I've played a little of sniper elite before hand but watching your invasions got me to buy 5 recently and play it. Lots of fun and the invasions are a great time on either end.
So glad that you're still enjoying making SE5 content! Your invasions are the best on TH-cam that I can find, good skill on display, great sportsmanship, and calm voice. I've bagged over 600 Karls and I still love playing and watching the game. Hope to join in the co-op fun, even though I'm on the opposite side of the planet :P

The game is currently in the playstation game catalogue so maybe this is the reason why there are so many new players (i too started playing the game bc of this)
I’ve never finished a sniper elite game but I have been loving the hunter aspect of invasions. It’s the only mode I’ve played other than tutorial and I love your invasion vids
I finally got my 500th kill haha, I kind of wish that they would add more rewards in, like maybe every one hundred kills, idk id like something lol. Any time I see "Atlantic wall" and "medium or easy" I know that the players are likely new players due to one, it being mission one and two it being a middle difficulty which is EVERYONES go to difficulties on new games. so I feel bad haha, me being a bit of a try-hard in the game versus just a new player trying to have fun, I often end up picking up easy kills which just doesn't help that feeling lol. 00:35 "I am in a bush", (then it just cuts to you in another position) was so funny to me lol And a co op series sounds amazing I would love to do that with you haha as for many others I'm sure. I have still got to play a stealth run with you and against as well so I can't wait to try that someday, great videos as always, see you tomorrow on stream hopefully. I wouldn't mind playing with a mic just so you know haha, I mean not much I can do about my voice lol. And it doesn't bother me enough to make it an issue for me
Almost everyone... I always play on hard on my first playthrough. I don't think I've played medium difficulty since Sniper Elite III, and I'm pretty sure I upped that to hard after 3 missions. The HUD and aim assist is still there on hard, so I always just went with that. I never fully completed any of the games on authentic until SE5, however! And I don't think I've completed any of the SE5 DLC missions on anything lower than authentic. Once you're used to it, its very difficult to drop back down to an easier setting!
Just picked this game up a bit ago. Did not realize this was a mode, got invaded while taking care of my son, came back turned around and got shot in the face. Scared the shit out of me cant wait to get better at this.
The first time I encountered it was on release day. I knew absolutely nothing about the feature, got invaded and hid in a bush until the camping detection kicked in, panicked, ran into a field headlong into my invader and got shot in the face. Once I figured out the basics, it was (mostly) a different story. Stick with it and you'll be slaying your invaders in no time!

I admit I regret turning invasions off for so long. I was hunting for those damned gnomes on Gurnsey for the medal unlocks and had a few seriously fun invasions. I managed to get an awesome flank on one guy to shoot him from the side. When I get invaded my immediate focus is on countering them. I’ve made good use of decoys and the classic shu mine and TNT combo in annoying to spot places around bottlenecks. Only six kills in, but slowly getting towards unlocking the gun cloth cosmetic.
A bit of Karl-etiquette for everyone's benefit, speaking strictly for myself, I consider lethal trapping to be a bit of a lame approach to dealing with invaders. A single mine or booby trapped phone for the purpose of tagging is of course fine, but doubling up with TNT for an instant kill takes the fun out of it. I could see the Karl/Invader is OP argument going both ways, but especially on any difficulty below Authentic, I'd give the edge to Karl, if he's playing it smart. The Focus ability is just too powerful, giving away the Invader's global direction and vicinity at all times, and giving Karl a huge indoors advantage, espcially coupled when paired with AP ammo (another no-no for in my opinion). I always take care not to walk on corpses and check carefully around phones, but in some maps there are just too many common routes/choke points you can lay an instant kill trap - Occupied Residence is perhaps the prime example. Having said all that, it's just my opinion, play it your way and have fun!

I tried axis invasion twice today. First one was two players, one died to friendly fire and the other one was wolf mountain killed hitler and completed the mission
20:01 it’s because of situations like these that I don’t like to use a shotgun for any multiplayer/online SE. Used the Drilling when I had about 20 kills. Died to some noobs, quickly changed it to an SMG.
lol if that Karl in the sniper's tower in Level 2 had shot the crane above your head, you would've been toast! 😄 Yup that loading-in BS is terribly annoying on larger levels like Spy Academy... You can't take advantage of many possible longer shots. Instead, you have to actually move into an area in order to spawn in enemies. Ridiculous in a sniper game tbh...
I've had similar feelings about the modular loading since I first played SE3 and I couldn't pick off the enemies on the other side of the map on Gaberoun. Its also immersion breaking that snipers suddenly spawn far in front of you in that game, with the ability to instantly see you; I'm referring specifially to the guy near the tower in 'Siwa Oasis', and the distant sniper after you come through the door in 'Belly of the Beast', neither spawn until you're in range of them! I find it odd that the same loading system is present in SE5, especially as its only on very few selected areas on a few maps, Spy Academy being the most obvious.
Hey Duckwit, new to SE5 and into Axis Invasion. Just got 40h mostly in Solo Campaign and I'm trying to get into invasion. I figured out, that marking with binos is a little quicker than with the scope. My question is... Do the tags made with binos last forever like the special ability tagging? Great content. Learned a lot from it. Very enjoyable videos.
Yep, binocular tags are permanent! I think ‘stay sharp’ also makes the AI a bit more alert based on what I’ve seen too. Scope tags are always a bad idea during invasions because your opponent can see your scope glare even if you aren’t aiming directly at them although they do have to be somewhere relatively in front of you to see it! Good hunting!
I got back into the swing of things yesterday as well and started over completely on PS5. Already faced the full spectrum of Karl's: sneaky Karl, noisy Karl, sapper Karl, big brain Karl, eejit Karl, cowerdly Karl - I faced them all. Some good matches, some terrible matches, but the best ones were playing as Karl myself on Spy Academy, because it allowed me to control the cat-and-mouse suspense more and not waste loads of time hunting someone only to have them die to the AI.
To put you at ease, please note that I only play for a couple of hours every few weeks, so its incredibly unlikely that you will ever encounter me! I've been playing for 15 months and haven't even hit 500 kills yet!
I wasn't totally sure about this mode when the game launched. But I did keep the mode on during my first play through and it is a lot of fun when you're suddenly being hunted down. I haven't tried being the hunter yet, but it does look like a lot of fun trying to pin them down based off clues on the map
@@duckwit85 playing as Karl, I try to make the phones my last resort when I'm being hunted. I mainly use focus and try to bait the hunter. One difference between us though is your map knowledge is just purely impressive. Your ability to go to a place and just go "oop there's a guy missing" has me scratching my head sometimes lol. I wouldn't even notice unless everyone is missing or dead from the area

This should be in every game in this style... Imagine how great this gamemode would be in Ghost Recon Breakpoint for example... Sniper invasion, you both crawling trough bushes and mud trynna to pinpoint each others locations to eliminate each other... I really like this gamemode, unfortunately I dont play Sniper Elite, I stopped with Sniper Elite 3 cuz it kinda became boring SP thing at that point... I miss the hardcore Sniper Elite 1 gameplay...
Cheers! I don't and have never played the multiplayer modes besides invasions, which the game doesn't count as multiplayer. Multiplayer is generally not my thing, I'm not that competitive.
Okey so this might be another stupid question here... How come you can have two grandes equiped? I can't change my items in the loadout so I am stuck with one grenade and one mine. Great content as always
Will you try my one considered. owboy loadout for a is invasion? Fast shooting upgraded winchester (no scope), trench gun and the revolver, really want to see you try this loadout.
Update: I tried it and it wasn't a good time. I got a few kills with the trench gun, one with the Deringer, but most people died before I could get close enough to them to use the weapons. The Winchester with just the ironsights was too twitchy for me to be accurate even with my mouse on the lowest sensitivity and I got no kills with it, and it even got me killed against a dude with a scoped rifle who had cleared the map. The trench gun was fun, but I've gone back to what I was using before!
@@duckwit85 I agree with you, versing guys with scopes and a clear map you are at a constant disadvantage, other that they can‘t see you when scoping. Thx for giving it a try.
Great episode, you make it look so easy! Yesterday I got paired with such a try-hard, placing mines/traps everywhere and I never even saw him within 30 minutes of running around... By the way: Why did you have to blur out your opponent's name at 6:15? 🤔
You’ve half answered the question: people complaining about certain tactics. Camping is a controversial one. I blur out names just in case in situations like that to protect the players that use those tactics. I do the same thing for trappers!
Don’t worry, though. You can feel however you want about how other people play, as long as names aren’t mentioned and it doesn’t get nasty. That’s why I blur out names occasionally. Personally these days I only take exception to spawn campers and map clearers, who I choose not to play and they get cut out of the videos. I don’t want the controversy!
@@duckwit85 Ah ok, makes perfect sense, maybe I should have given it a little thought first instead of commenting immediately 😅 I wonder how many invasions get cut from the videos, certainly quite a lot. Recently quite a few of my opponents were just afk standing around in the open, I guess you would leave that out from the videos as well.
I’ve encountered only a few AFK players and I generally leave them in because it’s kind of funny and not something you can really critique someone for in a negative way. Sometimes you need to leave your game for a few minutes! I even had one player find himself in one of the early videos when he was AFK and we had a little laugh over it. I do remove any matches that have no outcome, though, unless I later play that player again and the first match has important context. That’s rare, though. Generally it’s just the controversial or unresolved stuff. For example, I had a player on Rough Landing (who I had played before a couple of times and beat) who is a prolific trapper who hides behind tonnes of traps to ‘lure’ opponents in. He hid in the church tower and trapped the hell out of it (one of my grenades set some traps off). That’s how I found out you can’t get up there as invader. I really wanted to leave it in to show what BS it was the invader can’t even get up there (as a complaint about the level design rather than the player). I actually apologised to the player in commentary for having to quit out. I didn’t show it in the end because I knew people would attack the player over it. I mean, it’s not my preferred tactic but to not even have the chance to try and tackle it was more annoying to me than anything. No matter how much I wanted to make an example out of the bad design, I couldn’t justify potentially exposing that player, and the comments, to abuse. Especially when my first encounter with that same player months before, my own unfair negative reaction to their tactics and then the abuse (of them) in the comments that followed was one of the main reasons I started censoring stuff in the first place. A couple of viewers started listing players they hated and started talking about making a blacklist of players to avoid. I shot that shit down pretty quick. Luckily I had almost no following back then so the damage was as minimal, and I changed my attitude. The player themself never complained and I don’t think they ever even saw it. Either way, I learned my lessons and changed my attitude, and that’s why I censor or omit some things. I’m better for it, the channel is better for it, and I’ve got awesome viewers as a result of it. After all, it’s just a game! FYI, only 1 invasion was cut out of this video and it was a no-outcome match where they died to AI. I had good fortune with this one!

how do you know how much people you have killed when you are invaded, I know the ones I killed when I invade them but what about when you get are invaded?
Had this question the other week and even asked other players on stream and the concensus was you can't see how many invaders you have killed except for when you have won/lost an invasion, where both statistics are shown. Kills as invader are visible on the Axis Invasion screen, though.
I found a bug where instead of starting with a your two explosive you get a bottle. Also found I new bug where when you spawn you can’t move. I’m glad the update made spawn trapping not work due to spawn protection but it seems to have a rare bug and also 8 gigabytes for a patch is crazy. I also hope I’m 6 there is some skill base match making for invaders because the new Karl’s are to easy and I just feel bad cause they stand no shot. They could have an invader rank to determine matchmaking. Lastly to even things out more I think some enemies should have random spacing changes to I can’t just know where karl is due to knowing we’re a specific enemy spawns
Spawn protection is now a thing?! The not being able to move thing has happened to me twice a fair while back so its an old but very rare bug. The patch seems to be due to the 'Complete Edition' being released (at an utterly ridiculous price). It's felt pretty clear to me that they were done with new content, and I'd say that confirms it. I never got my Garand. Such a shame. Also the 8GB is actually pretty tame for this game. Most of the patches have been 30-40GB downloads for me up to this point!
Does anybody else stop what they are doing and try to hunt the sniper jeager when they jump into your game? I find that a lot of fun, also I think I'm going to try iron sights next time I'm the invader. Also duckwit... What shotgun is that? I want to give it a shot lol
@@duckwit85 I was thinking of getting that one, I want to check out the level too, lol I got i think about 20 hours in the game and I just finished the 3rd level last night, so really I want to check out all the rest of the levels as well, I never play without axis invasion, so a lot of that time was spent trying to hunt the other players, also I'm up to 12 or 13 kills as the invader so some of the time went into that, and trying to find my way around the maps I haven't played in the campaign yet

Honestly, I don't play much. I've been playing since the game released in May 2022, and I only played for ~3 hours every couple of weeks to record these videos. I used to score anywhere from 10 to 20 kills per session as most of the matches only lasted a few minutes. There are players who started playing a long time after I did with kill counts well into the thousands now!
Nice video mate, i love get invaded and i have a cuestion for everyone, how can i get invaded more than one time?, i´ve tried everything, make so much noise, activate all the posibles alarms, complete abjectives slower and nothing, it keeps sayin "invasions are not available yet"
It can be finicky and sometimes it breaks. If it says you’re on cooldown for a long time, or has no invasion status for a long time and you are still completing objectives then you might even have to restart the game, which usually opens it back up.
This came out two weeks ago and was recorded 3 weeks before that when the games weren't on sale?! EDIT: I also love the fact that more people are discovering the game, so your passive-aggressive tone is confusing.
I haven’t had any issues matching players recently, and it seems like there has been an influx of new players. The game has cross play so that increases the matchmaking pool considerably. It’s also recently made it to PS Plus apparently, so there’s a bunch of people who have recently started playing from that. I recommend shopping around for the best deal if you want to buy it, though. The Complete Edition is a really overpriced product. For example, It’s actually around £30 cheaper to buy the base game and season passes on the PS store right now (because they’re on sale) than the complete edition (just released and not on sale) and it’s all exactly the same content. Shop around for your platform before you commit!
I do it when there is potential that player will be ridiculed or harassed for a tactic they are using. Sadly it has happened before and the camping tactic is a potentially contentious one for some people (I personally don’t mind it because I’ve rarely seen it work). I do the same for players who use lots of traps. It’s standard practice for me to do it in situations like this just in case. I haven’t done it in a while, but I have done it several times before!

Sniper Elite 5 was recently included in the PS Plus catalog. Might partly explain an influx of new players.

Some good matches, some terrible matches, but the best ones were playing as Karl myself on Spy Academy, because it allowed me to control the cat-and-mouse suspense more and not waste loads of time hunting someone only to have them die to the AI.

To put you at ease, please note that I only play for a couple of hours every few weeks, so its incredibly unlikely that you will ever encounter me! I've been playing for 15 months and haven't even hit 500 kills yet!

This is such a fun game mode
I wasn't totally sure about this mode when the game launched. But I did keep the mode on during my first play through and it is a lot of fun when you're suddenly being hunted down. I haven't tried being the hunter yet, but it does look like a lot of fun trying to pin them down based off clues on the map
That’s the main reason I love it! I like the searching and deduction to try and find them and it is very satisfying when you’re successful!
@@duckwit85 playing as Karl, I try to make the phones my last resort when I'm being hunted. I mainly use focus and try to bait the hunter. One difference between us though is your map knowledge is just purely impressive. Your ability to go to a place and just go "oop there's a guy missing" has me scratching my head sometimes lol. I wouldn't even notice unless everyone is missing or dead from the area

This should be in every game in this style... Imagine how great this gamemode would be in Ghost Recon Breakpoint for example... Sniper invasion, you both crawling trough bushes and mud trynna to pinpoint each others locations to eliminate each other... I really like this gamemode, unfortunately I dont play Sniper Elite, I stopped with Sniper Elite 3 cuz it kinda became boring SP thing at that point... I miss the hardcore Sniper Elite 1 gameplay...

Cheers! I don't and have never played the multiplayer modes besides invasions, which the game doesn't count as multiplayer. Multiplayer is generally not my thing, I'm not that competitive.
Okey so this might be another stupid question here... How come you can have two grandes equiped? I can't change my items in the loadout so I am stuck with one grenade and one mine.

Update: I tried it and it wasn't a good time. I got a few kills with the trench gun, one with the Deringer, but most people died before I could get close enough to them to use the weapons. The Winchester with just the ironsights was too twitchy for me to be accurate even with my mouse on the lowest sensitivity and I got no kills with it, and it even got me killed against a dude with a scoped rifle who had cleared the map. The trench gun was fun, but I've gone back to what I was using before!
@@duckwit85 I agree with you, versing guys with scopes and a clear map you are at a constant disadvantage, other that they can‘t see you when scoping. Thx for giving it a try.
Great episode, you make it look so easy! Yesterday I got paired with such a try-hard, placing mines/traps everywhere and I never even saw him within 30 minutes of running around...

You’ve half answered the question: people complaining about certain tactics. Camping is a controversial one. I blur out names just in case in situations like that to protect the players that use those tactics. I do the same thing for trappers!
Don’t worry, though. You can feel however you want about how other people play, as long as names aren’t mentioned and it doesn’t get nasty. That’s why I blur out names occasionally. Personally these days I only take exception to spawn campers and map clearers, who I choose not to play and they get cut out of the videos. I don’t want the controversy!
@@duckwit85 Ah ok, makes perfect sense, maybe I should have given it a little thought first instead of commenting immediately 😅 I wonder how many invasions get cut from the videos, certainly quite a lot. Recently quite a few of my opponents were just afk standing around in the open, I guess you would leave that out from the videos as well.
I’ve encountered only a few AFK players and I generally leave them in because it’s kind of funny and not something you can really critique someone for in a negative way. Sometimes you need to leave your game for a few minutes! I even had one player find himself in one of the early videos when he was AFK and we had a little laugh over it.
I do remove any matches that have no outcome, though, unless I later play that player again and the first match has important context. That’s rare, though. Generally it’s just the controversial or unresolved stuff. For example, I had a player on Rough Landing (who I had played before a couple of times and beat) who is a prolific trapper who hides behind tonnes of traps to ‘lure’ opponents in. He hid in the church tower and trapped the hell out of it (one of my grenades set some traps off). That’s how I found out you can’t get up there as invader. I really wanted to leave it in to show what BS it was the invader can’t even get up there (as a complaint about the level design rather than the player). I actually apologised to the player in commentary for having to quit out. I didn’t show it in the end because I knew people would attack the player over it. I mean, it’s not my preferred tactic but to not even have the chance to try and tackle it was more annoying to me than anything.
No matter how much I wanted to make an example out of the bad design, I couldn’t justify potentially exposing that player, and the comments, to abuse. Especially when my first encounter with that same player months before, my own unfair negative reaction to their tactics and then the abuse (of them) in the comments that followed was one of the main reasons I started censoring stuff in the first place. A couple of viewers started listing players they hated and started talking about making a blacklist of players to avoid. I shot that shit down pretty quick. Luckily I had almost no following back then so the damage was as minimal, and I changed my attitude. The player themself never complained and I don’t think they ever even saw it. Either way, I learned my lessons and changed my attitude, and that’s why I censor or omit some things. I’m better for it, the channel is better for it, and I’ve got awesome viewers as a result of it. After all, it’s just a game!
FYI, only 1 invasion was cut out of this video and it was a no-outcome match where they died to AI. I had good fortune with this one!

how do you get such good invasions? every time i get one they end invasion, leave or kill them selfs instantly
how do you know how much people you have killed when you are invaded, I know the ones I killed when I invade them but what about when you get are invaded?
Had this question the other week and even asked other players on stream and the concensus was you can't see how many invaders you have killed except for when you have won/lost an invasion, where both statistics are shown. Kills as invader are visible on the Axis Invasion screen, though.
I found a bug where instead of starting with a your two explosive you get a bottle. Also found I new bug where when you spawn you can’t move. I’m glad the update made spawn trapping not work due to spawn protection but it seems to have a rare bug and also 8 gigabytes for a patch is crazy.
I also hope I’m 6 there is some skill base match making for invaders because the new Karl’s are to easy and I just feel bad cause they stand no shot. They could have an invader rank to determine matchmaking.
Lastly to even things out more I think some enemies should have random spacing changes to I can’t just know where karl is due to knowing we’re a specific enemy spawns
Spawn protection is now a thing?! The not being able to move thing has happened to me twice a fair while back so its an old but very rare bug.
The patch seems to be due to the 'Complete Edition' being released (at an utterly ridiculous price). It's felt pretty clear to me that they were done with new content, and I'd say that confirms it. I never got my Garand. Such a shame.
Also the 8GB is actually pretty tame for this game. Most of the patches have been 30-40GB downloads for me up to this point!

Its the Sjogren Inertia, best damned shotgun in the game IMO. It in the Rough Landing DLC.
@@duckwit85 I was thinking of getting that one, I want to check out the level too, lol I got i think about 20 hours in the game and I just finished the 3rd level last night, so really I want to check out all the rest of the levels as well, I never play without axis invasion, so a lot of that time was spent trying to hunt the other players, also I'm up to 12 or 13 kills as the invader so some of the time went into that, and trying to find my way around the maps I haven't played in the campaign yet

Honestly, I don't play much. I've been playing since the game released in May 2022, and I only played for ~3 hours every couple of weeks to record these videos. I used to score anywhere from 10 to 20 kills per session as most of the matches only lasted a few minutes. There are players who started playing a long time after I did with kill counts well into the thousands now!
Nice video mate, i love get invaded and i have a cuestion for everyone, how can i get invaded more than one time?, i´ve tried everything, make so much noise, activate all the posibles alarms, complete abjectives slower and nothing, it keeps sayin "invasions are not available yet"
It can be finicky and sometimes it breaks. If it says you’re on cooldown for a long time, or has no invasion status for a long time and you are still completing objectives then you might even have to restart the game, which usually opens it back up.

I haven’t had any issues matching players recently, and it seems like there has been an influx of new players. The game has cross play so that increases the matchmaking pool considerably. It’s also recently made it to PS Plus apparently, so there’s a bunch of people who have recently started playing from that.
I recommend shopping around for the best deal if you want to buy it, though. The Complete Edition is a really overpriced product. For example, It’s actually around £30 cheaper to buy the base game and season passes on the PS store right now (because they’re on sale) than the complete edition (just released and not on sale) and it’s all exactly the same content. Shop around for your platform before you commit!

I do it when there is potential that player will be ridiculed or harassed for a tactic they are using. Sadly it has happened before and the camping tactic is a potentially contentious one for some people (I personally don’t mind it because I’ve rarely seen it work). I do the same for players who use lots of traps. It’s standard practice for me to do it in situations like this just in case. I haven’t done it in a while, but I have done it several times before!
