- Join me for a test ride of the 2019 Kawasaki Z900RS Cafe! Stacked with charisma and oozing character, this full-retro cafe racer from Kawasaki is propelled by a howling four-cylinder that burbles and coughs its way to the redline. A joy to ride with 109bhp at the wrist and a smooth user-friendly feel that makes you want to ride it faster for longer.
Thank you for joining me on this test ride today of the Kawasaki Z900RS Cafe. Subscribe to see future motorcycle test rides!

Nice review & video. Enjoyed the scenery and roads. It highlights one thing these bikes do well that isn't advertised, they go slow very well. Cruising in town, or in a traffic jam, it works well and the soft clutch pull is a dream. The same cannot be said of many bikes out there. I have ~1500 miles on my '22 Black & Silver Cafe', and just did a 2 hour ride (in the seat the whole time) without too much complaining from the seat of my pants. Here in Texas, much of the riding involves some 70mph+ Interstate action, and the Cafe' fairing does a great job of making that very comfortable too. Up to about 80mph, the ride is very relaxed. Speeds over 100mph are very doable for long periods of time. On my last 80 mile ride, I netted an average of 53mpg, which is also very impressive.
I love all the uhhhh and ahhhhh sound effects! Hahaha.I just bought a 2018 trade in with 2k miles on it, It comes with a full custom exhaust and power commander & a 2 year warranty, Cost me 8k. Can't wait to pick it up this week.
I was that leather wearing bad ass cop with a moustache so can’t wait to collect my 2020 cafe version next week 👮🏽♂️👍
Sounds amazing bud. That bike was a joy to ride 🏍⚡️
I have a 2020 RS Cafe and I really like it. I put 20mm bar risers on it and it made it more comfortable for me personally. Other than that, it's stock with the exception of some frame sliders and foam hand grip covers. And I'm leaving it that way. I see no reason to change anything else. There's nothing like an inline 4-cylinder.
I put Rizoma risers on mine. Love it.
Is the cabling enough and ok once you add 20 cm? Or did you have to get longer cables?
Love that induction sound.
absolutely the best z900rs cafe review on the tube... great work sir
That’s very gracious of you to say, Kevin. Thank you! 🏍💨
Great video!!!! Best one out there on the Z900rs Cafe!!!
Thank you very much!
WTF???
Cool vid! I'm wang for my pre reg 2019 to arrive. Had a go on the naked jaffa & decided to go for the cafe style ;)
The cafe is the better bike for sure ;) Enjoy your new ride!
WTF???
@@callefalk4457 Typo mate! It should have said "waiting" ;)
Nice rev! Good sound and autentic to, i know I own one 🤙🏼👌🏼
The best all around bike u can buy 🌟🏝️⚡
I am applying for one! hope i get it!! Great Vid thanks!
Ahh great news Paul, it’s a stunning bike. Which colour will you be going for!?
Great review of a lovely bike.
Hey thanks Stizzy! Thanks for taking the time to watch 🏍⚡️
Really beautiful bike!
Very nice beautiful bike
Similar to my 75zi900 kerker 4-1 with rear set's, clip on's or drag bars and the same headlight bubble....from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠🇺🇸p.s stay safe everything you said was said about the z1 in 73
Hi, very nice video, thanks for upload it.
Do you know if the RS have retro iluminated controls in the stering?
You're welcome! I think the dash does have illumated displays, but not on the button controls.
What is this color called? And what year?
Just got myself a cracking deal on a Green one, because its 2019 colour's! Who cares about that? Just need some weather now . Nice review .
Did you get it from Laguna ?
any thoughts on center middle rear crash protection? i have everything else, but worried about shift linkage protection, was always the vulnerable spot on kawasaki
This bike is just such a good looking bike. Only thing i dont get is the white shock, that just ruins everything. They should have made it black to blend in better
so much intuition great review thx
Thank you, and you’re welcome buddy 🙂🏍⚡️
TURD!!!
You're right when you say Tom Cruise should have ridden this. The H2R is more Battlestar Galactica ;-)
It's been over a decade since I was tempted by a new bike but the RS Cafe is a real temptation.
I think so too! The new colour scheme for 2020 looks smarter as well.
rs cafe vs speed twin 1200 ?
Definitely the best most through review on the Z900RS Cafe! Love the retro appeal of this bike!
I'm looking currently considering the Z900RS Cafe, Yamaha RSX900, Triumph Thruxton RS or Speed Triple R, and the KTM Duke 890R. Looking for something nimble to flick through the canyons of Colorado. Thoughts?
Hmm out of that list Casper... the flickable canyon bike would maybe be the KTM 890. Super light. Agile. However... the Cafe looks amazing and has a nice grounded weight to it. I couldn't get over just how easy it felt to ride and the engine sound... that'll create some echos riding through the canyons for sure. I'd wait to see about the XSR900 as they will update that soon!
@@EddieSetGo Cool beans! Thanks!
My local dealer is in Grantham.. looking to trade in my z1000sx. Need a test ride first, but the weather has gone tits up now.
Chris Walkers Kawasaki? Top dealer! My dad just bought his new Z900RS from there :)
@@EddieSetGo Only had my Z1kSX since April, but am already thinking I should have gone with the Cafe.
Nice bike, what jacket you wearing there
Would u say its as fun to ride as the z1000? The 19 colours look the best, not sure what changes they did for the cafe in 2020.
I'd say it's 'easier' to ride Matt, so yes, more fun. The Z1000 is quite a focused bike and I get achey wrists on it after a while. The Z900RS... standard or Cafe... are both so easy to ride, enjoy and go fast on. Plus they sound so much better than the Z1000 in my opinion! The bike for 2020 is pretty much exactly the same, just new colours. Whether Kawasaki do a Euro5 update for it, which usually comes with a few visual updates, we'll have to wait and see.
@@EddieSetGo I have the Z1000SX tourer model. So thats what I would be looking to swap in. I love the 19 colours in the Cafe, however if I had to settle I'd take the Green.
It's the Grey/Green for me... stunning bike all round!
Can you say how the wind protection is, compared to maybe a regular naked and a (sports) tourer?
Hey Nolan, it was a very stable ride with a moderate amount of wind buffeting. You feel the wind on your thighs most, like with a naked, but your upper body is surprisingly protected from the fairing. I felt more protected on this, than on my Yamaha Tracer. I hope this helps!
I'm 6ft~ tall. Sitting normally wind force to the head is minimal up 70-80mph. At that speed I duck my head and shoulders a bit- half tucked position. I wear a full facehelmet.
Does it feel as twitchy and insane as the mt09?
Not at all. If anything, it feels more planted and has a good weight to it! A much more settled and softer ride than the MT.
2021 model year is Grey in 'Merca. I will order it in Feb for Spring delivery. My 2nd inline 4. First one was a Honda in the early/mid eighties. Why does pops insist on flirting with the center white line? He should not be that trusting of peeps coming at him. Peeps suck.
Great to hear you're getting an RS Cafe, Stanley! Yeah my Dad, and even I when I'm on my own, like to ride closer to the middle of both lanes. I find oncoming traffic can see me better and that part of the road has less debris as car tyres roll over it. If a big rig, or, a bend is approaching, I'll move over to better position. Do you ride center?
@@EddieSetGo Center or Left a tad. I don 't trust peeps.
nice review !
Hey thanks buddy! 🏍⚡️
WTF???
0 to 100 in 6 seconds is fast enough for me. Only 1 second slower then the 14 which is the fastest bike in the world
what jacket are you wearing?
A Richa Daytona jacket 🙂 Link here: www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/220167
39mins and i never saw any twisties!
That's a shame Mark, I did hit some nice corners and twists through the Lincolnshire countryside!? It was a joy to ride!
@@EddieSetGo should have turned right off A1 and gone Melton Mowbray rd, awesome twisties there!
Great tip Mark! I'll remember that next time I'm down in Grantham!
It's like their made out of titaumn you can run all day in 120° and run fast does not over heat like a hog 🧝🌟⚡🏝️
Please leave the false moniker of "bad ass" to HD pirate wannabe's. Nothing about them is BAD ASS! I say let them be false.
BAD ASS is Chuck Norris or Jet Lee and similar. The H2supercharged could be considered the mechanical equivalent of a bad ass human however. Better words than BAD ASS are reserved for the Z900RS. Like lessons learned from 40 years of improvement etc ad-astra!!! There is nothing about the Zed9 that is false!!! good review thanks!
Boring test...
I'm sorry you found it boring, Alexandre. What would you like to see? At the time I was still new to making bike videos, so yes, it could be more interesting. Thank you for your comment anyway.
