As someone who sunburns easily, a loose fitted button down shirt is a great staple that keep the sun off my arms and the air flowing over my torso.

Absolutely. I am light skinned, for a Mexican. I worked in all weather in my early years, and had to have birth marks removed because of exposed forearms, wiping sweat off my face with my arm..The sun was not that bad in California, and it still caused damage. Yet, Coastal folks 'take it all off' at the sight of sunshine. Try that here in S.E. Arizona....

Undershirt is very helpful to absorb the sweat. If it is realty hot (and humid), you will still get sweaty despite of how breathable you think your outfit is. Better to have something thats absorbs the sweat to avoid sweat stains at the shirt.

Agree. San Antonio gets HOT and nothing is worse than perspiration showing in the armpits of a dress shirt.

I live in Southern AZ and the heat here is brutal. 110-115 is usually the norm and it does get even higher than that at times. It's hard not to slip into the shorts and t-shirt combo all the time. After watching your videos for a little while now, I've been trying to update my style. A hat is almost an absolute necessity so I went with an upgrade in that department. Stetson royal flush in straw. Something different from the typical hats seen around here

I'm from Georgia where going outside during the summer is equal to walking inside an oven. I often where an undershirt for a lot of my button ups. I find the undershirt absorbs the sweat, protecting my shirts. If the undershirt is cotton I find it really doesn't add any extra heat.

  • @nickporter9264

I stopped wearing undershirts about eight years ago and I always felt cooler and sweated way less than when I did. Plus it allows more air to flow through my shirt and cool me off. The one exception is when wearing a white dress shirt and I know I’ll be taking the jacket off at some point.

For me, the only exception for wearing an undershirt is wintertime, when I'll wear a long-sleeved three-button Henley underneath a thick flannel, and (depending on how cold it is) with some sort of pea coat or dress coat on top of all that

    • @jizzyg1559
      @jizzyg1559 ปีที่แล้ว +3

And in my case, an undershirt is a must. I don't really see a difference in sweating with or without, but when i'm wearing undershirt at list i don't get sweat stains on my shirts

With linen shirts, I probably won't wear an undershirt. I want that airy weave to keep me cool. I don't get the no show socks look. I don't want to be looking at a man's bare ankles. My style icons wore socks!

Video Idea: Mens Fashion for Wet/Rainy Weather. Here in the South East US, we have had a lot of summer showers. It made it difficult for me to dress business casual because it severely limited a lot of the items I usually wear. like leather dress shoes/boots, suede shoes etc. It's too hot for a peacoat or similar overcoat etc.

I used to wear crew neck undershirts year round. I always had one poking out of the Polo or shirt I was wearing. A couple of years ago I stopped. They add unnecessary bulk to your look and here in the South, unnecessary heat for at least half the year.

My problem wit no show socks is that often an edge on the shoe will irritate the skin when there is no sock there. I will also say that I just don't like the look, especially with long pants, as it just looks like the person forgot his socks.

Yesterday in part of the world it was 52c in my town and to be honest nothing would keep you cool. My only advice is to size up for summer and normally I wear t shirts but when the sun is hot I go for short sleeve shirts. You can unbutton as many had you want to get some air to flow and linen shirts slightly creased look cool as, in my book anyway. My only other advice is if your out for the day take another set of clothes to change into. There is no point fighting the heat just go with it, great video as always .............................. no where is the air con remote

I know it goes against the old rule of Fit Is King, but instead of "not saying you should wear baggy clothes..." how about some advice on how to wear items that maybe ARE a little bit bigger. Maybe something that isn't all the way off of a perfect fit, or clothes that are designed to be a bit roomier, even when you're wearing a size that's true-to-fit.

Thanks for this! I really had no idea about different fabrics and stuff. I saw one of your videos about linen a couple months ago, so I bought a linen suit to wear when I went to Bermuda. Since last autumn I've started to dress more like the man I know myself to be. This is the first summer with my new style. Since I'm still slowly buying the right clothes, I don´t have anything for the summer yet. When It's pretty warm outside I still wear a dress shirt with undershirt with trousers.
When it is 'Hot AF' outside, like today, I'm forced to 'downgrade' to some of my old clothes that are a few sizes too big now. It feels kind of wrong, even though it is the type of clothes I've been wearing for all of my life. Not wearing an undershirt feels wrong nowadays. I do, hower wear sleeveless shirts on those days. Partly because the ones I have are closest to my size. Even though my 'guns' are small pistols at the moment, I'm training to upgrade them to high caliber magnums. That, and I don't give a damn. It's 'Hot AF' outside.

My doctor once mentioned that she's seeing a lot more skin cancer on the ears of men, because men either wear baseball/trucker caps or no headwear at all when in the sun. Women have longer hair on average, so are not as affected. She emphasized the need to wear a brimmed hat, not a cap, in summer sunshine.

I’m on team always wear an undershirt, even in extreme heat. (I usually wear the lightweight tank top
Style). However, the reason I do this is I have skin sensitivity issues and if something (such as a belt) touches/ rubs on my skin, it causes red rash/ irritation that can take days to clear up, it’s made worse with sweat. Even the thin barrier of the undershirt prevents this. Combined with the fact I’m law enforcement so I always carrying around extra gear in my waistband….. yeah the undershirt is a necessity for me.

S.E. Arizona heat is at 110° F. It is TOO hot to be under the sun. I normally wear a long sleeve, or a t-shirt with an open long sleeve over shirt. This really helps airflow....Even hot air helps sweat to vaporise. I avoid bare skin under any warm sunshine. Cowboy hat works great to keep the brain temp below boiling point. At least a ball cap. Cowboy boots always, unless my 61 yr old body says "wear tennis". Ball cap only, then. Notes: I am of Mexican cowboy lineage. In California,I got zero respect if I wore my cowboy hat. I just looked like a field worker to folks. Didn't matter that my hat was premium.beaver. Cartel dudes sort'a ruined alot for that look. Only if going to a Mex dance- night club did I fit in. But I moved to Arizona, and ANYTHING goes, here. Cowboy, stoner, rocker, ect. Its your confidence that carries you here. And alot of women go nuts over the cowboy look. They do not care if theres no cow chett under your boots.

With dark colors, I don't wear an undershirt unless it's a dress shirt. There is a lot wrong with a with a baseball cap. Firstly, they are not stylish. They are children's wear (unless you're on the field with your team). Secondly, they advertise that you are just trying to hide the fact that you're going bald and that's kind of pathetic. Thirdly, if you aren't going bald, everyone assumes you are. Fourthly there's a high probability that a grown man wearing a baseball cap is a douche.
