Look in the manual. It’s tuned for HV ammo. I have shot bulk standard ammo and had issue with just about every mag. When I load HV, even cheap stuff, I have yet to have an issue in 600 rds.
have you looked into some of the Taylor-Tactical-Supply upgrades for it? They have a replacement guide rod and recoil spring that supposedly help with firing the bulk ammo. They also have some upgrade options to take your mags all the way up to 16 rounds
I've had the GSG 1911 with a rail attachment from ATI Rochester NY for about six years. I have fired approximately 1,000 rounds through it without any issues and have found it to be a very reliable pistol. It works very reliably with the ammo in the 1250 fps range. Of course, you should maintain the pistol with regular cleaning. I do mine after approximately 500 rounds. The pistol is very accurate as well.
The quality of the GSG 1911 is better than expected. Its good to hear from someone that has put some rounds thru one. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching
I have one of those GSG pistols. I did the accurizing kit on mine and it’s a real shooter. When I first bought it I had a lot of failures to feed and failures to fire. Once I polished the slide and rails I had no more problems. They cerakote those parts and get quite a bit of overspray in areas that cause drag. There’s also a huge aftermarket of parts for those guns. I’d say it’s probably the best $300 I’ve spent on a gun. It has the look and feel of a center fire 1911 and quite a few of the parts will interchange.
I have both: this and the Kimber kit. Once I got the GSG, it took over from the Kimber. It feels less Frankenstein-ish, and seems to work better than the Kimber (which I used to use on my Dan Wesson Patriot, to keep practice cheaper).
I have a Mauser 1911 22lr likely made by GSG as its also made in Germany. These guns have to use High Velocity 22lr to run well. Even with HV ammo mine is fussy with bulk ammo brands. CCI Blazer round nose HV runs flawlessly after 200 rounds. Everything else will get a double feed issue every 1 to 2 magazines. Otherwise I do like the looks and feel of these 22lr 1911 pistols.
Nice review 👍. I'm looking into purchasing one of these at the moment, I'm in the UK 🇬🇧 and our laws on firearms are totally different over here. Yes this "pistol" is available, yet it has to come with a 12inch barrel fitted by the factory & a non removable rod fitted to the rear of the grip so the entire thing ends up being 2feet long. This is so it cannot be concealed on ones person & also falls into the category of a carbine or LBP (long barreled pistol) the hoops we have to jump through to stay compliant 😁
That sounds crazy to me. This is a decent little 22. thanks for the great comment. I don't get many comments for across the pond.haha If you agriculture content you might enjoy my other channel 10. cow ranch Thank you in advance
Honestly you cant beat this for the price point. With ammo prices these days ill probably pick one of these up just so i dont burn through as much .45. Ive seen people pop tiny groups with new sights. The main complaint ive seen from these is the factory sights are flimsy and slip around while shooting.
User error and different ammunition notwithstanding, if a gun isn't accurate then what's the use? It doesn't have to be a tack driver, but consistent. This was consistently off. I guess you were aiming at the upside down "T", but hits were high right, with a 6 o'clock hold using a steady rest. At what distance were you shooting from? What height front sight did you use? These come with several. Have you adjusted the sights since then? Any improvements? Very curious.✌🏾
This gun belongs to a good friend of mine. I haven't adjusted the sights or anything. I was very happy to get to shoot a 1911 22 lr. The accuracy was good enough I think with some practice and ammo selection it would be great. Shooting at 25 yards. Thanks for the great comment and thanks for watching. If you are interested in agriculture content you could check out my other channel. 10 cow ranch. I need all the subs I can get. Thank you in advance
I have the Sig 1911-22 which is the same GSG except with Sig markings instead. I don't think the Sig version is still available. It is great fun to shoot and pretty reliable.
That is interesting Thunder bolts are not known for reliability in autos. Glad you found what your gun likes. Thanks for watching If you like agriculture content you might like my other channel 10 cow ranch thank you in advance
Even with the ZR kit added, this is a great gun for the money. Heck, the Kimber kit's MSRP is $361.00, and you need a 1911 to mount it on (and make unavailable in the meantime). A few bucks more for the GSG and a ZR kit, and you have a much better platform than the Kimber can ever hope to provide.
I every once in a while rapid fire mine to see if it works and yeah......its a very solid gun. Cci ammo works best for it according to the manual. Love it.
Hi 22LR good defense ?? What is the best 22LR ammunition for defense in 2024? Which manufacturer makes a good Colt 1911 22lr model in 2024? Quality Weapon accuracy Durability Regards Arthur Warsaw
You do have some information before buying one. If you are looking for something with great accuracy the Ruger auto's with target barrels or the Browning buck mark would give you what you are looking for. Thanks for watching

I love my GSG 1911 .22, have had it about 3 years, just a fun gun to shoot.
They are fun for sure. Hard to beat 22 lr fun. Thanks for watching

This full size 1911 in 22 lr is really fun. This is a great training tool. Thanks for watching
Look in the manual. This and the Mauser (specifically says the 1911 is tuned to same specs as the Mauser) are tuned for HV rounds only.
Great day at the range!👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸

New sights would be a good up grade Thanks for watching
I have two of these guns. I know they can shoot groups a lot tighter than that.
What ammo does your 1911 22 long rifle’s prefer
Get the zr tactical ultimate upgrade kit tightens it up even more
Thanks for the comment Tim @@TimNThoma
@@TimNThomadid your kit take a while to break into the pistol.
I bought the kit but even after 200 rounds it kept jamming almost every round.

I didn't realized sig made one. I. think you are right about the coating Thanks for the comment
Sigs are made by GSG as well.
Sounds like the slide could us a little lubricant.
Luv it ' Great Stuff '💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Thanks
apparently when these do jam it seems to happen between round 1 and 2
I think they need to break in time for sure. Thanks for watching.
Thunderbolts work great in those 1911 22

These guns can be made much more accurate with a ZR Tactical Competition package. A little pricey but the improvement is awesome.
Thanks for the comment These are great guns

Nice gun I have one and the barrel is threaded. Also how far out are you shooting?
About 30 yards I am going to pour some concrete at the shooting range for a good rest at 25 yards. Thanks for watching
Great gun. Get a couple of extra mags and refit them with low-profile followers to get a few more rounds per reload. Much fun.
