OK GUYS BUT WAIT i was just rereading the hinata beach volleyball arc and realized when oikawa and him are eating and seeing other for the first time oikawa reveals that the guy talking to him isnt his coach. I always thought he was his principal or assistant coach but it was an old pro player for argentina jose blanco who was coaching nearby for the local pro v league team the red falcons. Hes the one who told oikawa not to quit before giving it everything he has and hes the coach he decides to train under when he leaves to play overseas after highschool. THats INSANE. I never connected the dots until now

Its interesting that Oikawa's character flaw - comparing his abilities to others and feeling inferior likely also stems from his advantage - being able to read others and mentallly support (teammates) or break them (opponents). He is such a good player because he is constantly watching, evaluating, strategizing for others on the courts but because of that he is distracted and demotivated by the geniuses he can see around him and blind to the skills that he could achieve and improve on that he can control.

At the end of the day, what is a more enjoyable way to live life? Believing there's further you can go and doing your best, or knowing there are places you can't reach and giving up?
    The answer should be obvious.

And also, there are people who were useless in something but they tried so hard that they became good or even the best at it! So it's even more worth and enjoyable way of living, because someday, even the impossible can become possible.
A hard worker can surpass a talented one and that's true.

@Football Enthusiast yup, that's true. It's still good

@Football Enthusiast Working hard enough to compete with people that are naturally gifted is already a talent, Oikawa Tohru is talented

@@katsukibakugou7878 There is ALWAYS room for improvement, what stops people from going further is literally their minds (and age ofc). It's not like Oikawa is -10000 talented in volleyball he is good but he ain't a freak of nature born to play the sport like Kageyama. But his hunger to win and his natural feeling for understanding the game made him able to compete with Kageyama and actually win multiple times.
"Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard" is a flawed quote since the only limit for hard work is the one you impose in yourself, you can always compensate if the naturally gifted player also works hard. That's what Oikawa did, talent (predisposition to the sport) doesn't matter nearly as much as people think it does.
