brutally. Or she thought she was stoping sly from becoming who he is the future but makes it happen anyway
He technically could still save his parents but it's pretty dangerous. All he needs to do is make young sly think they're dead. And he'll still grow up to be who he is. However there is also the butterfly effect with is highly unpredictable.
I absolutely love this theory so much that Penelope was basically slys version of reverse flash❤❤

I feel like clockwerk was way more likely to have taken sly to the orphanage than Penelope. Think about he purposely left sly alive
I'm imagining Sly knocking out his younger self before taking him to the orphanage, or simply calling the police to let them know that a house just got broken into and that there seems to be a kid in there (which is where Carmelita's mother might get involved). One scenario I'd like to see is one where Sly is given the chance to save his father but ultimately decides not to after being told about the damage it could cause to the timeline (not to mention the paradox that would ensue given that Sly's presence in that timeline was caused by a chain of events that started with his father being killed by the Fiendish Five; by saving his father he cannot save his father).

@@VtnVivi Possibly, but since it'd be an anonymous phone call (from a concerned "citizen" trying to keep off the Fiendish Five's radar) the only thing she can really do is tell Carmelita about the young Sly Cooper and his family's reputation.
I've been thinking. What if it could have been one of Mrs. Puffin's relatives? We know that this was the case for Bentley, so why not Sly? The thing is, though, Bentley wandered away from home due to nearsightedness, and I seriously doubt that Sly actually left home. Plus, it's not clear if this hypothetical relative of Mrs. Puffin's would have known that they would be trespassing by entering the Cooper home, or if they would have cared about it.

You know, it would be funny if it turned out to be Sly's family Landlord and Sly's parents died just before end of month and paying bills.

Make Sly 5? Time travel for rest of the game! Meet rest of the ancestors. Reunite with Sly and the Gang. Villains through different episodes not necessarily changing time but helping ancestors. Do like 8 episodes. Clockwerk and Penelope are the main villains, but we see Clockwerk’s orgins, saved and tricked by Penelope/corrupted by the hate chip. Sly gets to save his family but it helps with the villains plan brings back Clockwerk. Sly and the gang have to stop them before the changes become permanent and their lives/memories are forever rewritten. Sly gets to meet his dad they stop Clockwerk. Then sly goes back let’s his family get killed then takes young sly to the orphanage! Happy ending! Ending to the series! Sly 5: Master of Thieves on PS5.

I had the feeling it was Barkley he was a senior officer before Carmelita. I was going to make Carmelita's mom but that trashed because Carmelita is a different generation police family member. I will stick Barkley for Carmelita's mentor is an acceptable thought I mean he retired by the events of honor among thieves.

I think it could have child protective services, Sly's family could have had neighbors near them.
It could have been Sly himself, Sly 5 could end with Sly being the reason why his adventures started, because he ended up at that period in time, when his parents died, seeing himself all alone (kid Sly) Sly could have brought his younger self to the orphanage.
That would be a more epic twist, like how Jak saved himself in Jak 2, in order to start his life again.

McSweeney is not impossible, Sly could have been too young to remember him, but that leads to a bit of a plot hole, why didn't he (McSweeney) tell him?

If this is a Tera to the og Teen Titans situation, then the gang has a valid reason for not wanting to fully trust Penelope again, IF, her intentions were to screw over the gang again and be with Bentley.
I believe in second chances and character redemption,(if it's written well) but it would be obvious that Bentley, Murray and heck, even Carmelite would be cautious about letting her back in, until proven otherwise, even with Sly's moral code on family, but what about family betrayal? 🤔
Now that brings up a good discussion on how Sly and Carmelite view betrayal?
Not everyone just ups and welcomes back a betrayer LMAO, especially one that broke your heart and hurt your friends, those are deep wounds, they do not just instantly heal, as if it was yesterday's flesh would.
Realistically, it would take time and genuine proof, that the betrayer has changed.
Now that would be a better plot twist, imagine Penelope helping in the beginning and middle parts of Sly 5, then way before the end, (after finally finding Sly) she double crosses everyone, sending Sly to another time period, put Murray out of commission and Carmelite is down for the count, leaving her and Bentley alone together.
Now that would be a greatest twist, in Sly history!

If Carmelita's parents were cops the it's likely it could have been them that toke sly there maybe it could have been her grandparents scens might have been cops at the time and now you bring that up I wounder is sly and carmelita migth have gone to the same School at some point

Clockwork eyes or known to hypnotize his opponent, and we have seen sly Cooper become hypnotize by the Countess and clockwork needs a Cooper to continue on living currently possible no clockwork saw the boy in the closet and when so I saw him clockwork suggested that sly I need to go and find orphanage so that way clockwork may live on knowing that there is still one Cooper remaining remember he hates the Coopers. He kills some of them, but have he ever mention going after the children maybe when they’re adults but never when they’re young and he make sure that they have a family before he kills the adults just throwing that out there.

hello look, i don't know what to tell you, i don't like to break or destroy the hopes or fantasies of the fans of a fantastic saga like that of sly cooper, but i don't think it will ever come back.
