When I got the sample set from Creed, I liked Aventus 1st but this one grew on me over Green Irish Tweed. Its more masculine. When I put it on my wife asked, "Are you wearing love potion #9 or something?" I was surprised she liked it since she is very picky on most fragrances and it has a barbershop scent vibe but more elegant. I had to go ahead and purchase the 3.3 bottle. 1 of my new favs.
It doesn't smell like old spice, old spice tries to smell like viking. You smell viking and old spice and you immediately get the thought that old spice and similar fragrances are the knock off, you go "oh, that's what it was supposed to be".
I only own aventus cologne and Viking. Viking is amazing but it’s old school so I recommend you trying before buying. It’s my go to suit and tie fragrance.
I think a lot of people had expectations that it was some kind of Aventus killer or would be another Aventus, but it's nothing like it! So people dumped on it. I prefer this to Aventus, so I was always a fan. I never had such expectations. Really love this one :D

Old Spice is a complementary comparison for Viking. Old Spice is a classic piece of Americana and a great Spicy Oriental scent (another historical aspect being the first men's Spicy Oriental frag) as a dime store toiletry scent. Even Olivier Creed gave Old Spice a compliment in an interview! Now I really want to try Viking. I've often wondered what is the best example of what Old Spice WOULD be if it were fleshed out, made to be richer and more complex. Currently I give that honor to John Varvatos first frag, which is listed as a Woody Oriental but I think is more appropriately categorized as a Spicy Oriental. They share Amber and cinnamon notes. And the rich, gooey, sweet date note in Varvatos heightens the comparison for me. So which one: Viking or Varvatos? Update: I've since discovered Paul Sebastian Fine Cologne, which is a near clone of Old Spice in beast mode. It's that stronger, fuller, richer Old Spice as a true proper fine fragrance. I've ordered Viking and it's on the way. Will be interesting to see what relationship it has to classic Old Spice.
@@rickterrance4981 OK, update: Viking, in my opinion, has more in common with a Bay Rum than it does classic old Spice. Specifically with regard to overall vibe and occasion wearability. Just swap out the rum for a very mentholated mint note. Both have the sweet spices and are most appropriate for an every-day-wear scent. I like Viking, and interpret it as a sort of niche-level, higher quality Ode to the traditional Bay Rum (mentholated mint instead of rum).

I got a sample of this at Saks, out the gate it smelled like pickle juice; then potpourri off my skin. Dried down a little and starting smelling of cloves particularly. But after 5 hours, when I had to get my nose an inch away from my hand to smell it: it was awesome. Can’t explain it but, it was soft and smooth. Very pleasant, though I’m not gonna drop $100’s on something I only enjoy the last hour of.
By far this is the best review on Viking to date if you some suggestions whether to buy it or not. STREET SCENTS was cosigning Viking back when it first came out. People recently starting coming around to appreciating Viking.

This one was a blind buy and I didn't like it initially but I like it a lot now, however my gripe with it is that it just doesn't project as other creeds.
Sadly, I can't figure out Viking. All I smell is menthol, like Vicks Vapo rub. Once it dries down, my nose doesn't pick up what's good about this. My gf said it's nice and even sexy. However, a customer at my office complained to the staff they were getting a headache from it. It's really strong. So, I'll keep my bottle and hope someday I can appreciate this.
Just got my bottle today from jomashop, 17y01. One spray, still get whiffs 6 hrs in. This reminds me of a Gucci Envy bottle I recently gave my nephew from the early 90s. He's 10, and loves it. Says people at school tell him he smells good. Lol
NO! JUST NO. ALRIGHT? We are not suckers for paying retail price... This fragrance is so unique, my absolute favorite from creed. If it gets ruined by clones, like Aventus, it's gonna be so lame
@@vasilis6691 There are clones of Creed Viking, but just not as many as Creed Aventus. In fact I have bought one before, but there is nothing like a really good Creed fragrance. The dry down is where clones have a had time replicating or just don't shine especially with Creed Aventus.

You can always find deals on authentic Creed fragrances if you know where to look. Bought my Creed Viking 3.3oz for the price of 1.7oz. In fact a bit less. Also you can get away with decants of Niche fragrances especially if you don't wear them much, and only use on special occasions.

This is one of the my favorite fragrance in my top3 creed line.
My bottle is 2018 batch, smells amazing, all day performance with just 2 sprays. Not for younger crowd.
