    I was using an online software called Sketchup and for some reason when I would download the file and upload it on Cura, it kept saying that the model had holes in it, and some of the cylinders in the model were completely eradicated when I sliced and viewed the preview. 3D Builder is Microsoft's magnum opus haha, I dunno how they managed to make such a good program. Great video!
    My theory for why presupported models often display errors is that adding supports in a way is 3D modelling, and with the amount of adjustable parameters involved its possible the slicers aren't capable of creating perfectly manifold supports every single time.

    I have printed a ton of files that the slicers say need repair. In fact Lychee also seems to export the STL as a broken file about 50% of the time (not real errors, just the slicer being dumb). They never fail and I have never had issues. Interesting take though, have seen some folks using 3D builder to fix major errors. For the most part, unless I see a slicing issue, or actual missing polys or pixels I will just print it. Interesting to say the least, I may include this in my workflow for future projects.

    • @SlicePrintRoleplay
      @SlicePrintRoleplay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally agree, there are some models that a slicer will day has issues but they'll print fine. In my experience, I've never had a bad experience from repairing a model. So if the slicer identifies errors I'll typically repair the model without looking too far into what the errors are. However, sometimes (like with the model in the video) it's easy to see the errors.

    • @SlicePrintRoleplay
      @SlicePrintRoleplay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      #1, yep I'm most slicers you can still print a model even if the slicers identities errors.
      #2, I've not encountered that myself. It could be a glitch. It could also be something that 3D Builder has to do in order to repair the model correctly. If you make a note of the Z height before you repair then you should easily be able to rescale/resize the model back to that size once the repair process is done.

    Can someone tell me what a .obj, .3ma, or 2d file formats for 3d is used for??

    • @SlicePrintRoleplay
      @SlicePrintRoleplay  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Gladly!
      .obj, basic format for a 3D file. Most 3D modeling softwares can/will export this type of file. It can contain a large amount of data so models are normally left in the this format until all edits have been made and the file is finished.
      Some slicers can read this and some can't. It's best to import it into Meshmixer, Microsoft 3D Builder, etc. Then export it as an STL for use in your slicer.
      .3ma looks to be a proprietary file format that belongs to a specific modeling software. Not sure which software though. This unfortunately most likely means a file in this format cannot be converted without access to that software that created it. 😞
      Not sure what you mean by "2D file formats." do you mean like a .svg file? Those are kinda 2d, but can still be used by 3D printing software once they are extruded (made thicker).
