      @Tommy But its better to train on a heavy bag because the bag provides resistance

    I agree with everything you said 100%. I have both, but use Bob the most because I work on accuracy, i.e., front snap under the chin or sternum.

  • @georgevincent1834
    @georgevincent1834 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    You can build punching power on the Bob by simply raising it higher on its stand so that the solar plexus is approximately head high with the user. This way you're hitting a much more solid surface and you'll really feel the force in your power shots.

    I live in a small apartment and dont have anywhere to hang a bag, I just bought a Bob( well its more of a "Minh" vietnamese Bob). I love it, I'm currently on lockdown and this is saving my sanity. Mine is kinger than a traditional Bob and so I can kick it quite easily, its superb.

    Thanks for the most valuable input. I have a floor standing heavy bag. My Bob is Chinese. It is not soft like this one, it's hard rubber. I have to wear punching gloves. But, the thing I like about mine, if I dont hit the face accurately, it will ricochet. On a soft Bob, my punch will embed wherever it is hit.

  • @BradYaeger

    Wow, tough one for me. Got both too, look at BOB for training technique , bag for building power as well. But I train way more solo now than I ever have so BOB has moved into a more important role, I'd have to pick him instead. But BOB is still an asshole that always leaves you hanging.

      Dudes right sort of. I would choose bob. Without a doubt if you do some wild shit like tornado kicks you will break your ankle on the bag but not on bob. You can work on power with bob as well. You can even knock him down and do ground strikes on bob

  • @amatomic257
    @amatomic257 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I only have room for one so I chose the BOB. I figure it would make me a better striker than the heavy bag because it is anatomically accurate, I can work on shot placement better and I'll probably be able to build sufficient power.

  • @harpdog1555
    @harpdog1555 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    So with the bob you can't like give it your full power?

    • @kybone25
      @kybone25 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found that you can with punches and other upper body strikes. But with kicks, it will easily get knocked over as legs are alot stronger than arms. This constantly being knocked over will slowly damage the connection between
      the maniqien and the cylinder that you place onto the stem. As long as you do a snappy punch or upper body strike, as opposed to a push type strike, you can go full throttle on BOB.

    If you want to improve on your BOB, check out this DIY project I'm calling BOBLegs. It's a wing chun leg for front leg kicking and outside foot position, as well as a kicking leg on springs that allows you to work kick defense drills, intercepting, kicking around a barrier, and more.
