Whit the sewing foot that you have, at what number do you place your needle in larger to sew at 1/4. Inches ??

I used foot 57 in this video. That's the quarter inch foot with a guide.

You do not backstitch when you chain piece- you sew one set of fabric and leave a few stitches NEVER RAISING THE FOOT then IMMEDIATELY sew without backstitching.
As you piece your quilt together you will anchor (or sew over) essentially back stitching - and your pieces will not come unsewn 😊

Good video but back stitching on each of these is totally unnecessary. It's a huge waste of your time and effort for no gain. And if you think about it, it's extra silly to recommend this as you will be cutting these pieced blocks in half in video 5 and of course, those cut pieces will not be back stitched where you cut (because you cut them down the middle, through your sewing line). So save yourself time and effort and forget back stitching as you chain piece.

Totally agree! Also, not sure why you pulled them so far apart when you were chain piecing. I leave just a 1/4” or so between pieces, and have had no problems with cutting them apart.

you could have done this tutorial in one video. No one wants to watch anyone sew one piece after the next. I like what you are doing, thinking you're helping out beginners, but I'm sure if quilters are watching this then they know the basics of sewing one piece to the next. Just my opinion anyway. Other wise good work.

Hi Jan- Maree, this was one of my very early quilt alongs ... I've since changed them and the pace is much faster. Have a good day!

no need to backstitch. this should have been one video...smh not watching the rest of them, its useless...sorry

It may be useless to a person that's been sewing for years but beginners appreciate seeing every single step.
