Didn't make enough money, apparently. Smaller audience than most major releases so the sales figures weren't enough on their own, and eidos couldn't find an alternative way to monetize it effectively. We may get a new one eventually, but it's not their focus for the time being. Sucks though. One of the best franchises in the world.
God this is one of my favourite franchises. I love the old games, I love the new games, I love Elias Toufexis as an actor, I love the roleplay and the stealth and the narrative especially. Such a deep and rich experience. Right up there with Halo, Mass Effect, and Gears of War for me in terms of its significance.
Adam has to be one of the most badass protagonists ever. He's got that melancholy that can be very human and relatable and the strength we all dream to have at least once in our lifetime. I adore him. If only we could've gotten the end of his trilogy. ❤😢
My God, I do not wanna even think about the total cost of all these augmentations put together. The maintenance cost alone must be catastrophic makes me wonder how much hardware Adam went through over the course of the game.
@@karenbaldwin2867 Actually no Maintenance, he does not need Neuropozyne His Augments are all military grade. Does not break easily In first game, all expenses are paid by Shariff himself

Wow at that point it seems like he’s basically a virtual being. The rate time flows is modifiable, wall hacks are toggable, his skin is interchangeable and if he wants he could probably just zone out into a VR world thanks to that 12ghz brain he’s got. Wild
I love when games put this much depth and lore into their upgrades screen, I'll spend forever reading them in awe. I can't think of many games that do this
In the cutscene right after Jensen is injured, a medical responder reports that they were able to save one of his original arms. The person who says this is told that the saved arm is not wanted and should be disposed of. This is a direct reference to the original Robocop movie. The acronym CASIE is mispronounced in this video; it should actually be pronounced with a long "a" so that it rhymes with Lacey. This can be determined by how characters pronounce the acronym in game dialogue. The rather famous and somewhat dystopian Vietnam War allegory science fiction novel called "The Forever War," written in 1974 by Joseph Haldeman, describes "caseys" as a form of world currency as well as a slang term for food calories. The key aspect of the new currency is that the value of goods is measured in terms of the ability to purchase food. However, forms of food are not equal, neither are other goods -- therefore a complex system of relative adjustments and sliding scales is used. The protagonist William Mandela is a soldier who has no choice but to regularly use faster-than-light travel, so as he and his comrades return to Earth again and again, Mandela confronts the effects of greater and greater time dilation, a greater and greater number of sweeping and confusing changes on Earth compared to the Earth he once knew. The increasing chasm of differences experienced by Mandela and the other soldiers is like the increasing chasm of differences between augmented and unaugmented people in the Deus Ex games.
I always wondered how the augments in Dues Ex compared to other verses augments, like Cyberpunk 2077. If we compare these two, Dues Ex seems to have more powerful equipment, but 2077 is more efficient. 2077 doesn't need batteries to reuse their abilities unless you're a netrunner. Even then, you can just wait to recharge everything. This comparison is even fair because we are comparing the tech from one verse to one guy, and Jensen is literally built out of military grade equipment.
This is so awesome. I can't run the most recent DX but I played the original last spring and was sucked into it entirely. The gameplay of this one looks so good, especially the dialogue with npcs. It's really creative how the game makes the speech options directly tie in with your augmented social skills. Rather than oversimplifying human interaction with abstract charisma or mercantile stat requirements, this explains it with in-universe technology and turns the tables on something that can often be immersion breaking by making it grounded in the lore!
Such a great series of games. I was worried about this and the revelation about who jensen really was. But it worked out really well and fans of the deus ex series liked him a lot too.
Ever since I first saw some of the cooler, less obviously horrifying forms of cybernetic augmentation growing up as a kid, I’ve wanted so badly to be able to augment my body like this. It’s my hope that one day humanity will get to this point, and achieve this goal.

A sandevestan equipped cadre of Spartans, which would augment their already considerable speed, would be devastating in their combat speed and “violence of action” factor that the current USMC has as a part of their offensive power theory. RIP to any covies or innies
@@libertyprime1614 Yeah, Sandy might have diminishing returns... but for covert actions that might not be best for MJOLNR or SPI armors, the integral strength boosts, active camo, nano armor, electronic war suites, and hidden weapons might be superb. I have had a nagging question @installation00 ever since I played these games. How would a mental disorder like adhd or autism affect augments?
