GoPro inside the cutter housing! You sir are either a madman or a genius, haha! Love it! I don’t think I could bring myself to do the same with my Hero 7.
This was a really good video. I think you're closing in on just the perfect amount of different angles. The before and after was awesome. Those overhead, drone shots of you mowing were really cool; more times than not you can't beat a bird's eye view.
I worked on these things for over twenty years before I retired. I really liked the unique perspective of the underside shots. We were told that the blade tip speeds on our brush decks were close to 200 mph. I've seen some pretty large stuff cut by one of these, and some bad damage when things go wrong. Thanks for the video.
Mike that was awesome. Never thought I would see the view from under a Bush hog. It is scary to think about looking at it from a distance going full steam, so being able to see it work was pretty cool. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. We all know how busy you are and it takes a lot of time to not only record, but edit and upload as well. Just want you to know that it is very much appreciated. You have so much excellent content all the time!!
Thanks Mike I'm disabled with a bad back but like you when I was younger and not in pain I could turn my hand to adapting or making things. Keep up the good work with the film's and it would be nice to see some more film's with your family in. A devoted fan from the UK and will keep watching.
Nice. I got all the stuff to do it and was gonna make one. For ten years. And of course never got to it. Was gonna over lay my old deck with full 3/8"plate and rib up top and all sides. Oh well maby someday. Glad you threw this up. Gets me in the mood to build one.
Few years back the state hired a guy with a large JD excavator with a type of flail mower on the stick. Closed up the hydro dam to a trickle and he went down in there and mashed all the saplings and bushes. Trees on slopes 4 to 6 inch caliber gone. Looked like a bomb went off when done. The wailing of attached tool was incredible when free wheeling!!
Just goes to show what you can do if you want to. Not every thing has to be store bought to work like a champ. Merry Christmas to the Dirt Perfect household.
I was one started talking about. Cordless leaf blower for trailer cleaning. I have a 80 volt green works an my equipment guy uses craftsman brand. Works real good on dry stuff but keep old push broom handy if its heavy wet stuff. Plus cleans cab out good too.
Very nice ! Looks like that work as good or better than a factory model to me. Great camera angles ! Thanks for the video it takes a lot of time to get the angles and put it all together I appreciate it! Keep up the great work !
I am envious of you and what you do. I had a great career, but wish I could do what you do. Sure, you get paid for what you do. but you help so many people out by doing a good job and caring about every job that you do. You do things that most just aren't able to participate in doing your job or jobs. Keep up the good work and I really enjoy seeing your videos.
Who has the most expensive lawnmower ! 😆 Mow the water. I can’t believe the magnet held the camera with all that grass hitting it. Nice footage and nice operator there.
Mike that setup is awesome man. Does a killer job. Ol 120 is a money making machine son. I like how diverse you have made. Merry christmas to you and yours.
Just like to say that I've watched 99% of your videos and all ways look forward to the next one, so keep them coming for 2020. Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year. Chris p from England.
Gotta love it when a homemade invention works well. I used to maintain those by hand. You would need a string weed wacker a metal blade weed wacker a chainsaw, loppers, major pia. Maintaining streams and ditches is a tough job with or with out the excavator. You ever think about making a bolt on expanded metal screen to protect you more? Awesome cam views btw
All the farmers in my area (northeast Florida) have their own rear mount hydraulic ditch bank mowers. Our turn-rows are firm so no worry about sliding into the ditch. If the other side is inaccessible you just scrape it down with the backhoe when you clean the ditch. When I worked on a farm I did wish for a boom mower to trim the tree branches that were on the other side of some ditches. I had to be careful or my sprayer arms would get hung up when I was turning around..
I would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year ,i have really enjoyed the videos this year keep them coming.👍👍👍🇬🇧
Nice job Mike! And the worn coupler is nice because it allows the mower to follow the contours of the ground. We used to burn our ditch banks every year but with global warming these days it's kinda frowned upon now, it's a balmy 4° Fahrenheit right now. ;-)
Aside from global warming... you also get more erosion when you burn. I do the job he’s doing with my weedwhacker... trying to figure out how to adapt it to my baby backhoe after seeing this!
@@sassafrasvalley1939 that may be on hillsides and what not but our farm and the whole valley itself was really flat and when we'd burn our irrigation ditches and stubble fields and I'm taking around 2,000 acres just on our farm there was no erosion at all. The roots would still be intact in the ground afterwards and everything would be green again in no time. Our soil was also very heavy.
Clyde Acor yup that’d do it. Here in the Ozarks... the soil is so poor and hilly that only the bottoms have top soil... you know, the soil from up top... Have a safe and Merry Christmas.
Hi that works great . I only have experience with mounting flail mowers , adding a relief line to tank for the free spin after shutdown. I'm assuming that this stops at shutdown 🤔 🇨🇦 Craig
They make special purpose mowers like this and I’ve seen the State use them on their ROWs. But I’m sure they cost a fortune and this works just fine. Can’t beat ingenuity and a good welder. Merry Christmas to you and yours. 🎄 🎄🤶
Man that bush hog is a beast. I bet that will last better than a high dollar new one. That the first time I've ever seen the underneath of a bush hog running and Hopefully I'll never see it in person 😂 keep up the great videos sir
Genius attachment adapter Mike! You should sell the plans for your "long reach" accessory and this reworked bush hog on your website. Very cool ideas that work....lol Merry Christmas to you and your family from here. Work safe. Doug@ the "ranch"
You've definitely developed a nice touch with that homemade adapter , keeping it out of the dirt all the time will surely make it live a lot longer ! Fact that the camera survived is pretty impressive , view I don't ever want any one to see any other way !!! Do you have any experience with a drum head /mulching head , I've thought they would be good for field borders by the timbers ?! Thanks for the video and have a fun Christmas !!
Been looking at doing same thing for a family member. Worst part is spec hydraulic motor to try an eliminate old gearbox. We are looking at excavator mount like yours an then putting skidsteer mount on the opposite side.
Job well done, that’s a nice little attachment. Found myself wondering if there would be any advantage to a similar setup with a power rake. Great camera shots and drone footage. Take care, merry Christmas.
good idea but you need a screen in front of you on that cab i dont want to hear about an accident i hit a rock with brush hog threw knife off went sixty to seventy feet be safe merry christmas

I may have to look into building something similar to that, would be great on a decent sized mini ex mowing lagoon banks. Great video Mike.
Yes Jason works a lot built one for his min ex and works good for him
👍 Nice finish for a bush hog. I guess you could start doing trail, tree, and hedge haircuts if your main gig ever slows.
Lol yup and thanks
The floppy coupler works well here. It allows the brush hog to kinda follow the terrain.
See? It's not a bug, it's a feature!
