I had an invader last night playing co-op with my cousin. I hunkered down in a building just using the invasion phone to mark the invaders location, needless to say he found my cousin, downed him and made a B-line for me. Unfortunately ol' Harry Hawker had the good sense to booby-trap the shit out of the building, so the invader jumps through a window, and gets fucking vibe checked by a teller mine.
Am I the only guy who is playing my sniper as a stealthy guy? I've had 5 invasions and won only 3 because the enemy sniper kept trying to kill me by bum rushing me. 2 of them died to landmines/shu-mines.
I think a lot of people are new to this series since it's on game pass. I've actually noticed a lot of people try to play it like MGSV, which works at first, but as soon as invasions come into play, they don't alter their playstyle at all. As the "good guy" sniper, you REALLY have to be slow during an invasion, and make that sniper your #1 priority
@@kreeperskid what does it mean to play as MGSV? there are so many ways to play as MGSV. MGSV supports both loud and silent gameplay. loud just takes bigger guns and armor and more GMP deployment
I haven't played sniper elite 5 BUT do not stop trying to be stealthy! I have been a fan of sniper elite since the first one and platinumed all of the games so trust me, Playing stealthy is the best way of playing it
I think a lot of players just assume the “ENEMY SNIPER HAS JOINED THE GAME” message that pops up is just a campaign notification and don’t really read it. Seems like they don’t even know about the invasion mode because they always just play like they’re still the only real person in the game
And the invader has the same outfit as regular german soldiers. One time my game was invaded, I run into the ennemy player, but since he didn't I thought he was just a npc
It's possible they also "paused" the game without realizing it doesn't actually pause. (They can't be arsed to read the notification in the "pause" menu.")

As someone who has played every sniper elite game, the invasions are hilarious especially when the game just came out and people were even more clueless than they are now lol
I feel like the Invader being fully-perked is kinda busted against new players. It either shouldn't be the case OR they should remove the SMG or something to balance out that advantage over the host. Because rn, the invader has the whole map on his side + equal or better perks to the host + equivalent equipment Also give the host checkpoints whenever they complete an objective even while invaded. I think that should balance it out AND encourage hosts to enable invasions. Because dying to an invasion can be a huge progress setback if it drags on while you're completing objectives.
The allied player can see through walls with focus, but axis doesn't have that. As the invading axis player, you're basically never safe inside a building because a person can just hold down the focus button and know exactly where you're going, even if they're a floor above or below you. My experience so far is that allied players are easy to find because they continue to get into combat, and give away their approximate location without me needing to use the invasion phone.
I agree it can be rough against newer players, I personally think mission 1 invasions shouldn't be a thing (coming from someone with 100 kills as an invader, also not having lost a single invasion while playing through the campaign with a friend (we had like 20 odd invasions through the whole thing) However you saying that the host should have checkpoints after completing objectives makes me think you've not actually played the game in general, you do get checkpoints after every checkpoint, you do get checkpoints even during invasions, also I feel it's kind of common sense to maybe deal with the player invader before continuing objectives in your game imo. People just don't play this game the way it's meant to be played, as a sneaky sniper, not a run and gun wannabe call of duty.
That's what I thought at first. Then I realized Karl is more advantageous since he can detect the exis sniper's location at all times with no downside.
So far I've lost all but 1 invasions in my game. Still enjoy it. Heart jumping all the way up into my throat each time I get the "you're invaded" message really adds to the experience and perfectly compensates for the dumb AI. Only wish I were able to select between random match making or invade a friend when attempting an invasion myself.
Absolutely love this game - the invasion mode currently is my favorite for sure. I’ve got 7 kills of 8 tries - not bad. Stepped on a mine. The idea of invading someone’s single player game (just like Elden ring or dark souls 3) and taking them out before they compete one of these maps (which in SE5 - these maps are HUGEEE) can take a couple hours for just one if you are hitting the side objectives - is so much fun man. Love it!
Glad you're not forced to have this feature on. Feels too easy to kill the people that you're invading, considering the fact that most of them have no idea that they are against real people.
The big thing is that people are just going balls to the wall in most invasions I've done but someone who actually stealths and knows to cover their tracks will bend over the invader.
@@ilo3456 Yeah, never stay in one spot for too many shots. The invader can easily track down your shots and triangulate where you are. But if you keep moving, they have to keep finding your new location, giving you the chance to get them before they get you.
Most people just aren't good at the game lol, me and my friend were invaded probably around 30 times over the course of our campaigns and we only lost I think 2 of those. Both times, the enemy sniper was just playing extremely scummy by hiding on the other side of the map camping an objective, and honestly the kick button is there if the invader is being a dick like that. One guy killed my friend then just ran away, not even attempting to fight me just to run out the timer. Kicked that guy before he got the satisfaction lol. It is way too easy to invade, you're totally right, but I think it's moreso that most poeple you invade are just playign the game casually and have no idea how to play or even what invasions are.
The concept is good, but what I hate is how the game tries to force you to enable invasion. The amount of XP debuffs you get for turning it off is insane. You shouldn’t be forced to play multiplayer to advance your single player campaign at a reasonable speed.
@@lord_razur That kinda reminds me of that old example of how WoW handled EXP bonuses/debuffs. I know at one point they would lower EXP rates if you played too long to prevent people from playing the game 24/7, but people got really mad at getting reduced EXP rates. So instead they switched it around and gave players increasing EXP bonuses if they were offline for so long, or something like that. So effectively it's still the same system/serves the same function, but in a more positive way. Suffice to say, I imagine a similar system could totally work in this case. Or in other words, basically exactly what you said. I haven't played the game yet but that sounds like a scummy system. I always hate games that try to force online/multiplayer bullshit in a single-player experience.

@@quarreneverett4767 Bro it LITERALLY shows up at the start when you press new campaign It's in the Difficulty settings it forces you to pick. Plus there are multiple in-game tutorial's which are present in game and can be accessed in the menu, Also if you press ESC when in game it shows you a player list, And it'll show you the enemy Jager in said list if you open it up, You can check their level as well to guess their skill. Honestly newer players biggest danger are the AI not the Jager, I've played about 15-20 invasions as a Jager so far, Only got 5 kills and only died 2 times. The other 10 times the Player died to AI and ended the Invasion, And one time they blew them self's up, Plus two times they finished the map before I loaded in.
Yea I managed to get in 12 invasion kills without a death, really really good feeling. Most players play the exact same during an invasion as they do during singleplayer. There's a lot of kills I probably didn't deserve, like killing 2 players with an SMG that had the drop on me, so I ended up feeling bad and turning off crossplay for my invasions
There are net issues with the invasion. I was invaded and killed by a guy that was behind a concrete bunker wall, I died before his character even emerged from the corner. Then another time I hit a guy with a mine and he was bandaging, I came around the corner and started body shotting him and he was able to finish bandaging and kill me while I was shooting him.
Haven't played it yet, but can't wait. Been playing this series since the first one came out for Ps2. Fell in love with it immediately. Was surprised when no one knew about it back then until V2 came out.
Invasion is some of the most fun I’ve had in a game in the last few months I’ve played it more than the campaign I’m currently 134-14 I hope this game stays popular so the mode doesn’t die anytime soon

8:50 is a perfect example why lens flare shouldnt be a thing in games. Its a stealth sniper game, why cant I stealth snipe my enemies without flashbanging them from a mile away.
Couldn't agree more. Lens flare is the most cancerous thing in modern shooter games and wildly unrealistic with the way it's always handled. Nothing kills sniper gameplay worse than taking away the only real advantage a sniper has, especially in PvP shooters. The worst part is that it's always done as a 'balancing' sort of thing, but never in my years of gaming have I ever seen a game where literally any other gun couldn't out-pace a sniper with or without lens flare. I used to love sniping in games back before that horrible trend hit.
That's been in every Sniper Elite game since V2 with enemy snipers. But I agree that it's pretty ridiculous to have it in any sort of PVP sense. Unless the sniper is aiming in the general direction of a light source.
Non lethal has its perks too. Tends to be quieter, especially for take downs. It's nice that the game doesn't really penalize you for one or the other.
My first Invasion was against some co-op lads I didn't even realise you could play co-op at the time. Killed them both though felt awesome will be invading again soon.
Love this game mode, 162 kills so far, some don't realise your in the game, it's fucking brilliant, hoping rebellion create huge maps just for 1v1 sniper battles...
I haven’t really looked into the game yet. I know past Sniper Elite games have ways to increase the difficulty by removing helping mechanics and such. For the invasions do you have the same difficulty and helpers or lack there of?
Don't forget to tag friendlies with the binos because they become basically permanent information for you. If they get alerted you'll see it and if they spot the enemy you'll get a last known position. Even if they're killed in stealth you'll see a little x on the minimap. If you only scope tag it will decay eventually and you won't have info on that area.
Joined an invasion on the 8th mission. Guy was all camped up in the larger building with the safe and he had mines set up at the end of the zip line as well as mines set up at every single vantage point with any elevation. My second invasion ever and my last. Barely started playing the game and going against people that play like that is just insane.

There are people who are setting traps for invading snipers. I've had twice where the player I invaded killed every single AI on the map and would just hide out, waiting to be invaded. It's savage.

Oh wow. I'd definetly try this when I get my SE5. I hate myself enough I played SE4 on authentic plus, solo'd all campaign missions + dlc's, and this seems to be my next method for some next level masochism.
I've had some pretty clueless guys... but also some pretty good duels... Either way it's so much fun! Had it for about a week and racked up 38 kills so far... 20 or so in defense. I love it!
From my experience invading other players games 9 times out of 10 the player I invade freaks out and gets curb stomped by the AI before I even reach them.
I decided to try out Axis invasion just to check out the different mode, but man have I just been utterly addicted to joining, killing, and resetting people's game to their reload it's so great
The problem with invasions in sniper elite 5 is that if you turn it on you are literally invaded every 2 seconds and it makes it impossible to actually play the game. You have to fight an entire army while also being worried a real player (who likely already did all the missions you are currently doing) is going to just camp the objective. I guarantee 99% of the playerbase ultimately just turns it off. So you will just always be invading absolute noobs who don't know what is going on enough to turn it off, or you will be invading chads who think they can handle you easily AND an entire german army.
The past couple of days things have been going crazy, the way everyone was running around in the beginning is how they act the entire game. One guy would take off running and would be putting his gun away and then he'd run into the wall and pull his gun out again. This literally goes on until you put a bullet in them, something else I noticed that was really funny is when you shoot someone in the head while they are exiting there vehicle they will shut the door and then collapse. 😂 it's so strange to see.
9:01 I saw another video like this, they can't stay in exactly the same spot once you've seen each other because you can just pop out of cover and click straight away for a kill.
They should implement this more im games , it would be cool if other players were the main objective character or boss characters its an under used mechanic that is a nice fusion of single player and pvp
i didn't know what this was till i got sot on the head from across the map and why this is on by default is beyond me. it's like a ruin you game metric that the developers put there to troll people. to turn it off it's like a menu within a menu so i had to google how to disable it. now it's permanently off.

Nah, I’m a stealth sniper as well. Your chances of survival is higher when you stay hidden instead out in the open

As someone with 30 axis kills now i absolutely agree.. The axis side has alot of advantages and that should not be a thing

its not too hard to deal with the invading sniper, jusat make it your primary objective. you know where they're coming from at all times

Honestly yeah, ideally they should have the default rate be for playing traditional solo and then offer up a _bonus_ for enabling invasions.

That's been in every Sniper Elite game since V2 with enemy snipers. But I agree that it's pretty ridiculous to have it in any sort of PVP sense. Unless the sniper is aiming in the general direction of a light source.

Non lethal has its perks too. Tends to be quieter, especially for take downs. It's nice that the game doesn't really penalize you for one or the other.

My first Invasion was against some co-op lads I didn't even realise you could play co-op at the time. Killed them both though felt awesome will be invading again soon.
Love this game mode, 162 kills so far, some don't realise your in the game, it's fucking brilliant, hoping rebellion create huge maps just for 1v1 sniper battles...

I haven’t really looked into the game yet. I know past Sniper Elite games have ways to increase the difficulty by removing helping mechanics and such. For the invasions do you have the same difficulty and helpers or lack there of?
When you invade, you are set to the same difficulty as the host. That includes the mechanics you mention.

Don't forget to tag friendlies with the binos because they become basically permanent information for you. If they get alerted you'll see it and if they spot the enemy you'll get a last known position. Even if they're killed in stealth you'll see a little x on the minimap. If you only scope tag it will decay eventually and you won't have info on that area.

Joined an invasion on the 8th mission. Guy was all camped up in the larger building with the safe and he had mines set up at the end of the zip line as well as mines set up at every single vantage point with any elevation. My second invasion ever and my last. Barely started playing the game and going against people that play like that is just insane.

Being the ivader/ troller you are clearly at a huge advantage.
There are people who are setting traps for invading snipers. I've had twice where the player I invaded killed every single AI on the map and would just hide out, waiting to be invaded. It's savage.

Oh wow. I'd definetly try this when I get my SE5. I hate myself enough I played SE4 on authentic plus, solo'd all campaign missions + dlc's, and this seems to be my next method for some next level masochism.

From my experience invading other players games 9 times out of 10 the player I invade freaks out and gets curb stomped by the AI before I even reach them.
Have yet to try Invasion. Playing with it turned off for my first play so i don’t get my ass completely beaten XD
I decided to try out Axis invasion just to check out the different mode, but man have I just been utterly addicted to joining, killing, and resetting people's game to their reload it's so great

The problem with invasions in sniper elite 5 is that if you turn it on you are literally invaded every 2 seconds and it makes it impossible to actually play the game. You have to fight an entire army while also being worried a real player (who likely already did all the missions you are currently doing) is going to just camp the objective.
I guarantee 99% of the playerbase ultimately just turns it off. So you will just always be invading absolute noobs who don't know what is going on enough to turn it off, or you will be invading chads who think they can handle you easily AND an entire german army.
This is why I keep "invasion" off. I just want to enjoy my sp experience...lol.

The past couple of days things have been going crazy, the way everyone was running around in the beginning is how they act the entire game. One guy would take off running and would be putting his gun away and then he'd run into the wall and pull his gun out again. This literally goes on until you put a bullet in them, something else I noticed that was really funny is when you shoot someone in the head while they are exiting there vehicle they will shut the door and then collapse. 😂 it's so strange to see.

9:01 I saw another video like this, they can't stay in exactly the same spot once you've seen each other because you can just pop out of cover and click straight away for a kill.
They should implement this more im games , it would be cool if other players were the main objective character or boss characters its an under used mechanic that is a nice fusion of single player and pvp

i didn't know what this was till i got sot on the head from across the map and why this is on by default is beyond me.
it's like a ruin you game metric that the developers put there to troll people.
to turn it off it's like a menu within a menu so i had to google how to disable it. now it's permanently off.
