I enjoy Pluto Jackson so much. Good fun, but also a good character at the same time. Sebastian and Veo are great characters as well. So many memorable moments in this campaign
Man, it must be so hard to prepare challenging encounters for these guys. Everything dings off Pluto, then either Veo does 90 damage in one turn, or Sebastian disables 2/3rds of the enemies, or they bullshit their way out of the fight altogether. That look of utter defeat on Monty's face when they execute helpless bandits is priceless.
Can I say, I love the way you DM... you let them have their fun and talks, but wrangle them in at perfect timing. Also, combat is fun and you let them dictate enough while reigning them in where needed. A perfect balance in the DM role and the PCs not pushing too hard makes this great! Love watching you!
Dungeons of Drakkenheim is on hiatus for the holidays. We will return January 14th, 2019. Note that this is a MONDAY, an exception to our regular Tuesday air time. This will continue the following week on Monday, January 21st. We will be back to our regular Tuesday nights on January 29th, 2019. We want to thank you so much for following along our adventures, and we will see you again in 2019!
This episode showed exactly how decisions in D&D can take you somewhere where you would never expect to go. It was a lot of fun. Pretty good that you guys are still in Oscar's house, because you need to ask for the haze immunity potions or River will be angry :D
I find it awesome how both parties can shift the story's direction: The players keep leaving one shot NPCs alive, then use them to further the story, derailing Monty Monty can simply call a random encounter or say "a lover boy in the hooded lanterns has a big mouth" to uproot all their plans. And yet, not one ounce of metagaming amongst any of them.
I have been binge watching this campaign for how interesting and how amazing of a job Monty does in making a world that is GTA or Saints row esque(a sandbox) with so many chains and quests and recurring characters to have to keep track of from a voice perspective, a personality perspective, always guessing what the players are suddenly going to do differently ‘this’ time. I’m behind but I’m definitely supporting this patreon. I would write a full review of so much beautiful character development each player is endeavoring to make. There’s amazing inter character drama ‘and’ on the fly comedy, and on the fly reaction and sudden realization- as if a choice that means nothing in our lives is ‘still’ just as impactful to the player as the character. Anyway. Essay over. I am loving this.
@@DungeonDudes Lmao A-boot, Sore-y, and others. I'm from Michigan in the US, so your accent isn't very jarring to me, but I can tell the inflections when I hear em. Also you guys are awesome! I love this campaign because I could easily see myself being friends with this group. Especially Kelly, Evil dead, rick & morty, Blink-182. A true man of culture
I think Joe/Pluto is missing an opportunity with saving the Queen of Drakkenheim. Its 15 years since the comet fell. There's potentially a princess of Drakkenheim some place of marriageable age. Prince of Caspia and Drakkenheim and who knows what after that? Putting himself in direct line to the throne of Drakkenheim? That's gotta be worth more than a couple chests of gold.... Love the game so far, its really getting going :)
@@sphinx19l The perfect husband for a queen who wants to continue to rule her kingdom in her own name. Pluto would be too busy fooling around to bother governing the country! :D
This is my new favourite stream. I'm pretty late to the party, but this setting is amazing. I love the fantastical elements, the fact that magic is completely baked in to every square foot of Drakkenheim. This campaign has inspired me more with ideas for my own campaign than any other. Also Monty's DM style, and creature preference.... And even certain elements of lore (like the fact that all the beastfolk, tabaxi, ratling, gnoll, kuo-toa etc. Have this common resistence to delirium and connection to the city.... In my campaign all beastfolk pre-date the godchild races such as elves, human, halfling etc. And have connection to the ancient lore). So elements of this game actually transpose well in to my own. Great stuff guys. Definitely top of my list now.
I've started a new campaign that is basically a dead rip-off Drakkenheim. It was placed within my homebrew world, using elements that already existed in the previous campaign and giving the players their own influence created a mini adventure (Due to scheduling comitments/I'm the DM and my wife went back to work after maternity leave...4 of 6 PCs couldn't make the only day I could do). So now one of the two remaining players backstory elements involved an airship that disappeared in a wild magic storm. It's returned 3 years later covered in a mineral known as 'Unstable Eridusk' Eridusk is an established mineral, but the unstable variety acts more like delirium. The other character had ties with the sky pirates that discovered the ship. And the ship isn't as deserted as you'd think. So now you have a faction of information brokers backing the sky Pirates, a faction of monks that are communicating with a survivor on board, a faction of Wizards trying to study the Eridusk without letting any faction gain access, a faction of orcs trying to use it to unite a hoard as a major WMD and a soon to arrive faction from the Imperium that lost the airship to the storm 3 years ago who's outlook will be that it should be destroyed before it reaches civilisation. As soon as I watched Drakkenheim I realised that Monty's style was just masterful and something so different from my usual method that I wanted to try my own Drakkenheim-ish campaign. And this is turning out to be such a blast with my players. Having 5 grey-area factions that players can simultaneously get behind and disagree with and having them literally stop in their tracks trying to parse through the information to make the best decision out of a murky situation is amazing and I'm so glad I found this. I'd definitely buy the source book if it ever got released.
21:40 that moment when even a most unserious party gets hit in the heart. God knows I'm DMing for a party that isn't easily moved by drama and/or horror, and I love it when it finally reaches through their humor wall :)
The reason for River being devious is simply because she is a tiefling... Yes, she is taking orders from the Amythist Academy, but her presentation seems shifty mainly because her tiefling heritage doesn't strike well with others... It's kinda like a person from a country that burps in the chef's face to compliment them when that isn't the chef's custom. It appears rude and off-putting.
I just got caught up after watching these all week. Amazing and so much fun! You guys are awesome. Can I just say that Veo is a freaking monster wrecking ball? I wish I could play with you fine folk!
I think Pluto's reaction to grab his folks and retreat was a good idea, people don't retreat enough in these games and he had a very compelling reason to do so. But Sebastian insisted on trying his thing and going back to grab him after he finally freed himself must have been frustrating a little bit. Of course Kelly is a cool polite person, but I know I would've found that irritating. I'd have resolve this situation as : "You wanna try some creative tactics before retreating ? Fine, but I'm outta here and I have a very good reason to do so !"
Agreed, the rp was poor this episode compared to other episodes… it took me out of the story… Kelly plays his character perfectly, Pluto acts too much like a beta , no prince fighter would act like that, I realize he must keep the peace because this is a production and not a true dnd experience. I’ve seen people throw down and pc fight each other because it made sense for rp reasons.
My biggest frustration is the constant distrust of Pluto. I get that he's a foreign agent but he's as much a part of the team as the rest of them. Them freaking out over the ring could have been the straw that made Pluto leave the party. Imagine having saved your friends' lives, taking countless blows for, and beside, them and then being treated like a dirty thief. (When the other two have stolen his loot before. Like when Sebastian took the ring that Pluto found in the sack of meat from the troll ambush). It's just frustrating to see, especially since this is the second time they have confronted him with distrust. Typically it's all great and good dynamics though. And I do understand them being prickly about the Queen, even though he's like 80% right that she's too dangerous.
@@IronEntropyI agree Veo was ready to kill Pluto for some ring (that he earned by tanking the "queen's" blows). She would rather kill her friend than surrender a trinket from a thing that is more monster than person. No way would I step up for those 2 until they show they earn it. Poor Pluto always giving away loot and gold to be treated like that🫤
I have been catching up on this. I've loved every moment and learned a bunch. I have been playing dnd for years, but never able to do much other than DM. I'm learning about how to describe combat especially.
Just started binge watching after finding a lot of your Dungeons and Dragons Guides online! I used to play 2nd Edition and 2.5, so trying to learn/relearn the mechanics of 5e through this story is super fun!
This is such a fun scenario with so many possibilities, you guys are absolutely killing it. I get so invested in the party decisions and lore! I'm trying to get a group together to play for the first time ever and all of this is a huge inspiration, so I wanted to give you guys a huge thanks. Keep up the amazing work! Happy holidays to all of you, can't wait for the next episode in 2019
Wishing a happy holiday season to you guys, both the four of you in the liveplays and the people making it run smoothly! You happen to be the crew who restored my interest in D&D, so I hope you'll keep doing that for many more! The more potential players and DMs out there, the easier it'll be for all of us to have fun like you do!
Fun fact: we spent 10 mins before the episode trying to rig Joe (Pluto) up with Christmas ornaments on his helmet, no matter what we tried they either fell off or were too loud. I assure you, effort was put in.
So I have just started playing D&D (first game was Monday) and I absolutely love your videos. You guys have prepared me so well for my fist encounter as a Druid. I am now de facto healer. I love this stream!!! You guys are so funny and entertaining. Monty, Kelly and Jill keep the laughs coming. Joe is my absolute fav! Like how can you not love him? I know I still have a long way to go but I am grateful that you put this on youtube. Thanks Dungeon Dudes!
Still getting caught up on the show do this comment is a bit late but, i love the show irs quickly becoming my favorite d&d liveplay/podcast. Been listening to it at work and its been a blast. Keep up the good work guys. Been watching you guys since your 3rd or 4th video (i believe) youve come so far 😭
All this arguing about who would get the ring made me think of this: "One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them. " I really love all the banter and the intra-party conflict. It feels like I'm playing Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights 2 haha! You're so good at improvising one liners and jokes on the fly! I'm so glad I found your channel a few weeks ago!
HO YA that was clutch but worked out real good ! I just CAN NOT wait to hear what the quack doc says after those fiew days , but also hope they mention to him that giving her the crystals is not a good idea , gosh such a good episode there were so many things that could have been a mess but turned out quite good ^^ .
Dang, I’ve feel in love with this. I’ve binged this at work and at home, and I’m learning a ton about GMing (and roleplaying) just from watching you guys! I’m really impressed with how Monty keeps all the characters straight, and how he keeps the factions, player narratives, and overarching setting in place with the characters running all around. I’m doubly impressed he can somehow weave a story out of those disparate moments and odd player decisions… like the rat prince, Cora probably seeing Petra’s brother, and the constantly escaping Queen’s Men rest in peace). I’m also very impressed with the players. They’re roleplaying amazingly, and are willing to avoid straight min-maxing to play those characters to the fullest. Like Pluto not always defaulting to lightning, or Veo occasionally running away when she could just pump out attacks. I’ve only met a handful of players who like doing that, and thought I’d never see another to play with, let alone a whole table full. I’m so happy to see you having so much fun together. If anyone ever asks me to point them to a great example of DnD, this is where I’ll send them. Especially since you show how accessories enhance the game, but aren’t the game itself.
Caught up in your new campaign so going back and watching all these. I love it. You guys are by far the most entertaining group I have watched. It would be awesome to have a drakkenheim campaign book to buy.
At this point, I am mostly curious if anyone's gonna die and bring a new character, and at which level they are going to end *this* campaign :) Good stuff!
Pluto says he needs buckets. I instantly think of him leaving the city with every wooden bucket he can find with his arms looped through their rope handles.... and one on his head like a helmet.
Not gonna lie, felt like Pluto got shafted for trying to save his people and then looting like anyone else would. Dude made good points all the way through.
Jill's enjoyment is fun to watch. Joe is too funny! Kelly and his fast talking is a little too wackey, but sooo much fun to see what DM Monty does with it all. This is a very cool production!
"Lets take the Queen with a fragile mental state to a necromancer we hardly know that we know was kicked out his organization because of his questionable actions." Am I missing something here? Honestly, I don't understand.
Not just that. Let's leave her alone here. Especially after he became very interested in her relationship with thr Lillies. They are gonna come back and he is gonna have turned her into a grow lamp.

@@DungeonDudes you see its commitment like that makes you guys such a joy to follow.
Dungeon Dudes clank clank clank clank....
Kelly should have been wearing an elf hat to go with his ears.
Been watching you guys since your 3rd or 4th video (i believe) youve come so far 😭
the begining of this is a reverse of the woman yell at cat meme and im losing it 😂
Wow. Intra-party conflict, royalty, moles, and the list goes on. All I can say is, Monty you are a forgiving DM. ☺
Pluto had the best ideas and kept getting shut down.
Should have left the queen in the garden.
When that failed, should have put her in the suitcase 😂
\o/ so hyped for Monday. Keep up the good fun guys.
All this arguing about who would get the ring made me think of this:
"One ring to rule them all,
one ring to find them,
One ring to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them. "
I really love all the banter and the intra-party conflict.
Veo when confronting queen Lenore- Let me go pluto, and hold ma hoops!
Then later: HAY! You leaf mah Queen alone!
I am finally caught up!! I can't wait to the see the next episode!
Another great episode, Dudes!
The sound was really good this time. Keep up all the goodness!
This episode was so much fun!! Thank You Dungeon Dudes!!
Thank you so much 😊
has been binge watching these like crazy. omg cant wait for the next episode
Like my 7th rewatch of this series. Still the best
1st time going through. See ya at the end.
I am just watching through these now. This series is so funny!
*Title is Killer Queen*
Me: *Knuckles voice* Oh no.
*crazy noisy bizzare town plays in distance*
This is a great story, what a awesome web you have weaved.
What a tense moment on which to end the session! Especially with a holiday break between the crew and their next game night.
A great dm and fun party is hard to beat. Love the group. Wish I could find a group like this..
Caught up in your new campaign so going back and watching all these. I love it. You guys are by far the most entertaining group I have watched. It would be awesome to have a drakkenheim campaign book to buy.
Jill displaying her cat like nature and playing with the end of her christmas hat is so funny to me
Super interested why the queens damage was radiant instead of what I thought of necrotic! Hope I get to find out :)
Enjoyment level 15/10. Excellent roll playing.
Just caught up. So excited to watch the next episode. You guys got me into dnd. Just joined my forst campaign two weeks ago.
Her Royal Highness’ matched luggage!
Take only what you NEED to survive!
I'm glad this is going to continue soon!
Just found this and it’s amazing going to be binge watching both campaigns for sure
1:45:00 - Im surprised nobody said "it's not you, it's me".
1:38:45 Veo finds a cat toy to play with...
Mourning for our lost Lenore
Playing on the Holidays .. Such Gamer Resolve. Its like three days from X-mas
Everything that Kelly is wearing is just so perfect and my gay heart is quaking for our favorite steampunk Christmas elf
Eeeeey! I got the same Christmas sweater as Kelly Crow!
Awesome as always. Happy holydays my dudes.
Dang these are some pretty evil characters, with their constant execution of NPC's...
2:02 I'm screaming give her aqua delirium
Episode 11: Horror at what happened to his knees
At this point, I am mostly curious if anyone's gonna die and bring a new character, and at which level they are going to end *this* campaign :) Good stuff!
Go through slaughter stone square...? Bad veo! Bad kitty!
Love how every one has a Xmas sweater :D
Looking forward the rest of the playlist.
Wooo! Just finished catching up on CR from last night, and just as that finished a new Dungeons of Drakkenheim appears! =D
Pluto says he needs buckets. I instantly think of him leaving the city with every wooden bucket he can find with his arms looped through their rope handles.... and one on his head like a helmet.
At 11:19 Veo starts playing with the ball on her hat in the way that a real cat would ^_^
The colour...it burns...cold and wet, but it burns...
This episode was great
Imagine the look on Pluto's face when Sebastian said "Maybe we should have told them to stay"
"I NEED TO KNOW!"
"You don't want to know."
"I. NEED. TO. KNOW."
"You really, really don't want to know."
"NOW!"
"She's the queen."
"Fuck..."
Not gonna lie, felt like Pluto got shafted for trying to save his people and then looting like anyone else would. Dude made good points all the way through.
i lov Pluto's bad rolls
Today is the day! Drakken-hype
Jill's enjoyment is fun to watch. Joe is too funny! Kelly and his fast talking is a little too wackey, but sooo much fun to see what DM Monty does with it all. This is a very cool production!
Harry Ravenkiller maybe I'm wrong but it seems a 20 strength invites brut force, and a 20 charisma invites fast talking wackiness.
"Lets take the Queen with a fragile mental state to a necromancer we hardly know that we know was kicked out his organization because of his questionable actions."
Am I missing something here? Honestly, I don't understand.
Not just that. Let's leave her alone here. Especially after he became very interested in her relationship with thr Lillies. They are gonna come back and he is gonna have turned her into a grow lamp.
Joe is freakin hilarious.
Around an hour and a half, the halfling had lost her mind.
