I’m glad I didn’t listen when everyone was bashing Viking when it came out. I believe it’s as good as aventus. Extremely versatile and smells fantastic.

Well, my favorite Creed is Bois du Portugal. Smooth, elegant, pleasant, sophisticated. Then Royal Oud, Aventus, then Viking. I was talking to a sales rep in the Creed boutique here in Vegas, and I was saying I had a more difficult time identifying the occasion appropriateness for Viking, and I've settled on everyday scent. He agreed with that. But interesting that Max said it "wasn't a fougere, it was a New World Fougere". My pet peeve is so many people calling almost everything a Fougere. Viking isn't a classic Fougere of course. It does have lavender, one of the identifying accord notes of a Fougere. But it's very spicy, and smells more in the vein of a more sophisticated British Sterling or bay rum (rather than the Oriental Spicy Old Spice). Its very mentholated. Fun, everyday wear, but classic touches of Oriental Spicy and Fougere.
I will say I don't completely understand the hate that the house of Creed often gets. It seems to often be as attributable to resentment and and contrarianism as anything else. But I will say, Creed should think through whether they want to behave as niche or designer. I don't really like the idea of flankers, especially for a niche house.
I agree James, thanks for sharing your thoughts... I classify Viking more of a woody-spicy but I can see where they'd say it's a ''New-Fougere'' but I can't stand every brand saying everything is a fougere these days either... My TOP 5 are: Vintage Tabarome, Millesime 1849, Royal English Leather, Viking and Vetiver 1948 - Bois du Portugal is in the TOP 10 for sure...
@@MaxForti wow those are some vintage Creeds in your top 5. I have the Tabarome Millesime and its value for me is in the historic significance (Duke if Windsor and all that) and as a collectors item. I don't care much for the scent or performance. My top 7:
1. Bois du Portugal
2. Royal Oud
3. Aventus
4. Viking
5. Green Irish Tweed
6. Green Valley (I only have/tried the Dua clone)
7. Spice and Wood
Great honest review. I agree with everything you said. I love OG Viking, but the new cologne version falls flat and doesn’t last on my skin. It’s nice, but nothing special, especially for the price point. I believe it’s just a cash grab from Creed based off of the eventual success of OG Viking, just making it more mass appealing and stripping Viking of everything that made it so great. Not much of a fan of niche houses doing the whole flanker thing either like the endless designer flankers now that our fragrance world has become. No one is willing to take a chance and create something truly unique or stand out anymore. Thank you for your input Max!

I find Viking Cologne easier to wear. I like both but gravitate towards the cologne
Got my sample of Viking Cologne and i have to say that Cologne is mutch better then the original in my opinion.
When OG Viking came out a lot of people were bashing it..I find it's a great one..I finished my sample of Viking Cologne and I'm getting myself a bottle..basically OG Viking for summer.

I support anything that's bit more mass appealing... you can never offend somebody smelling fresh...ppl are sensitive to spice....I don't wanna be the only one who enjoys what I'm wearing.. that's why I bought the cologne over the OG

I love Aventus and wonder how Viking cologne compares to it. I like citrusly scents
The note breakdown in viking intrigued me but it was too strong for me. Maybe the cologne is a little easier to wear

Love OG Viking, the cologne version while fresher and more modern, oddly enough has some old school touch aa well (feels like Vetiver Geranium Cologne, not Viking’s). I will eventually purchase it aa well but I am with you: Viking’s more character

It's not the same stuff, the red bottle is perfume the orange is cologne. Big differance.

Tried multiple Creeds rank them as follows:
Aventus (confidence booster)
Viking (most complimented by far, and transitions so well on my skin)
Green Irish Tweed (lovely drydown)
Millesime Imperial (great scent but performance is horrible)
Silver Mountain Water (not a fan of the cosmetic bag scent and very linear on my skin)
Royal Oud (akward scent for me; not very versatile)
Love the og viking .. i actually bought the 500ml flaccon and got it in a 2017 batch which 2017 and 2018 were the best production years for the OG viking. You have a chanel & i get you are being very diplomatic and kind to creed with your wording. The truth is Viking isnt just a little better it is substantially better than viking cologne. Viking cologne is a joke. I got my nose on a decant as soon as i could and just shocked at what creed is putting out now a days. Such a shame & i know their historical story is a joke but i still liked some of their fragrences pre 2017 but it feels like the last 5 years creed went down in flames. Stick with their older stuff or just do what i do. Enjoy the stock you currently have and move on to other niche brands. Real perfume snobs will get more out of Bouge or Papillon or christopher chong era amouage than current creed. Aventus cologne was a joke and so is viking cologne. I hoped the Blackrock cash infusion would get them back on their feet but no. I would rather they charge 1000 dollars a bottle if that is what it takes for the old creed quality to come back. If you read between the lines of what max is saying he found a way to do a video implying he likes the older one better but what he really means is "w t. F" is creed putting out lol

The Cologne really is a good aroma but the performance is very low, 3 hours on my skin. I prefer the old version.

I wore the Dua clone of Green Valley for the first time yesterday. One of the most verdantly Green fragrances I've ever smelled. I guess we are still wondering why Creed vaulted it.

You just have bad taste my friend 😂
I hated them because they didn't last long at all. Sampled on top of hand, wrist and forearm and all disappeared around 4 hours, only original vetiver lasted around 6 hours but only a vague skin scent. Thought they smelled great for an hour but at that price point it's a hard pass. Sampled other power houses on my other arm and a couple lasted strong for several more hours than any of the Creed.
To expensive . .
I really need to get my nose on this….
