Being born in Los Angeles, California, and having lived there for 54 years, I developed an enthusiasm for police helicopters. I've always wanted to go on a ride in an L.A.P.D. F.L.I.R. (forward looking infra red) copter. But now, after getting addicted to British police and medical programmes, my wish list has shifted a bit. Being diagnosed last May with Stage 3B Colon cancer, I've decided to group two items on my bucket list; See Britain, and go on a ride with India-99! The new 5 million pound ones! You guys are awesome!
Just realised that these copters aren't exactly "new"; just was fed this show recently via TH-cam. Either way, you're still on my "probably won't be filled" bucket list! So grateful for TH-cam!

If you like British police stuff there is a show called police interceptors
Try Coppers, Police Interceptors....
the British Police use the "box them in" technique when trying to stop a vehicle. this requires multiple squad cars all trying to get into place to enclose the offender. which rarely works. the US Police use a "pit" maneuver to force the offender to spin out and stop which requires one squad car and works almost every time.

The commander at the football match looked straight out of Central Casting for The Bill. But why did he need a helicopter to monitor that crowd? Surely his own officers around the ground could take a look and communicate with him?

What really annoyed me about this episode is the fact the helo didn't switch to thermal imaging, even though the conditions were perfect. Would have made it easier for the cops.

@@rosemarydudley9954 yes, it does. It's thermal imaging, not night vision.
Having only used one on my firearm, yes they can be used during the daytime. However, keep in mind that it is better used during cooler conditions than hotter ones. Hotter conditions make the use of them more difficult (due to the surrounding area's being hotter)
As far as why they didn't use them, it may be standard policy not to (I remember here in Vegas that during the summer our law enforcement are only allowed to use them at night, while during the winter they can use them during day/night)

The match was the least exciting and most incident-free thing about the whole programme.
Away days were great, I say "were" as SUFC will be demoted sooner rather than later. The Blades fans talk funny, act funny and think that they are harder than God. SWFC are simply brilliant, good football fans who like to mix and talk. I forget the amount of Blades "big boys" have begged me to get off their necks. #WHUFC
