@@vaborn6457 I knew that for a long time too, iwas trying to educate the young ones. Actually drove a retired race car at M.I.S., Jeff Burtons old Busch Ford ,the Baby Ruth #8 for around 20 laps. It was a regular old time 4 speed. It was through TracTime. It was a big deal.
Shifting gears you self gives the feel of the engine, a feel of mastering the machinery. In addition a car with a weak battery can be bump started, or slowed down should the brakes fail. As soon as you let off the gas a manual trans provides braking where as an automatic coasts.
Mighta been worth 27K pre-Biden .... things keep going as they have been, in a year or two you'll trade that classic gladly for a couple loafs of bread and a can of tuna ....

Check NASCAR history.....that's why they went to automatic transmissions.

They may not be automatic, but can be shifted w/o the clutch cept for 1st and reverse, I believe.
