    I couldn't agree more...I'm not sure if it's because I've been in the oilfield for 10+years where it hasn't been PC'd or what but that's gotta be it because I have no filter and just speak my mind. Not saying I'm ignorant or anything but I simply speak louder and am more assertive in situations when I'm in normal society...I call it that because the oilfield is a different world and it's male dominant and everything that we rig up and down is heavy. When I'm in "normal society" I often get looks and omg moments from people when they look and talk to me because I feel everything is being censored/feminized...but in doing that I do notice that wherever I go or whatever I do I am noticed by females. I do work out and I am 6' 2 but so are a lot of guys....the difference is assertiveness/ tone/masculinity... everything that is being neutered in today's society

    • @AnitaBJay
      @AnitaBJay 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I've noticed this too. Social hierarchies are morphing into feminine forms. Female hierarchy is 'binary': you're either at the very top, in which case you're perfect and aren't accountable for anything (cult of positivity), or at the very bottom, meaning you might as well be a nazi and effectively exiled from society (cancel culture). It's increasingly just the extremes of relentless positivity and being pathologically neurotic.
      Male-specific spaces have been eradicated, and women have constructed enough cultural assets for themselves that they hold authority over men in most social spaces. Unfortunately, that trend hasn't been reversed, so neither will the feminization.

    I think there is a blurred line made by popular media around this matter.
    Getting “in touch with your emotions” doesn’t need to equal being more feminine. What we (counselors and therapists) are typically suggesting is a man’s ability to acknowledge his emotions and handle them appropriately.
    I think what’s blurred is what a man should actually be doing about those emotions.

    Was heavy lifting around 8-9 years. The common problem is that not a small part of the guys have that kind of body that it's very hard to gain weight/increase muscle mass, so they need a very hard training program - better food (expensive), specific exercises and time because it must be done EACH day. 5-6 meals, training only in specific hours. Those guys also don't spare enough time and money for doing this transformation, others have some chronic disorders (heart problems, skeletal, hormonal, etc) which is somewhat dangerous for lifting.
    So, good advice, but not 100% doable

    Being in touch with your feelings is pretty important. Make sure you exercise but it doesn't matter how. Just do something. Playing bball is exercise fyi. Toxic masculinity exists, and if you deny it you might be toxic and need to do some reflection. Walking outside with your shirt off in a public area where its not socially acceptable, you will feel judged and create a barrier between other people. But maybe you just embrace the awkwardness go for it. Its unnecessary imo.
    Life is hard enough to be good at and using women to lift your ego is self sabotaging. Find some people who really accept you to be vulnerable around them.
    Don't start making weird jokes. It's hard to read a room. Get good at empathizing. That will help you be good at social situations.

    I don't understand why you say its toxic masculanity? Taking care of your body and make it strong is not toxic. Having no filter is being honest and on the other hand helps to choose your friends based on who they realy are. Being loud in public is just bit rude and uncultural but it goes to men and women just the same. Its just part of good manners. That's how close to toxicity you've got. I think you guys make disservice to yourselves by not to sticking to definitions of terms you use.

    People keep saying that we live in a highly feminized society… I think aspects of this are true, but the energy required to function in our society is largely masculine. When women are working they are in their masculine energy because they need to get shit done. There isn’t really much space or appreciation or celebration over feminine energy…it’s always been ridiculed or passed off as silly or flaky. I’m only now realizing that men like feminine women, so why aren’t men and women encouraging and speaking positively about feminine energy? Especially around little girls…don’t give little girls the message that they are weak or less value yo the world than men. Give them a voice and celebrate their feminine qualities/energy. Our society is more masculine than people would like to admit nowadays. More social sensitivity is certainly there which you could argue is feminizing everybody… But to say that society has become more comfortable with feminine energy isn’t altogether true in my opinion anyway… Not when you consider what feminine energy truly is.

      It's just to get you to understand what masculinity should look like.
      What most people mean when they say "toxic masculinity" is just actualy masculinity.
      But don't be actually toxic obviously.

    • @w00tastic
      @w00tastic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paccawacca4069 I'll concede that's true for some VERY vocal people, but it's also problematic and reinforcing the incorrect language when calling the desirable form of masculinity (as detailed in this video) "toxic". I get that it's click-bait, but it's not helping with the stupidity that's being perpetuated.
      I also worry that the men who don't know better -- and let me pre-empt by saying that's NOT the majority of men -- will conflate the two and will shut out any valid criticisms of what actually is "toxic". They'll incorrectly label non-toxic masculinity as toxic.

    • @paccawacca4069
      @paccawacca4069 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@w00tastic nah man, when you use words like problematic that makes me think you err on the side of those people.

    • @w00tastic
      @w00tastic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paccawacca4069 What Stirling described in this video isn't toxic. The clickbait title called it "toxic" despite it not being toxic. That is problematic because it perpetuates a damaging and inaccurate narrative of just what "toxic masculinity" is. Language matters. Words hold power. Connotation drives meaning.
      Does it get angry and frustrated guys through the door to learn some valuable and much-needed knowledge? Yup. That's a desirable outcome. Does it help revise a negative, inaccurate narrative into something more accurate? Nope. That's an undesirable and avoidable side-effect. Does it instead help perpetuate that negative, inaccurate narrative? I think so, yeah, at least to some degree. I'd rather see no degree.
      It just as easily could've been titled "Unabashed Masculinity" or "Unrepentant Masculinity". Those words come from a place of power. Using "toxic" even in a sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek "fuck you" way is still giving into a bullshit narrative that needs to be shut down.

    • @DMp-xp6mj
      @DMp-xp6mj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paccawacca4069 That's the thing, masculinity shouldn't look like anything. Every man is different. There shouldn't be a wrong and a right way to be a man. If you want to lift weights and ran a million dollar business and do traditionally masculine things do you but you're not more masculine or superior to a guy who is a musician and writes poetry and is more emotional. That's what toxic masculinity is, a very narrow view of what a proper man is, and that's why it is problematic. We should encourage proper moral values for both genders ( honesty, loyalty etc) but other than that people should be allowed to live their own life as they see fit without someone dictating the "proper" way.
