I bought an Apple watch 4 and intended to pair and use with my iPhone 6.

I tried both of these solutions and it didn't work on my Iphone 6plus. At first, I thought I was missing something or not doing the correct procedure until I stumbled on your video. So, it's not only me who has this problem after all. Great video btw :-)
in such cases, Apple should offer the possibiliy to the user to downgrade their apple watch OS to match that of the phone, same as they do when upgrading it. otherwise it's just bad business practices.
Yes, I agree! Technically it is feasible but the Apple may not like to do it. I heard somebody bought a new watch with upgraded software and he was able to ask the shop to downgrade the watch to match his phone for free. They should make it free for all watch owners or make it possible online. Wish someday they do!
Or just make the latest watch software compatible with the older phone. That would be a better idea.

Hi, it is no longer supported by newer iOS phone, see the reference below. However if you have an older iPhone it may be paired Okay. Have a happy day!

i did activate the watch with a freind mobile then DC , i am still using the apple watch without the iphone 6 for almost 3 years i did continue to use it since i find that i can get updates fom the watch it self . The iphone 6 is the most sold device more then 250 million device worlwide so apple are pushing peopole to buy higher devices anyway that didnt works with me as i used the watch for checking time and sport but soon i will get the iphone 12 because i would like to get more advanges not because of @apple strategy . cheers!
i just got the samsung galaxy s23 ultra, which is much better than the iphone 14 so I will also keep my 12 pro max for another couple of years at least. these apple software updates that take functionality between their own products, is just not right. They get to decide when their own devices become incompatible between them since they make the software and hardware.

If the apple watch has never been paired with iPhone 8 or above, you should be able to pair. However please note that iPhone 7 is no longer supported by Apple, iPhone is not supported by iOS 16. If the watch has been paired with an iPhone running iOS16, you will not be able to pair it again with iPhone 7. Have a good day!

Hi, I haven't tried watch 3 but I think it should be in the same situation as Watch 4: it should pair with iPhone 6 but it may not if the watch software had been upgraded since new. Also consider that Apple has stopped supporting the Watch 3 with security updates(in 2022). Have a nice day!

@@Archie.9005 Apple launched ios 16 in 2022, however it stopped the upgrades for iPhone 7! The iPhone 7 is a nice phone, running up to iOS 15. At moment I am using iPhone 5, 6 and 7, my next phone will be 8 or later, but will wait for another two or three years. Have a good day!

More likely you can pair Watch 1 to an iPhone 5 or 6. Apple watch 3 may be paired with an iPhone 6. Apple Watch 3 should pair with an iPhone 6s or above. That's what I found and hope it help. Have a good day!
I met the same problem with Apple Watch S1 with IPhone 6. Once the Apple Watch S1 gets upgraded to new version, it doesn't paire with any IPhone with IOS 12.x.
It should be support since it had fully supported and the iPhones need updated since it was on iOS 12.5.1 to iOS 12.5.4
thank you for your comments. At the time, I did updated the iphone iOS 12 software first before pairing. The problem was that the apple watch 4 had been upgraded so that it was no longer possible to pair with iOS 12. only Apple would be able to downgrade the apple watch 4 software but that would be at a cost. have a good day!

I have the same problem. I tried to pair my old iphone 7 plus with the apple watch 6 44mm, which worked seamlessly a couple of years ago, before I moved to iphone 12. but surprise surprise, the iphone is now unable to pair with the apple watch. the apple watch 6 box says it is compatible with iphone 6s or newer. this is apple planned obsolescence. I am returning an apple watch 8 since I cannot give my old apple 6 to my dad. also the 8 is not much different from the 6, zero innovation, same old design and processor. and the ultra is just plain ugly and too expensive, not worth it in terms of value to performance.

No it don’t work mate it pair from iPhone we 1st generation onwards. Basically anything that runs iOS 15
just series 3/4 with watchOS 5.

Solution 1: you would be able to connect apple watch 4 to iphone 6 if the watch has not been upgraded; Solution 2: some people bought apple watch 4 new, they were able to ask apple to downgrade the apple 4 software so that they could connect to an iphone 6. Otherwise it may be cheaper to buy a iphone 7 or above to connect an already upgraded apple watch 4. have a good day!
Jailbreaking ur iPhone 6 to get iOS 15 may work
Sure..You can factory reset the Apple Watch since no one knows how to do it..then go back and paired the iPhone supported like the iPhone 5s/6 devices to runs on watchOS 5.

OMG, what kind of company does this!! Apple is the worst imagine buying Apple Watch and you have old iPhone and now you can’t use your watch unless you buy new iPhone. What kind of company is this!!
instead of innovating and getting people to willingly upgrade, they have this unacceptable planned obsolescence tactic to get you to upgrade. so much for saving the planet. I am not spending one dime on their products for the next couple of years at least. I just returned my newly purchased apple watch 8 since the 6 does not pair anymore with my old iphone 7 plus, which worked perfectly before. anyway all apple watches are the same from the 6 to the 8, no real innovation in hardware, software or design. my galaxy watch 4 classic has way more new features.

This was the problem I was facing. I’ve been trying to pair the series 5 to my iPhone 6 and it won’t work because my iPhone 6 was not compatible with iOS 13 so I had to f**** waste my money and buy a new iPhone 11. And then the dumba$** worked. 🤬🤬🤬

series 5 is for only iOS 13 and above..Your iPhone 6 will need to paired on Apple Watch 3/4 to support it with watchOS 5.
