Thank you, Mr Martin, for sharing your experiences and speaking so frankly! It is extremely helpful that people with the same diagnosis can get help via these informational videos. And a little bit "off topic" - thank you for your service in Germany. In my opinion our freedom in Europe has been founded on all the help that we have been provided with by the U.S. All the best for you and your family! Herzliche Grüße aus Deutschland 😊
Thank you so much for your encouraging and generous remarks! I’m extremely heartened that you find my ideas helpful. And I appreciate your positive comments about serving in Germany during the Cold War, which were my favorite assignments! Thanks again, and wishing you all the best! - Gregg F. Thank you Sir for sharing , I am Air Force retired , was stationed in Germany during Mad Cow Disease, I was full blown bipolor in my 40’s I managed to retire honorably , and checked myself into the VA , and have been taken care of , and medicated properly. Your story is so much similar to mine . I wish I could talk to more military veterans with the same story ..

Dr. Martin, your battle buddy gave you the best advice and encouragement. My own story is more typical with diagnosis at age 20. Fifty years later my 32 year old son was prescribed an increase dose of his ADHD medication that resulted in an acute manic episode with psychosis. Fortunately I was diagnosed early and stabilized as was my son. I recently reconnected with my first psychiatrist (now retired) to let him know the rest of my story: married 46 years, 2 children, semi-retired physician. Thank you for sharing your story, for your military service, and especially for the courage to share the details of your diagnosis and treatment of bipolar disorder. GJBrownDO 4/3/2024 21:43 Pacific

1) thank you for your good, long service to the U.S.! 2) I was Desert Storm Air Force. I only did 4 years and wasn't diagnosed until 1995, (a year after honorable discharge. ) As I look back before my diagnosis I say to myself: "no wonder". 😊
They say "there's nothing wrong with you" because they want to treat it as a 'behavioral issue' and get out of paying any kind of stipend after they leave service. Even if you have BPD they don't really care as long as you shoot straight, march straight, and follow orders. Unless you're in a leadership position that they want, so then they'll besmirch your reputation to get it.
Some ppl will detach, not reply, cut you off, or etc simply becuz they don’t understand you. You got to be your best advocate, you got to give yourself all that love & investment that you are desperately seeking from others.

This just knocks my socks off! First, 2014 and this guy too 2 years to get his meds straight...On Top Of Giving Him Lithium which goes back to the 50's! Then Lithium is probably one of the worst meds to choose today due to kidney damage cause Stupid Doctors don't tell patients to drink lots of water! Your story was so inspiring for me, suffering from Bipolar 1. And as you said, high performance can mask bipolar manic symptoms
