- Well it's been a hot minute! but with the Kickstarter fulfillment wrapped up I can finally get back to making some videos. This video takes a deep dive into creating a ruined gatehouse. Join me as I reuse failed prints and test out the new openable doors featured as part of Slice & Slot.
If you want to check out Slice & Slot for yourself you can grab the files over on MyMiniFactory

The BFME Intro sounds was a very nice touch. Great piece.
Cheers mate! It took me longer than I care to admit but I think it was totally worth it!
Please bring us more of these vids. This stuff is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! Keep pumping out the content and I guarantee this channel will grow, such high quality stuff.
Cheers mate! I think I will put together a slightly less complicated build for the next video so that it doesn’t take so long to edit!
That's a very good idea. Keeping editing manageable is key to be able to keep putting out content consistently. @@microforgeminis
Beautiful work. You're right, that moss looked scary at first, but came out perfect.
I hadn’t tested the moss on anything before slapping it on this piece so it was a scary hour long wait until it dried 🤣
I love these projects!!! More dioramas please
Will do! Thanks mate
Just got round to downloading the booster pack from the Kickstarter. I've been meaning to print some more bits off and actually building something for ages. Love the video, would love to see more like this.
Cheers mate and happy printing! Next video should be out this weekend so stay tuned
Awesome gatehouse mate. It gave lots of Ideas for DnD terrain.
Thank you! I’m not in the DnD crowd (although I have admired it from afar for a long time) so I’m never sure how much my stuff translates for DnD. Glad to hear it’s given you some inspiration!
Incredible video! Always amazing to watch a talented terrain builder at work. Would love to see more of your miniatures too
Thanks for the kind words! If you are keen to see some more of the minis you can check out my Instagram which has more close ups. Hopefully I can work them in to future videos as well
Comments for the algorithm. Plus Microforge is a genius terrain guy ❤
The algorithm is satisfied. All hail the algorithm!
Gorgeous build!!!!
Amazing work mate, really satisfying to watch!
Glad you enjoyed it mate!
Incredible video mate! I will absolutely be making a pile of ruined towers. They will work great for the Old World Warhammer release and my usual MESBG crowd
Cheers mate and totally agree, if you swap out the Minas Tirith battlements you have a warhammer or even mordheim build ready to go!
Amazing Vid! Terrain looking impeccable as per microforge standards. Definitely down to see more of this. 😃
Cheers lads!
Outstanding my man! Thing of beauty
Cheers mate!
I'd LOVE to see more terrains and such. This was a great video. Thank you.
Thanks so much! The next video is already in the works so hopefully it should be ready soon 🙂
Looks great !!!
Cheers thank you!
Fantastic build sir
Thank you sir!
Awesome video !
What an opening! And what an amazing piece of terrain!
Cheers mate! I’m glad you liked it
Absolutly incredible man. I cant wait to get into this system in the new year. The modularity is just perfection
Cheers mate. Can’t wait to see what you cook up! Those first pieces you showed me looked like you already have it all figured out
@microforgeminis Yeh going to do a full abandoned village type build first. Then when I've had the practice Gondolin
Superb build, love the paint scheme and weathering looks fantastic!
Thanks mate! I even had some of those lovely barrels of yours in the background 😉
yes I spotted them - nicely painted they look great@@microforgeminis
Really nice job, my man! 👍🏻
thanks mate!
Great build! I wish 10 mm foam was available in the U.S., your slice and slot system is genius.
It is a shame but if you have a hot wire cutter you can always cut it down. I am seriously considering going back and adapting the system for 1/2 inch foam given how much of my audience is US based
@@microforgeminis I think you would get a lot of interest in a half-inch version, I hope you do!
@microforgeminis maybe slice and slot is the incentive that gets the US to finally adopt metric
Wow! That looks so awesome; would love to play Middle-Earth SBG with something like this. You are very talented! More content like this please
Thanks very much for the kind words! Hopefully get the next video out the other side of Xmas
Love it ❤
I saw Zorpazorp using Weld Bond and it seems to glue many different materials together, sort of like liquid nails.
ooooo weld bond! I will give it a go!
Love it. Was looking forward to the video since the first time I saw your first Gate Instragram post
Cheers mate. I have been crunching this one to try and get it out asap hopefully it was an enjoyable watch
@@microforgeminis It was. Now i want to make a whole Arnor inspired bord and paint up an army to go with it.
A whole arnor board would be awesome
It’s been a dream of mine for about 20 years!
Spectacular and gorgeous...a creative, realistic and fantastic work!!😍😍👍👍
thanks very much glad you like it!
I want that. That thing. That does the stuff. And the other thing. All of it. I want it. I want it all!! Where and how would be a pleasant bit of info sir.
Also, good job. Beautiful work. I am starting to watch your videos slowly quite lovely
Wow! Just discovered your Channel and subscribed immediately! So where can I get this amazing score-o-matic 10k jig set? 😊
Thanks for the sub! depending on where you are in the world, you can either buy directly from me or one of my licensed merchants. the laser cutting files are included with the 3D printing files on My Mini Factory so you can also laser cut your own jigs if you have access to a laser cutter or maker space using 3mm MDF
I started this video thinking I was watching Real Terrain Hobbies or Black Magic Crafts. This is some high quality content on such a small channel! Keep making content like this, and you'll be 100k subs and beyond in no time.
In order to glue foam and resin/PLA printed parts, I've found it best to cover the foam in a watered down Tamiya or AK putty. It not only allows more glues to be used, but stops paints and oils from soaking into the foam as much also. You can crumble the bricks easier after the putty has dried to add a nice aged look. Finally it also adds a nice bit of texture, but is also able to take texture if you wanted to the aluminum ball or brush, depending on your desired effect.
First of all I’m not sure how this comment slipped under the radar but thank you for the kind words. Real terrain hobbies and BMC are big inspirations of mine so that really does mean a lot.
I will definitely pick up some AK putty and give it a shot. If it behaves how you describe it, then it might be really interesting to try.
I recently watched a video where a crafter used Bob Smith Industries Super Gold super glue. It works with foam and doesn't melt it. @@microforgeminis
Hey this looks mighty fine! Excellent work.
Thanks very much mate!
Awesome man!
Absolute quality video mate! The towers and gate look so good!
Cheers mate! I think the next video will be a shorter one to save my sanity🤣
Really, really nice work!
Cheers mate!
Earned my like just for using BfME voicelines
Haha yeah those old sound bites really had some nostalgia to them
They're not th... oh, it's 20 years old this year, huh
I have had good luck with foam safe super glue or uhu por (expanded polystyrene glue)
Oooo thanks for this. I will have to give them a try! Particularly interested in the super glue as that keeps the build moving along speedily. What is the drying time for the uhu option?
@@microforgeminis it's pretty stuck in a few minutes but I think the full cure is a couple of hours.
@@dpratt1984 awesome well I will add both to the list then as I am not a massive fan of mixing small amounts of two part epoxy.
The building looks great! My only observation would be that the sax music at the end during the big reveal is a wee bit loud. Your airbrush work is superb as is how you use the Score-O-Matic 10000 to create the corners! Always enjoy seeing your creations. 😁
Thanks for the feedback on the music. I always feel like I am flying blind with the audio levels so will try and bare this in mind for next time. I count myself as a bit of an airbrush noob so that compliment means a whole lot!
Love the build, where do you source your Sintra from?
I haven’t found anything local so have had to buy from ALIEXPRESS. The 3mm stuff is pretty cheap
What dimension have your XPS plates? 10x100 mm but how long?
I have cut all my xps foam to 300x100x10mm thick. I find I generally don’t need pieces longer than this and it is generally pretty easy to store in bulk ready for use.
The wall endcaps on top are failed prints right?
Yeah they were just failed prints that I didn’t want to throw out
That’s something miss. Like the conectors but as endcap. So I can combine these with other projects
