And when the starter loss it's traditional Honda sound. Every 4 and 6 cylinder Honda starter noise sounded the same. If you heard a '95 Acura Legend start, you would swear you heard a Honda Accord start up.😊
@@Newussd227 I just got to hear the chime as I started my wife's 07 Pilot today. Got me 32 miles to work safely in a blizzard when Jeeps and 4wd trucks are all over in ditches 😆
My wife still takes the kids to school every day in our 07 Pilot. Just drove 100 miles in this blizzard today no problems at all when my corolla and mustang wouldn't go anywhere. 270k now still the original engine and trans- never cracked open except for a timing belt or two. Truly one of the best cars I've ever had and gets my family of 8 around in any weather.
@Akhenatonio Was just under there the other day. Thankfully nothing yet except under the bumper. Going to check very carefully now that you mentioned it because that is definitely a valid concern considering my rear passenger wheel well looks like it's going to start bubbling soon 😑. Can't complain though- even if it only lasts another year I've gotten my money's worth out of it 3 times over now!
I drive the 2007 Honda crv, rarely has an auto marker made a vehicle so excellent and reliable. It’s 18 years old. Lives outside in Canada. 🍁 it’s just sooo good. It’s unbelievably durable. Think I’m going to drive it forever. It just keeps going.
The Honda showrooms were paradise at that time. Some of those Hondas have a timeless design and in fact look nicer than some of the current vehicles on the road
I’ve owned a 2005 Honda Pilot (loved it minus the transmission clunk issue), still own an ‘04 AP2 and had an ‘04 Honda Accord. Every time I get behind the S2000 it reminds me of the glory days of Honda.
Just sold my 2007 Honda Fit. It had 517,000 miles on it. 2 water pumps, serpentine belt, valve cover gasket one time, never did a valve adjustment, 4 sets of brakes, 4 sets of tires, an alternator and starter. Paint started to fade on the top. That car ran like a champ. Super reliable. The ignition cylinder switch/lock went out it and I said to myself..."I ain't puttin' no mo' money into that car." It was a good car, I kept it for 11 years. Definitely looking now for a 2010-2012 Honda Fit to replace it. Honda Fits are also good cars to hotbox in too. Make sure it has tinted windows though. 🍃💨⛽️🚬
@@BernonCars I scored big last year. I bought a 2000 Acura 3.5RL. Black on black with 72k miles. One owner car from New Mexico. I love that car but it's too nice. I keep it in the garage along side my 2024 Corolla Hybrid XLE. But I need another Honda Fit in my life. I have been taking care of my lil 16 year old cousin. He has his license now. My Acura and Toyota too nice for a teen to drive. So yea, I definitely need another Honda Fit.
@SamslamminCars I use OEM parts and the Honda Fit is fully mechanical. Less parts to break. Of course i did lower control arms, 2 batteries and sway bar end links and a few light bulbs. Hondas and Toyotas don't require much repairs when you baby them and dont dog them out.
2007 was the end of peak Honda. The V6 hybrid was genius and with today's tech, there's no reason it can't be used to make a 320hp V6 Accord that's still gentle on gas on the highway.
In my part of the world, Hondas before 2008 are why people generally prefer Toyotas. Mainly suspension issues and transmission failures. The affected models were the Accord, Pilot and Odyssey.
All Honda/Acura v6 hybrids share same engine family/code with the NSX… JN**, & therefore were precursor hybrid technology to the NSX. I’ve owned 2 accord v6 hybrids… they are the absolute best Hondas I’ve ever owned! Also the accord v6 hybrid was assembled in Japan. Looking to buy clarity phev touring next.
I had an 01 stick shift accord in high school, and now I have a 13 stick shift accord coupe. I love both of these cars, and it is a shame I won’t be able to keep up with my stick shift accord tradition for much longer
Great video! I own a ‘09 civic coupe ex, they really are great little cars. It’s nowhere near the fastest car on the road but what it lacks in speed it makes up for in character!
I just bought a 2011 Honda Accord Euro CU2 (Japan and European version) with only 90,670 miles on it, fully serviced and not a single problem in its life, my mechanic friend praised me for owning one.
We still have our since-new 2007 Element going strong at 195000 miles. Unique and awesome car. Honda has missed a big opportunity by not re-introducing it in some form.
1:58 2007 recession had a big part in that. That was also when gas prices started going out of control. And in 2009 we had the cash for clunkers program, which artificially drove up demand for new cars.
I love my 2006 Honda Pilot EX-L. It's my first car I got it at 16. I am 22 now and still have it as a daily driver. 160k on her. Some small issues but gets me around safely every day. It is heavily modified too :).
I currently have the 2006 1.8 L Honda Civic LX. It is the best car I’ve ever owned. I’ve had no factory problems. It doesn’t leak oil. I have 228,000 miles and it runs like it’s brand new. Best car I’ve ever driven super comfortable super responsive 11 out of 10 in my opinion.
Had a 2004 Accord EX-L with a 5sp manual. Loved that thing. Only problem I had was the brake rotors warping, otherwise it was rock solid. Kept it for 9 years and put 140K miles on it.
The 8th gen civic is sooo goated. The interior hasn't aged a second and its super reliable especially the manual. In Canada, you still see one every so minutes on the road from Nova-scotia to BC.
07 Pilot here. 160k miles and has never, EVER had an issue or warning light. Still purrs like a kitten. No major repairs outside of routine maintenance. Even in salty Michigan the undercarriage is still rust free.
2006/2007 was the period when Honda’s transmission problems from 1999 to 2004 were virtually gone. Accords and Odysseys had issues but by the 2006/2007 mark they tremendously improved.
My family owns a 2007 Pilot bought it brand it I think it has roughly 170K miles on it. It’s Black Cherry Pearl with this baseball glove color interior.
This video has me thinking about what the peak years were for different manufacturers. Or which years were the most defining. Thinking of Lexus, it's gotta be around 2004 in my mind.
Great point. I’d agree on mid 2000’s. You had the coming of age of their truck and SUV dominance. The bulletproof, Tacoma, the 100 series Land Cruiser 4th Gen 4Runner (my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned), Sequoia and Tundra. All just super solid and bulletproof and still desirable on the used market today.
As an 07 Accord owner, I really loved the video!! A couple notes: The Fit was the Jazz in most markets, but in Japan it also carries the Fit nameplate. Also, all 4cyl accords in 07 could be spec’d with a 5-speed stick, and also ran a K24a8, not a4 (I think, anyhow)
I honestly love all eras of Honda and this one is no different, but I will admit this wasn't necessarily peak Honda. A lot of Hondas from this era have very poor paint quality that Is in very bad shape today. Nearly all of the V6 cars had transmission issues and a lot of the v6s were using the first iteration of VCM which causes a lot of reliability problems, and of course The infamous Takata airbags that were putting everyone in danger. Still though I absolutely love the Fit, Element SC and TL type s from this era.
My mom had a 2007 Honda Accord Se formerly the Ex best car she ever had, however when me and my family came to Florida it wore out including the Ac afterwhile so she got rid of it, sadly got a crappy 2016 Nissan Sentra that replaced it, she hated it, then got a 2020 Honda Civic Lx until her health got bad, that Civic was a good generation and year surprisingly as well even with a Cvt transmission, and secondly my dad a 2011 Honda CRV it ran good as well but lord it had a lot of troubleshooting issues with codes though, so he got a 2024 Honda HRV and it runs great with no issues, and sadly it has one recall on it which sucks, I had a 2015 Honda Civic Lx same as my mom’s former Civic it ran great only replaced the battery, oil change, and tires, windshield wipers, wheel covers, then myself sadly wrecked it by accident, so now I have a 2014 Hyundai Elantra, I know Kia and Hyundai aren’t exactly Honda excellent in some cases but they are hit or miss still, but fun fact my friend Dominic has a 2009 Hyundai Sonata it runs like brand new as well, but here’s the fun part the back end of the Sonata looks like the 2007 Honda Accord because the taillights are almost the same design just like Ford F150 and Chevy Silverado from certain years have the same style on the taillights and tailgate as well! 👍🏻
If only you were there in 1999 for peak Honda. S2000 came out, nsx still available, prelude still there, and civic ek still available.
Proper driving cars!
also itr is honda if we are talking about 99 s2k since that was jdm only
Honda was at its peak in 1990's and 2000's. Miss the days of the V6 J35 Honda accord, prelude, Fit, Civic EK/FA, S2000, NSX.
Absolutely, it's sad some of these are getting harder and harder to find now too
Good job , Bern! Thank you for keeping these Hondas alive.
I appreciate the support my friend!
Currently own a 2008 Honda Civic LX coupe with the 5 speed. Love the simple yet attractive interior and the timeless design of the exterior.
That’s a great one! They are so well built!
When the beep ignition chime left Honda cars, that’s when their reliability should be questioned. IMHO
