  • 1st time in Cambridgeshire and 1st time to Cambridge station on the West Anglia Main Line which is also junctions for Fen Line to Kings Lynn, Breckland Line, Cambridge Line via Royston and Ipswich to Ely Line.
Featuring services from Greater Anglia, Great Northern, Thameslink and CrossCountry Trains.
Cambridge first opened in 1845 is the 13th busiest station in the UK and it's also to have known to have the 3rd longest platform in the UK which connects Platform 1 and 4.
Nowadays managed by Greater Anglia with their services to and from London Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport to the South and Ipswich via Newmarket and Norwich via Ely to the North respectively.
Great Northern services provided by Class 387s operate half hourly to Cambridge or Ely or Hourly extension to Kings Lynn. In fact since electrification of the area in 1987 with the electrification of the West Anglia Main Line from Bishops Stortford nowadays most Great Northern 387s run non stop to London Kings Cross or locally known as 'The Cambridge Cruiser"
Great Northern 387s alternate with Thameslink Class 700s with stopping services to London Kings Cross in 8 car sets or to and from Brighton via St Pancras nowadays mostly 12 cars.
CrossCountry being the other operator operate services to and from Birmingham New Street via Leicester, Peterborough and Ely with Class 170s although one service a day starts at Bristol Temple Meads.
Greater Anglia operate with Class 755s to and from Norwich and Ipswich and also Class 720s which at the time of filming were gradually taking over services to and from London Liverpool Street. The Class 317s having been around since Electrification is sadly on it's final months of operation on the West Anglia Main Line.
In the future Cambridge will become a hub for the East West Rail from Oxford via Bletchley and Bedford. Section 1 is planned for opening in 2023 which will operate services from Oxford to Bedford including new high level platforms at Bletchley and following the course of the Marston Vale Line to Bedford however the section to Cambridge is not due to open for sometime due to ongoing planning issues.

@Thomas Gilbey gaming and trainspotting I wouldn’t really to be honest go that far because I know there are other spotters out there better than myself whilst I appreciate the comment however it’s something I don’t take for granted out of respect of other spotters
