@@BluesGold.Actually, for one a lil mean to call people idiots when the wording of it on Bulbapedia is pretty vague in terms. But for two, potioning at all doesn't work. Specifically battle items, like X Attack and such that raise a Mon's stats in battle are the only items that raise friendship. So, no item other than those are what matter for friendship in terms of item usage in battle.
@@peacefulflower9468 Not in generation 3. There is a know glitch in gen 1 that allows you to max out Pikachu's friendship while attempting to using potions in battle while the HP is full. Up until generation 6, potions always work for happiness points. Can’t be sure which system this game is using because it's a hack, but if it's gen 3 rules, then potions would still raise happiness if used in battle. Hope this helps you.
@@BluesGold. I'm wondering where you're getting your info on that glitch. Because for yellow, that is correct. But for after, there is a list on Bulbapedia as to what contributes to friendship, and each action which contributes has their values listed as well. So, it's pretty clear they have specifics. I also can't find anything on the glitch by searching it on google. So, do you have a link to something about the glitch?
@@peacefulflower9468 Yes, the glitch is specific to the Pikachu in Yellow because it is the only pokemon in those games to have a happiness value. From gen 2 onwards, all pokemon have a happiness value.

listening to the idiots try to falsely explain how happiness works hurt me physically.
The items have to be USED IN BATTLE to get happiness. So potioning Melina in the overworld did absolutely nothing.
