    I'm glad I grew up when malls were popular. Shopping, hanging out, meeting girls from other schools. 90's were a great time.

    I about fell over when you pulled that pack of 94' Draft picks pack out of the bag, I have saved about 300 packs for decades, nothing special but awesome to see.

      Paul Konerko is probably the biggest card from the 94' draft picks.

    I miss malls. That was supposed to save that area! I live a short distance from there. When it first opened it was epic. Pirate and Steeler store too. My kids used to hang out and walk around w their friends. Then you had the “mall walkers” older folks in track suits getting in their steps!!

    On June 2, I feel compelled to talk a bit about Lou Gehrig. And where better than my favorite baseball related channel.
    Lou Gehrig was an absolute beast. If you're unfamiliar with the numbers, check out his baseball reference page. In my opinion, he's one of the 5 best players ever, with Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Ted Williams and Hank Aaron.
    And tragically, he died far too early and left the game a few years early as well. In 1937, he had a spectacular year. Then in 1938, his average dipped, but only to the .290s, but he had an OPS+ of nearly 130. A very good year by any measure. More so for a player who would likely only play 4-5 more years.
    Here's where it gets ridiculous.
    He was suffering the effects of, at the time, undiagnosed ALS. He was literally dying. His body breaking down and betraying him. His vision getting worse. With a disease that simply destroys the bodies ability to properly function... He was about 30% better than his peers.
    Lou Gehrig was a beast. And a true inspiration. Every baseball fan should learn about him. Outside of Jackie, I don't know of a more truly heroic figure in baseball.
    When he retired, he was top ten in batting average, second all time in home runs, RBI, runs scored. He was an absolute extra base machine, not just homers and doubles either. He hit a ton of triples.
    Seriously everyone. Go look at his stats. They actually make me giggle they're so stupid great.

    The Chinese buffet in that mall is amazing! I am pretty sure all the back taxes or something was just paid and hopefully some stuff will start moving in. Macy, Dicks, Michael’s, Panera, a movie theater, scare house and a sweet comic book store are all still in there

  • @WallyMoon56

    Sad thing that mall isn’t even 20years old. Its death blow was losing out in a potential amusement park going up next door. Meanwhile the Walmart 1/2 mile away is a packed mad house.

    Kinda gross seeing a card shop sell those cold 2023 Bowman packs from the mega boxes for 6 bucks each. Thankfully it looks pretty full. Rest of the prices seem better than what I get locally though tbf.

    How does a mall sell for 100?

    • @markthompson7503
      @markthompson7503 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am sure the mall sold for $100 but the land is separate. That mall will cost a small fortune in property taxes and other costs and with no tenants it's just dead money.

    • @WallyMoon56
      @WallyMoon56 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m from the area, the property taxes and utilities alone are over $100k a month and the mall is dead. Whoever paid the $100 years ago is in a money pit losing money hand over fist.

    It's strange that people would rely on a magazine from a company to tell them what a card is worth rather than what people are willing to pay for a card. The new way is much better.

    Why not just give the retail space away for cheap. Mall owner should do more
