Hi everyone. I was looking at the TH-cam home screen when I noticed this video. I live right in the Dolomites, and knowing that they are so appreciated makes me happy. thank you so much Christian for sharing my home with the world
Hi @light_ackerman6972, honestly - I'm so jealous 🙂 Living straight in the Dolomites must be amazing For me it is around 4 hours to get to Tre Cime, with the van maybe even a tiny bit longer. But however, you definitely live in heaven. And I'm sure - or let's say, I hope - you'll like the upcoming videos over the next weeks, starting with this Saturday. Because I'm traveling right now and guess where I am 🙂 It would be great to find you in the comments again, to hear your opinion as a local 😉 Nice greetings, Christian
Hi Dietrich, there is definitely nothing bad with tweaking at the color, at all. Especially in fine art photography we should not shy this option, it can change the result really dramatically. Thanks a lot for watching and nice greetings, Christian
Ein fantastisches Video und großartige Fotos. Das Warten auf den richtigen Lichteinfall hat sich absolut gelohnt! Die Inszenierung mit der Musik geht unter die Haut ! Hat mir sehr gut gefallen! Sehr gut gelungen!
Boah, what a fantastic light you have for the last image. Such a sunrise is a dream. Wunderful images and video. It must a pleasure for you to be out at this morning and stand up to this hill an watch this live.
Hi Michael, thank you so much, my friend! Oh yes, it was so enjoyable to be out that morning, finetuning the composition while the light turned better and better. I don't have words therefore, actually :) Thanks a lot for watching and have a great weekend, Christian
So good to see you adventure in this stunning spot ! I wouldn’t recognise it without the snow :-) That puddle was sweet and the sunrise shot simply Devine
Hi Darren, thank you so much, buddy! I remember your winter video from Passo Giau, it was a great one! Yeah, it is definitely an attractive place for landscape photography also in winter. I guess there will just be no puddle there in winter, haha :) Thanks a lot and nice greetings, Christian
I love the Dolomites, but have only seen them in winter on skiing trips. Your video shows off their and drama so well, supported by the wonderful sound track. Great photos and a great lesson in patience.
Hi Mike, thank you so much, my friend :) You should go there to another time of year, once - for photography. The whole area is just amazing :) Thanks a lot for your kind words and have a great weekend, Christian
Hi Dimitris, oh yes, this would definitely by a nice feature for a composition. There are so many possibilities for compositions, actually. It is totally crazy :) Thanks a lot for sharing your idea and enjoy your Sunday, Christian
Ah... I've been on this one, several times, once, blasting through, passing cars, discs red hot at the bottom.... WOW! But, with my P67 & F1s, what a different trip... Selva di Cadore...
Hi Lohi, Passo Giau is absolutely amazing, but there is really a lot going on, on the road, during the day. But it's really quiet at night, I have to say. And the morning was just gorgeous :) Have a great weekend, Christian
Amazing work Christian! What a fantastic video. All the shots you captured were magnificent but I really loved the reflection shot. I’m a sucker for a good mountain reflection shot. Such an interesting and captivating adventure. Thanks for sharing buddy 👍🙏
Hi Adrian, thank you so much, buddy :) I know, you take a lot of breathtaking reflection shots in your videos. I totally like them, especially those with those dead trees. Really fantastic! Thanks a lot and enjoy your weekend, Christian
I'm new to photography I have the sony a7 ii and I believe the lowest iso is either 50 or 64 I noticed you mentioned keeping it on iso 100 should I use iso 50 if the light conditions are good and allow me to?
ISO 50 is only useful if you need a longer exposure time. Dynamic range or quality shouldn’t be different (if anything it’s worse) than on ISO100 as ISO100 is the base ISO on Sony Cameras.
Hi Delpha, the best thing you can do is, trying to use always the native iso, if possible. Which one this is, depends on your camera. As I have also a Sony A7ii lying around, I know that iso 100 is the native one for this camera :) Whenever you change the iso, upwards or downwards, you will loose dynamic range. iso 50 is a good choice if you want to get a longer shutter speed, but you would have to increase the iso too high by using an ND filter. This is why I often do a trick here: Instead of decreasing the iso down from iso 100 to 50, I use a circular polarizer with the lowest possible polarization instead. It takes around 1 stop and will lead to a quite similar result, but without loosing dynamic range. But please consider that a polarizer could also change the visual weigths in your composition. Also look what the polarizer does, first ;) But there is definitely nothing wrong with using iso 50. It is much faster set up than screwing a filter on, when you need that quickly. I hope this helps. Nice greetings, Christian

It doesn't have to have all that gorgeous color right out of the gate. thank you for showing us this!

I'm enjoying your videos and your tips are very useful. It's so powerful to understand how different lighting conditions affect the final image.

The table top with the cloud on it at 19:50 on your right also looks nice. Maybe for another occasion.
