  • TEDxToronto is the official TEDx conference for Toronto, Canada.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, it brings together the city's foremost thought leaders, change makers and everyday people from each discipline and challenges them to deliver powerful, unforgettable and unique TEDxTalks.
The theme of the second annual conference was A Call to Action. A total of 300 spots were reserved for audience members, while thousands more across the country joined via satellite locations and live video stream.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

Brilliant, I think we can all be reminded of the little joys of life and it bears repeating in our era of gloomy news and difficult lives...

I went threw a year of pain and terrible losses one after another, and because of you and your website, I was able to see the light at the end of the tunnel and see the little things that my inner three year old could see and cherish which in turn made me love life again. So I thank you for your website, your book, and now your speech.. it was AWESOME!

I was told its not about saying your awesome. it is about doing awesome things until one day you are awesome them. at that point your life will be full of truely kick ass awesome moments and only then you have lived a fucking awesome life.

    I loved the speech!
The only thing that made me go 'aww, noo' was when he said:
"all the teachers you've had, everyone that has ever woken up beside you, everyone you love, everyone in this room..." *expecting a nice comment about love* "will be dead in a 100 years" :(

FABULOUS TALK! I'm definitely guilty of letting that little negative voice inside get too loud sometimes, and thinking about this talk will definitely help me to push it back down and smile even when things are tough. :)

Let me save you all 18 minutes and give you all you need to know about living an awesome life.
Carpe diem. Now go do something you want to do. Enjoy all the little things and find the joy each moment brings no matter what situation you're in. Life can be hard but you can choose whether the difficulties are bad or good.
Now...go do something worth doing because you may never get another chance.

All worthwhile for the needlepoint book.
But some excellent principles beyond that.
Attitude and Awareness are pretty clear, but I wasn't aware of how big a deal authenticity was. But it makes great sense when you hear it.

He's saying you only have 100 years to experience the goodness of life. But what if you could experience it through Christ for eternity? Everything he's saying here is true, but instead of letting YOUR heart lead you, why not let HIS heart lead you. Instead of just being awesome for yourself why dont you experience true joy by being awesome for Jesus. If you think I'm nuts, I'm just the messenger, I'm just giving you an opportunity to really invest in something that matters beyond your 100 years
