    Wow. I grew up in Liverpool as a mixed race person in the 80s and 90s. I visited recently and definitely it has moved on since then. Back then it was really bad and much worse for my father when he grew up there in the 50s and 60s. It was well known Everton football club was a racist club then. I’m not talking about racism similar to that of today, but frequent violent, spitting etc. I’m surprised black people havent all got serious mental health problems from those times.

    • @isaz597
      @isaz597 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I find the community has dwindled. What's your take on it? Have black people moved out? It doesn't feel like a community anymore with ties to their history.

    • @2wheelspy
      @2wheelspy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Is Az I don’t know if I’m honest. Outside of Liverpool 8 still seems the same. I didn’t realise how racist Liverpool was until I moved away and came back recently. Granby Street was always known as a bad area when I was younger. My dad used to know the barber called kenny who was attacked by drug dealers.

    • @isaz597
      @isaz597 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@2wheelspy Granby street & the surrounding were predominantly black when I visited in my earlier years. Now it's more multicultural from what I've seen & less dangerous nowadays I think. Was Kenny attacked in a racist attack ? I've watch a few old videos of black neighborhoods & racial tensions in the 1980s. Apart from Liverpool it's mainly Leeds where I lived for a few years & greater Manchester where I'm from. All of these areas have a common theme they're like an island surrounded by sharks & on that island some of the native's anger has become pure wickedness.

    • @2wheelspy
      @2wheelspy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Is Az No it wasn’t a racist attack. I believe he was giving advice to drug users which the dealers didn’t like. Kenny was a Christian.
      Yes, it was very much an apartheid setup. You didn’t get many non white people living in different areas. If you saw someone who wasn’t white, there was an understanding between you life was hard. That coupled with the old 11+ education system. If you didn’t pass then you were almost certain to get involved in crime as a black person. Liverpool became a breeding ground for criminals. Did you ever venture out to areas such as page moss or Norris green?

    • @isaz597
      @isaz597 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@2wheelspy Did Kenny die from his injuries as you say "was"? I heard of Norris green & understood it to be a no go area. Typical estate like in Manchester. I only ventured as far as wavertree tbh asides from the cc.

The police back then were heavy handed bigoted Bully`s. I am white I grew up in Liverpool 8 and saw it all, back then the coppers were a law unto themselves and making a complaint was about as useful as pissing on a Volcano. Thankfully it is different today. Toxteth has moved on and for the better thank god.

    apart from racism, has anyone thought about the fact that black problems arise in their families from childhood. Many blacks are raised from childhood in single families by single mothers. This mother has several children. Due to the fact that she works, she cannot give due attention to all her children alone. So they grow up, studying poorly at school and getting involved in various gangs.

      I am 66 years old. My dad was black my mum was white. They were married for over 60 years, they both worked hard and brought up a family in Toxteth and we were never in trouble. The racism in the city was dreadful. The council and large organisations did not employ black people and blacks were never seen in the city centre, on buses, shops. It was very oppressive to live in that environment.
