Ciao amici ! If you want to get good valuable info on beautiful Calabria. Check out my playlist !! th-cam.com/play/PLdl3P2M2QYpzaFd0foMsEj0-PkwYA_LZ3.html
Hi Lily, I am originally from the Middle East but raised in America. Middle Eastern culture is the same as the Italians, when it comes to looking at your best. I think when we look our best, even if we’re just going to the supermarket changes our internal and external energy, When we look good, we feel good and I believe it also makes people around us feel good. I’m glad you were able to understand this valuable change and may you continue to thrive, God bless you.
Yes it feels good to put my best foot forward. I like taking the best care of myself!! Thank you for the lovely comment and your support. Hugs from calabria
Lily, I’ve been watching a lot on Italy these last 3 years, I’ve been so wanting to visit Italy but it hasn’t happened yet. I also watch real estate in Italy especially in Calabria, I hope to one day soon the path of buying a property there will come true. It would be so wonderful to have a friend or be guided by someone there just to feel comfortable and not feel alienated. If you know what I mean. Lily have you made a video about how you transitioned there, if you had people support you, if you held a job there, etc? You know, how you made it to live there and what are the possibilities for us to move there? It would be helpful to know.
Yes I made a video about how I got to calabria. It’s somewhere about a year ago. I must say I hated it here at first bc I had no friends and couldn’t speak the language but once I got over that I fell in love. Let me know if you ever make it here!!
@@CalabriaDreaming thank you so much, I’ll look for that video. I will definitely let you know when I come there, I d love to have friends , since I watch you all the time, I feel like I already know you. If I were to visit Calabria, what would you suggest my itinerary look like?
Lilly, Long time no see. I remember when you celebrated the 500. Here you are! on the way to 10K. Listening, Sharing and Liking your videos. We bought a little place in Casarano , not too far from you. Next time we visit we will try to connect with you guys. I have yet to see your area. Who knows maybe that is our next stop. Keep those videos coming. Show us your food, traditions and specially those markets. We love all that. I still think you have an amazing logo for your channel . So nice to see you back. 🥰
Thank you for being with me on this journey!! I appreciate you so much and your feedback. After a long break I’m ready to show off this beautiful place. Please let me know if you are ever in my neck of the woods
Would you be able to do a video on your skin care routine and beauty secrets from Italy? I love your videos! You’re so beautiful and I love learning about the beautiful Calabria.
Brava Lily! You're doing a great job promoting Calabria with your informative and very entertaining YT channel. I hope folks who consider relocating here learn how to speak the language...that, to me, is #1. The fact that you've embraced your inner "Calabrese" is amazing. My hope is that Calabria does not, in any way, turn into Tuscany...what my friends here call "Londra-Viv" (UK and Israel), a world of wealthy vacationers who orbit around the locals and the culture. All of your followers, especially those who are considering a relocation or extended stay, should read "The Pursuit of Italy " by David Gilmour. It will give them a get a grasp of the background of what they're getting into. Keep doing what you're doing Lily. . Your Calabrese neighbor and fan, - Joe
Thank you Joe so much for your lovely feedback and your support. I lived in Florence and know exactly what you mean. Luckily calabria has an amazing filter and usually snowflakes like that stay in easy places to live. Calabria is not for the faint of heart you truly need to be a cowboy to live here. I hope you pick up the language and make your way to living here soon. Life is too short!! Hugs from calabria
I was born in Milano, Italy but have lived in California most of my life. My Nonna and mamma always looked put together and that is deeply ingrained in me. You'd Never catch me looking like a slob out in public. People have actually critized me for it lol... But at the end of the day it's self respect, and I will never change. Love the pace in Italy, especially in the south. Great to have you back! Ciao 👋
The smoking culture in Calabria amazes me, when I’m back in England for most of the year i hardly see any smokers about, but when I visit Calabria everyone seems to be a smoker. In my experience the drivers in Italy seem ultra aggressive drivers. They are hardcore tailgaters on the motorway aswell flashing their high beams or leaving their indicators on to tell you their insistent they are coming through at rocket speed.
@@CalabriaDreaming too right lol Lily I’ve been back to Calabria most summers for the last 25 years. Thought I would mention that in this vlog you are looking really good, healthy, and radiant. It Must either be all the olive oil your using in your Calabria diet or your just aging like a fine wine 🍷 Great to see you back with these interesting and insightful vlogs ! I miss the sea and beaches of Calabria, patiently awaiting one of your beach vlogs to help me reminisce over what I’m missing until the summer 😬
lol I shipped my motorcycle to Italy for a 25 day motorcycle ride across Italy... I feel you on the driving... how I started going through the roundabouts on day 1, vs day 10, vs day 25... I was like three totally different people lol
@@CalabriaDreaming -I looked it up and it looks like a lovely area and near the sea! Can you get an affordable rental there? I’ve heard rentals can be difficult in Italy or require very long term lease and this is required before applying for a visa. Many people looking to buy property in cash for retirement. I’m thinking about all this as so near retirement status.
I remeber when my nona was dying in the hospital it was year 2000. i was shocked when we were in the waiting room and the doctor came out to tell my uncles how my nona was doing, with a butt hanging from his lips.. I was like wtf???
My family is originally from Catazaro. I want to make a long trip, 6 months maybe, to research my family and embrace everything this area has to offer. Any information you can share is much appreciated, such as what types of jobs are high in demand - especially for someone who can speak and understand some Italian, but is not fluent. I just found your page today and so far, I love your channel and how did you meet people? Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching!! I’m happy to share about my experience living here. It’s a hole other world. I hope you enjoy my little channel and feel free to reach out if you ever make it here
I will be in northern Calabria in a few weeks visiting family (Rossano). I will be traveling south to sicily. do you have any restaurant reccomendations that are a must? I know you are more mideast calabria. but any info would be great thanks. If you have any advice on how to take the ferry with a car from Villa San Giovanni to Messina that would be great. I see that I can buy tickets online. but they must be converted before getting on the ferry? very confusing. should I even buy them before?
Sorry I still haven’t been to Sicily can you believe it!!! And so sorry I’m from the bottom of the boot not familiar with that area. All restaurants are good here so I’m sure you’ll eat your face off! Best of luck and have a great time
You are correct about the meat. My niece married someone who raises cattle and everyone has chickens. All the animals live a better life than they would in the wild always frighteened and trying not to get eaten by other predators and by far better than america where they cram 1000 of them in a warehouse. So although I dislike the thought of killing animals its good to know they lprosper for a long time before the end. Also I cant do veal from anywhere. I just dont like the thought of eating baby anything
Very happy for you and your change in diet. American meats are not shit. They still provide a ton of protein and are a much better choice than prepackaged foods which contain soybean oils and canola oils. They are literally poisons and cause chronic illness. Nina Teicholz “The Big Fat Surprise “ is a genius and a goddess who teaches the importance of animal fats in the diet. We are moving to Lake Como this summer, but I much prefer southern cuisine. Carne cruda is not my thing. 🤢
Babes you can’t escape death. The tofu you eat kills snakes rabbit and a ton of animals. Obviously there is suffering in the world. Trust me I’m Buddhist and I am aware but don’t think that vegans are holier then thou. Karma is real and some souls are born into suffering bc of their actions.
