    There are different kinds of colorblindness, just the most common is green weak (and usually men). I'll make it short, but we have three types of color receptors in our eyes for different wavelengths. Long (red), medium (green), and short (blue). In *extreme* cases, certain shades of red/green are indistinguishable. It's because you'll end up seeing green as a longer (redder) wavelength. In more minor cases (like mine), greens will look a bit yellower than normal. I have a hard time telling a light green and a dull yellow from each other, and brownish greens are just brown to me. It's also possible for someone to have diminished red or blue receptors, or even all three. Basically, if you're designing a game to be colorblind friendly, just make sure the game can be played with *zero* color saturation.

      FishofMuu yeah, i think it's just the case that a large percentage of boardgame developers simply have no idea how widespread colorblindness is... it's like 1 out of every 10 men, IIRC!!! it was something I definitely had to deal with as a videogame developer all the time... most common example: in a shooter, you want to have text floating over heads represent good guys, and red text represent bad guys (as a take on the stanard red/yellow/green stop light), but of course, if you do that, you fix it so 10% of your audience can't tell friend from foe!!

    the english version of this is on kickstarter now, and one of the stretch goals (already reached) is colorblind friendly iconography.

    Wow, this is a clear case of don't judge a game by the box art...

    Your starting pool of gems is six you discard 2 randomly when you get all 8 at the start.
    At the start every player is dealt 3 character cards from small pile and chose one to keep. Return the others to that small pile and and shuffle the pile.
    Each player is dealt 3 law cards.
    After auction phase you can put into your pyramid only the card that you obtained during auction if you pass or don't want to play it you discard it and get 3 gems.
    Rounds of play:
    1) Law round you can play one card from hand for free (ignoring the costs)
    2) Auction Phase
    3) Play Cards you obtained during auction.

      Sorry i see that English rules are a bit different. You did everything good just the starting pool of gems is the way i wrote. "Take two colors of each and then randomly put 2 back into the pile so you start with 6 total" "And you still deal 3 law cards at the start of the game each"
      Nice review.

    Not only Red/Green but also Green/Yellow. I do wish designers would work around colourblindness, it's the single most common sight disability in the world. It is also fairly easy to design around with plenty of tools to help if you can't get colourblind play testers.

      i didn't know about green/yellow! yeah, that's why you just need to put symbols as well (like Ticket to Ride). Of course players can do this themselves with a sharpee pen, but it would be nicer for the publisher to do it.
      I expect that if I was color blind, half of my games would have little +'s and o's and ^'s scrawled all over them by my own hand! :)

      ***** I've had to take a permanent marker to a few games. Really don't like doing it, and some games like Race For The Galaxy aren't fixable. I do wish more games makers would use symbols though; I mean I can play Colouretto so if that game can be made colourblind friendly then *any* game can...

      It looks like the American release by mayday games fixes some of the problems with colorblind ness for the gem colors. They added different numbers of segments around the gems, this version doesn't look like it has them

      Endorya Badler and yet designers can avoid any issues quite easily but they don't. I think they go for what colours are 'cool' or look nice.

    Any idea when this is releasing in the US? I thought about pre-ordering, but I can't find any evidence of an expected release date.

      @rahdo  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      nope. there was a kickstarter for a US distirbution a few weeks ago... i think it's over now but you could still go check the kickstarter page for it and maybe there's more info?

      I did some sleuthing on their Facebook page, and they list a "hopeful" March/April 2015 release!

    I feel like in a 2 player game you could deduce how many of a color a player has, is this a problem or part of the game?

    • @rahdo
      @rahdo  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      thePbHammer that's true for a lot of auction games. i reckon it could be an issue, but Jen and I just have an agreement that we'll not "count chips". still, since the game encourages players to discuss how they're going to bid before they do, i suppose it's not the end of the world if you play with open info/not hiding your cash
