I don't seek my neighbors out But I am very friendly....And it has saved me a few times carrying heavy stuff ECT ... I try to always be kind to everyone and never judge no one ....Never know what someone else is going threw ...
I feel the same way about being a social butterfly. I don't care for it. I have been criticized for being a "lone wolf" and told as a kid to change - but that was like telling me not to be me. I like socializing occasionally but not on a regular basis or have drop ins when you had other plans to do something else..
Myself and my husband are exactly the same way.We been in the same place for , almost 30yrs no one has been in our home except superintendent but we have neighbor who knocked to borrow some items or another l simply say no l never start that at all with a stern voice.

I live in an apartment complex like you because I have cerebral palsy I'm the same way I don't like people bothering me some people overstay there welcome. But I do need to make a friend or two it's just hard

I lived on a secluded off the grid homestead for close to twenty years before moving to this apartment in 2018. My apartment is in a senior living building so I have made 3 good friends here. I am an introvert for the most part but have to admit that I enjoy my new friends.
Yeps Glenda just moved out of my apt building. The neighbors would just pound and pound on my door. And if I did not answer they would gather outside and start talking like maybe something was wrong in my apt, then pound some more. So I started answeri g and would talk pleasantly and then close the door. They would get furious and then I had an enemy. So I just moved out. It never stopped. And this is supposed to be a fancy high class little town. Not true. I am older now. I did my living with friends always runnibg here and there. They say familiarity breeds contempt. Sadly, I have found that to be true. I moved to my current home 21 years ago and became "neighbors" with the family next door. What a mistake. She was a terrible gossip and self-appointed neighborhood watch. She has lied about our family so much so that other neighbors have shunned us, but I really didn't care to be friends with the whole neighborhood, just cordial. Some can't even muster up a "Hello". So be it. We that the NIMBY approach (Not In My Back Yard). You stay on your side of the fence and leave us to our own. God Bless you Glenda.
Me too! I work part-time....usually 3, sometimes 4 days a week. On my days off--I like to chill out. Which means I sleep in a little later, and when I get up, if I'm not going anywhere--I'm in no hurry to get dressed. So if somebody knocks on my door--uninvited--they're out of luck.
Sorry to hear you mock individuals with speech disabilities Glenda. I’ve been a long time subscriber and it hurt my heart and made me cringe when you pretended to talk like your old neighbor. I’m sure it’s no fun for her either. I know you don’t like being bullied and ridiculed so I am very sad to see you do that to others. Speech disabilities are no fun.
My old neighbor DID NOT have a speech impediment. She was wearing braces & back in the 80's the braces were thick metal with little rubber bands on them. I do not mock anyone with a disability. My father had polio as an infant & was crippled as a result of it. I learned as a child to love & accept everyone regardless of their disability, race, gender, religious affiliation or sexual orientation.

You used tunnel vision to arrive there and assumed the worst of a person, I would be a little upset too if you missed the mark so inefficiently about me. Strange you should emphasize the small fraction of the video where she describes her former neighbors, the ones that came over constantly to borrow things and you miss that she still gave them what they needed as she lived there and tolerated their mischief for years. Would you be as patient on the outside? She was showing us why it was so hard to understand that woman and the man, that’s part of storytelling, it doesn’t come close to mocking someone with speech disabilities. But if you hope for the negative, you will find it. You are a long time subscriber, you should know her motives. Mark Twain described peoples’ speech all the time in his books to give audiences a picture of the characters in his books. Her channel, among other things is a story telling channel. You also missed that she was on her way to help someone/family and the prayer requests for several people later in the video, but choose to highlight pretending Glenda was mocking them and bullying them? How do you bully someone who isnt around? This was an especially entertaining video making ordinary daily jobs interesting and reminiscences creative and descriptive. She has a talent for making the mundane interesting and come alive.

When it comes to making friends these days, you have to be careful who you choose to bring into your life. When people show you who they are, believe them. Friends can be wonderful assets to have, but to make a friend, you must be a friendly person first and then see if it turns into a friendship. It is a process. It is had to have neighbors that come in unannounced for visit, most the time I'm okay with a very short visit, but their are a few people that just doesn't know when to go home...LOL...I heard about a couple that had people over one night for the evening, they just didn't know when to leave, finally the hubby said, wife we better go to bed where our friends can go home...haha!

About the thing you are talking about creators not looking in the camera you really shouldn't be doing that at all when you're driving it is distracted driving and most of the TH-cam channels and creators that I watch if they're driving they will say I'm sorry I can't read the chat I'm driving. You just have to really be careful because it still is a form of distracted driving you're taking your eyes off the road even for that split second we all know what can happen so just be careful and be safe!
Best policy is not to get cozy with your neighbors. Keep them out of your business. My neighbors, of which 2 have been evicted. Wish it could be better, but not wise to fool with any of them. Since the evictions, I have had 3 neighbors shoot me the bird on my Ring Camera. Lovely, isn't it?

Hi Glenda when I buy a dozen eggs here in New Jersey they are around like $3.69 I believe that is ridiculous charging $10 or so for eggs I understand where you're coming from about neighbors I am the same way I stay to myself I don't bother anyone but I realize it would be nice to have one neighbor that you could talk to about things maybe go for a walk with have lunch once in awhile it's just very difficult to find a true real friend but it does get lonely

This makes me so sad. Your comments and many of the comments of the subscribers. Some of my best friends have been neighbors. We all need to be there for each other. I think you can keep boundaries to avoid some peoole that take advantage, but show compassion for people with obvious mental health issues or speech issues.
Glenda, I have always felt the same way about not wanting to get to know the neighbors. I've never been able to explain the feelings well - even to myself. Plus I felt like I must be a terrible person. You explained it so well and that's exactly how I feel! The few times my husband and I have tried to be friendly with neighbors, we've been taken advantage of and put in weird situations. Thank you for sharing your feelings and being so honest! I don't like anyone coming to my home unannounced! I'm very busy, on a tight schedule, and sure don't have time for uninvited guests. When I am home I just want to relax and sure don't want to worry about entertaining anyone!
We had a neighbor that continually wanted to borrow things, so annoying. He ask my husband if he could borrow some electrical tape. Husband told him he did not have any at the time.. neighbor then asked when he would buy some tape so he could borrow it. 😂. I completely lost it laughing at him, but he was completely serious, and offended that I laughed.
What an idiot. Did he not consider buying it himself? We've had neighbors borrow our lawn mower, rakes, shovel even our oven to bake their dinner in because their oven was broken.

I very rarely become close friends with a neighbor. In fact, it really only happened one time in my life. That was years ago. Leah. She & I were so close, such good friends. That friendship was one in a million. (I think all my other friends were from school.) Anyway, she ended up moving away, and then she died. In fact, I made a video about her, "My best friend Leah, a true incident", or something like that. She was a special friend.
I'm a very friendly person but I would never knock on someone's door unannounced I just think it's rude. So I can understand from your viewpoint in what you've been through in the past not trusting a lot of folks. Safety 1st always. Glenda, I really enjoyed your description of listening to someone who you would rather not listen to. My father was known to have a lot of tools in his garage and would help neighbours fix fences or broken doors. UNTIL a neighbour started helping himself, and "borrowing" Dad's tools. The neighbour didn't think he was stealing the tools since if Dad needed one he would know the neighbour had it at his house. The twisted way some people think amazes me. I'm blessed with good neighbors. A family across the street from Pakistan calls to come by and pick mint, and generously brings my family the best spicy rice dishes I could never make myself. I think in a condo you have people you share common areas with and there's nothing wrong with not wanting to socialize with everyone every time you go out. Just smile and go about your business. You don't have to give your time to chat with everyone you see. But kindness is important.

It’s nice having friends. I used to have a friend who took advantage of our friend ship by first , sitting on our step when she fist met us to coming inside on the couch to the table then asking if she could have some of our dinner. She did that at all the neighbors house tell people how good it Llosa until they gave her some of their food they weee eating. She was always over at my house eating or drinking coffee. Never invited us to dinner but sure thought she could eat our food. Now that I’m divorced I never hear from her.

Lord I thought eggs were expensive in Alabama at$4.62 for 18! $13 is hwy robbery! I have my own chickens for eggs for the first time ever, they can be pains in the rear but I really love having them! My mum always told me keep yourself to yourself regarding neighbour’s, I’m civil etc but don’t have social contact. My husband is opposite he loves chatting and been social it drives me mad!
Let me first start by saying those earrings complement your shirt. Second let me tell you, my neighbors are from Antigua the nicest people ever. I like them a lot. However, when it comes to the amount of favors she ask me. It’s quite annoying. She wants me to go with her to Target and places that aren’t even far away. Mind you she has a car and GPS and knows how to use it. She overdoes it, and I had to put a stop to it. You don’t need me to go with you to buy your 4 year old daughter personal items. You don’t need me to go with you to go get your daughter tested for Covid. She even wanted me to go with her to pump gas! Because apparently that’s a culture shock for her. I was beginning to get a feeling that she liked me because she wanted me to go with her 11 minutes away to target with her me thinking she was nervous to drive alone, her sister (grown adult) came with us. That’s when I said there is definitely more to this. She asked me 3 weeks ago after going to target with her and eating dinner late because I was with her if I can put a TV stand for her. I told her no I’m busy. She asked me a week ago to go with her because she has an interview and it wasn’t even far or no Highway needed. I said okay but then put my phone on [DO NOT DISTURB] I don’t know her MO but there’s a difference for doing someone a favor and then turning around with 3-4 more favors. I’m kind and will help but to an extent. I’ve even bought up her cases of water for her (2nd floor) Her mom is 72 so I will help her in a heartbeat. I don’t allow her mom to carry anything heavy That’s fine. But the daughter is a bit much that my friends and family began to notice.

I would have cut her short--saying I had groceries to unload, and things to do. Sheesh...who has time for that nonsense. The few neighbors I have out here in the country value their privacy, as I do mine. We are friendly if we see one another in passing--but we all mind our own business. Plus--they are NORMAL! I know what you're saying, if I go out and sit on my steps in the front, it seems like the whole town comes by to talk to me; especially my sister in law who lives down the street. Sometimes, that can be annoying. My daughter who lives downstairs WILL NOT leave the door open, PERIOD because she can not stand when folks do that. I'm so glad you're feeling better. I agree about neighbors! I look out the window before I run outside to avoid neighbors! 😂 Across the hall is a family of 7 in a 3 bedroom...parents and 5 kids! Always "borrowing" something and of course I can't say no...it's always milk, flour, sodas and get this..a can opener! And I have to remind the kids to bring back the can opener immediately after they use it or they will forget and then they can't find it! Oh Lord! Years ago one of my co-workers always wanted to just talk about HERSELF! That's it! I thought that was the strangest thing. She NEVER asked me anything about myself..never. Tanya Tressler When my friend moved into a house with another girl the other girl was so low on money she didn’t have a can opener. She had cans and cans of food but couldn’t open them and wouldn’t borrow from neighbors next door. She looked at my friend’s can opener like she was starving. And what a house it was. You could see the out doors from the dining room wall, you had to flush the toilet by putting a rubber glove on lifting the top off and pulling a plastic fork connected to the chain. The tub filled with water when u took a shower and took two days to empty and you turned the light on in the kitchen by slapping the counter. She lived there for two years and nothing got better, no one had any money but they had some wild parties.
Our new neighbors are from Algeria and Iraq. We talk to them. But the ones from USA are snobby. I guess they are afraid. We lived in our house for 42 yrs. I’m like you.

They say familiarity breeds contempt. Sadly, I have found that to be true. I moved to my current home 21 years ago and became "neighbors" with the family next door. What a mistake. She was a terrible gossip and self-appointed neighborhood watch. She has lied about our family so much so that other neighbors have shunned us, but I really didn't care to be friends with the whole neighborhood, just cordial. Some can't even muster up a "Hello". So be it. We that the NIMBY approach (Not In My Back Yard). You stay on your side of the fence and leave us to our own. God Bless you Glenda.

Me too! I work part-time....usually 3, sometimes 4 days a week. On my days off--I like to chill out. Which means I sleep in a little later, and when I get up, if I'm not going anywhere--I'm in no hurry to get dressed. So if somebody knocks on my door--uninvited--they're out of luck.

Sorry to hear you mock individuals with speech disabilities Glenda. I’ve been a long time subscriber and it hurt my heart and made me cringe when you pretended to talk like your old neighbor. I’m sure it’s no fun for her either. I know you don’t like being bullied and ridiculed so I am very sad to see you do that to others. Speech disabilities are no fun.
My old neighbor DID NOT have a speech impediment. She was wearing braces & back in the 80's the braces were thick metal with little rubber bands on them. I do not mock anyone with a disability. My father had polio as an infant & was crippled as a result of it. I learned as a child to love & accept everyone regardless of their disability, race, gender, religious affiliation or sexual orientation.

Kathleen Ronso your perspective doesn’t encompass all the facts. You used tunnel vision to arrive there and assumed the worst of a person, I would be a little upset too if you missed the mark so inefficiently about me.
Strange you should emphasize the small fraction of the video where she describes her former neighbors, the ones that came over constantly to borrow things and you miss that she still gave them what they needed as she lived there and tolerated their mischief for years. Would you be as patient on the outside?
She was showing us why it was so hard to understand that woman and the man, that’s part of storytelling, it doesn’t come close to mocking someone with speech disabilities. But if you hope for the negative, you will find it. You are a long time subscriber, you should know her motives.
Mark Twain described peoples’ speech all the time in his books to give audiences a picture of the characters in his books. Her channel, among other things is a story telling channel.
You also missed that she was on her way to help someone/family and the prayer requests for several people later in the video, but choose to highlight pretending Glenda was mocking them and bullying them? How do you bully someone who isnt around? This was an especially entertaining video making ordinary daily jobs interesting and reminiscences creative and descriptive. She has a talent for making the mundane interesting and come alive.

When it comes to making friends these days, you have to be careful who you choose to bring into your life. When people show you who they are, believe them. Friends can be wonderful assets to have, but to make a friend, you must be a friendly person first and then see if it turns into a friendship. It is a process. It is had to have neighbors that come in unannounced for visit, most the time I'm okay with a very short visit, but their are a few people that just doesn't know when to go home...LOL...I heard about a couple that had people over one night for the evening, they just didn't know when to leave, finally the hubby said, wife we better go to bed where our friends can go home...haha!

About the thing you are talking about creators not looking in the camera you really shouldn't be doing that at all when you're driving it is distracted driving and most of the TH-cam channels and creators that I watch if they're driving they will say I'm sorry I can't read the chat I'm driving. You just have to really be careful because it still is a form of distracted driving you're taking your eyes off the road even for that split second we all know what can happen so just be careful and be safe!

Best policy is not to get cozy with your neighbors. Keep them out of your business. My neighbors, of which 2 have been evicted. Wish it could be better, but not wise to fool with any of them. Since the evictions, I have had 3 neighbors shoot me the bird on my Ring Camera. Lovely, isn't it?

Hi Glenda when I buy a dozen eggs here in New Jersey they are around like $3.69 I believe that is ridiculous charging $10 or so for eggs I understand where you're coming from about neighbors I am the same way I stay to myself I don't bother anyone but I realize it would be nice to have one neighbor that you could talk to about things maybe go for a walk with have lunch once in awhile it's just very difficult to find a true real friend but it does get lonely

This makes me so sad. Your comments and many of the comments of the subscribers. Some of my best friends have been neighbors. We all need to be there for each other. I think you can keep boundaries to avoid some peoole that take advantage, but show compassion for people with obvious mental health issues or speech issues.

Glenda, I have always felt the same way about not wanting to get to know the neighbors. I've never been able to explain the feelings well - even to myself. Plus I felt like I must be a terrible person. You explained it so well and that's exactly how I feel! The few times my husband and I have tried to be friendly with neighbors, we've been taken advantage of and put in weird situations. Thank you for sharing your feelings and being so honest!

We had a neighbor that continually wanted to borrow things, so annoying. He ask my husband if he could borrow some electrical tape. Husband told him he did not have any at the time.. neighbor then asked when he would buy some tape so he could borrow it. 😂. I completely lost it laughing at him, but he was completely serious, and offended that I laughed.
What an idiot. Did he not consider buying it himself? We've had neighbors borrow our lawn mower, rakes, shovel even our oven to bake their dinner in because their oven was broken.

I very rarely become close friends with a neighbor. In fact, it really only happened one time in my life. That was years ago. Leah. She & I were so close, such good friends. That friendship was one in a million. (I think all my other friends were from school.) Anyway, she ended up moving away, and then she died. In fact, I made a video about her, "My best friend Leah, a true incident", or something like that. She was a special friend.

Glenda, I really enjoyed your description of listening to someone who you would rather not listen to. My father was known to have a lot of tools in his garage and would help neighbours fix fences or broken doors. UNTIL a neighbour started helping himself, and "borrowing" Dad's tools. The neighbour didn't think he was stealing the tools since if Dad needed one he would know the neighbour had it at his house. The twisted way some people think amazes me. What ashame the neighbors took advantage of your father's generosity
I'm blessed with good neighbors. A family across the street from Pakistan calls to come by and pick mint, and generously brings my family the best spicy rice dishes I could never make myself. I think in a condo you have people you share common areas with and there's nothing wrong with not wanting to socialize with everyone every time you go out. Just smile and go about your business. You don't have to give your time to chat with everyone you see. But kindness is important.
You look so good today. When I have an encounter with someone like that I'll say I'm sorry but I have to go to the bathroom. I'll also say God bless you, I'll pray for you. Sometimes when I say good bye that way I find people sometimes avoid me in the future because they don't believe.

It’s nice having friends. I used to have a friend who took advantage of our friend ship by first , sitting on our step when she fist met us to coming inside on the couch to the table then asking if she could have some of our dinner. She did that at all the neighbors house tell people how good it Llosa until they gave her some of their food they weee eating. She was always over at my house eating or drinking coffee. Never invited us to dinner but sure thought she could eat our food.
Now that I’m divorced I never hear from her.

Lord I thought eggs were expensive in Alabama at$4.62 for 18! $13 is hwy robbery! I have my own chickens for eggs for the first time ever, they can be pains in the rear but I really love having them! They are fun to watch and each have a personality and I have plenty of eggs for myself and my kids and grandkids

My mum always told me keep yourself to yourself regarding neighbour’s, I’m civil etc but don’t have social contact. My husband is opposite he loves chatting and been social it drives me mad!
Let me first start by saying those earrings complement your shirt.
Second let me tell you, my neighbors are from Antigua the nicest people ever. I like them a lot. However, when it comes to the amount of favors she ask me. It’s quite annoying. She wants me to go with her to Target and places that aren’t even far away. Mind you she has a car and GPS and knows how to use it.
She overdoes it, and I had to put a stop to it. You don’t need me to go with you to buy your 4 year old daughter personal items. You don’t need me to go with you to go get your daughter tested for Covid. She even wanted me to go with her to pump gas! Because apparently that’s a culture shock for her.
I was beginning to get a feeling that she liked me because she wanted me to go with her 11 minutes away to target with her me thinking she was nervous to drive alone, her sister (grown adult) came with us.
That’s when I said there is definitely more to this. She asked me 3 weeks ago after going to target with her and eating dinner late because I was with her if I can put a TV stand for her. I told her no I’m busy.
She asked me a week ago to go with her because she has an interview and it wasn’t even far or no Highway needed. I said okay but then put my phone on [DO NOT DISTURB]
I don’t know her MO but there’s a difference for doing someone a favor and then turning around with 3-4 more favors. I’m kind and will help but to an extent.
I’ve even bought up her cases of water for her (2nd floor)
Her mom is 72 so I will help her in a heartbeat. I don’t allow her mom to carry anything heavy That’s fine.
But the daughter is a bit much that my friends and family began to notice.

Glenda, you were more tolerate with that "prophetess" than I would have been. A lot of people are running around these days wanting to be important---and have become SELF-PROCLAIMED "prophets". I would have cut her short--saying I had groceries to unload, and things to do. Sheesh...who has time for that nonsense. The few neighbors I have out here in the country value their privacy, as I do mine. We are friendly if we see one another in passing--but we all mind our own business. Plus--they are NORMAL! (that counts for a lot, lol!) Hope you can avoid that weirdo in the future 😊

LOL, Glenda, you are really making laugh about some of your neighbors. I know what you're saying, if I go out and sit on my steps in the front, it seems like the whole town comes by to talk to me; especially my sister in law who lives down the street. Sometimes, that can be annoying. My daughter who lives downstairs WILL NOT leave the door open, PERIOD because she can not stand when folks do that. I'm so glad you're feeling better. I agree about neighbors! I look out the window before I run outside to avoid neighbors! 😂 Across the hall is a family of 7 in a 3 bedroom...parents and 5 kids! Always "borrowing" something and of course I can't say no...it's always milk, flour, sodas and get this..a can opener! And I have to remind the kids to bring back the can opener immediately after they use it or they will forget and then they can't find it! Oh Lord! Years ago one of my co-workers always wanted to just talk about HERSELF! That's it! I thought that was the strangest thing. She NEVER asked me anything about myself..never. Tanya Tressler When my friend moved into a house with another girl the other girl was so low on money she didn’t have a can opener. She had cans and cans of food but couldn’t open them and wouldn’t borrow from neighbors next door. She looked at my friend’s can opener like she was starving.
And what a house it was. You could see the out doors from the dining room wall, you had to flush the toilet by putting a rubber glove on lifting the top off and pulling a plastic fork connected to the chain. The tub filled with water when u took a shower and took two days to empty and you turned the light on in the kitchen by slapping the counter. She lived there for two years and nothing got better, no one had any money but they had some wild parties.
