imagine being bipolar in a manic state, expessing that you need help because you dont have access to medication. Witness 4 people get shot, an altercation that you just intervened on in defense of a young lady. Then someone pull a gun on YOU an hour later. You disarm him and the gun go off. - all while being bipolar and in a manic state of mine. - meanwhile you gave this interview an hour prior to being a hi jacker. Crazy world! RIP, Bad situation to all involved.

@@umwahtexactly....but apparently dead victims don't matter to people who care more about criminals. The guy has a probation officer and already said he CAN NOT own guns, which is probably due to being a convicted felon. People are saying the gun went off bc this guy was trying to take it after the dead guy pulled it out on the bus .... not sure if that's true, but if it is, would this guy be charged with hijacking a bus & murder? I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. But just bc you have mental illness, doesn't mean you're a criminal, but I also doesn't mean you're excused from responsibility if you commit crimes. It's wild that people think that a mental illness diagnosis automatically excuses you from responsibility. I know many people who were diagnosed bipolar, went off their meds and didn't commit crimes.

And this is why I get so annoyed when people just throw psychological terms and disorders around as part of daily vernacular. "I woke up and I was super awake and happy but Starbucks was out of my drink and I'm so sad. I'm so bipolar!" There's a difference between normal shifting of moods throughout a day or period of time and bipolar disorders. Manic/mania isn't a cool term to describe when you're feeling hyped up. Those with knowledge of mental health disorders would know he was a waving major red flag.
If someone says they're short of breath and their left arm is hurting, we know to get them medical attention ASAP. This was the same thing. I don't know how or if the population as a whole can become educated on mental health disorders but children in schools need to be taught. That's the oney way the stigmatism will lessen and people will be able to get help without fear of recourse.

Such irresponsible reporting by 11 Alive. This man flat out admitted he was in the midst of a mental health crisis, is admittedly showing signs of a manic episode and a cry for help, said something bad could happen because hes so high strung and they just continue to move on to the next question and send him off into the street. What the actual fuck.
