  • President Obama reminds the American people that all citizens of the U.S. are descended from immigrants.
    Watch the full speech here:
    • President Obama Speaks...
"Immigration's always been an issue that inflames passions. That's not surprising. There are a few things that are more important to us as a society than who gets to come here and call our country home. Who gets the privilege of becoming a citizen of the United States of America. That's a big deal. When we talk about that in the abstract, it is easy sometimes for the discussion to take on a feeling of us versus them. And when that happens, a lot of folks forget that most of us used to be them. We forget that. And it's really important for us to remember history. Unless you're one of the first Americans, a Native American, you came from some place else, somebody brought you. The Irish who left behind a land of famine; the Germans who fled persecution; the Scandinavians who arrived eager to pioneer out west; the Polish, the Russians, the Italians, the Chinese, the Japanese, the West Indians -- the huddled masses who came through Ellis Island on one coast and Angel Island on the other. All those folks before they were us, they were them. And when each new wave of immigrants arrived, they faced resistance from those who were already here. They faced hardship. They faced racism. They faced ridicule. But over time, they went about their daily lives. They earned a living as they raised a family, as they built a community, as their kids went to school here. They did their part to build the nation. They were the Einsteins and the Carnegies, but they were also the millions of women and men whose names history may not remember, but whose actions helped make us who we are, who built this country hand by hand, brick by brick. They all came here knowing that what makes somebody an American is not just blood or birth, but allegiance to our founding principles and the faith in the idea that anyone from anywhere can write the next great chapter of our story, and that's still true today."

It’s interesting cause when the Europeans came it wasn’t by some legitimate means that they ended up in the US, and they most certainly did not ask the permission of the natives b4 killing all of the Native Americans of the North

What happened and has happened here over the last few hundred years is the exact thing that has happened everywhere else on the planet since the dawn of humanity. The natives managed to escpe all of the land wars for thousands of years because the ice bridge on the bering straight melted and left them stranded here. Our entire species originated in the ancient mesopotamian area. Every single one of us. Thr natives got away. And thousands of years later , the rest of the world caught up to them, and did to them what they have been doing to everyone else on the planet for thousands of years. It was nothing new. apparently in your mind, makes it okay to steal our identity and heritage, at the expense of an entire race numbered 20+ million. Or at least you are implying we deserved it. If we looked at the track record of the "other" continent, its filled with plenty of hate, warmongering and outright killing, but it brought a lot of good too. Renaissance Era for example. Much like the whites (just names for references, dont get offended), The Native Americans supported Matriarchy, which was never seen at the time of white colonialism. @@fargopcguy with our current understanding of history. Yes that could be the case. However the central dogma is that theory. There is good evidence and knowledge that backs that up too. However if you go deeper there are artifacts and signs of human activity well before the land bridge theory. For instance my tribe has a creation story where we came out of the ground at a sacred site known as Nanih Waiya (Mother Mound in Choctaw) in Mississippi. Take it as you will but I believe and many others too that we were actually from this land to begin with. I forget the term but in science it’s when two different species evolve exactly the same even though they have had no contact with each other. That could be the case why we are so similar 🤷‍♂️ We could have come from Asia, or we could’ve come from some other form of travel maybe by boat. The USA has its own laws and immigration policies. There are steps in which people can take to become a us citizen. Go through the paperwork and necessary procedures to become a US citizen. The USA has already got 40 million Mexican in the USA (that 1/3 of the entire Mexican population)
